With stories that matter to you, this is Fox 6 News at 5.
Now at 5, the Brewers are this close to history.
Can they wrap it up at Dodger Stadium?
We'll have a live report.
And here is a live look at Dodger Stadium.
We are just about two hours from first pitch.
Here from the team ahead of the all-important Game 4.
27 more outs. Let's go.
and that is what is standing in between the Brewers
and a trip to the World Series our live
team coverage just starts right now
and as our big story today at five so glad you're along for
the ride because the Milwaukee Brewers are on the brink
of making it to their first World Series
in more than four decades that was 1982 you know
that we know that but now we got to live in the
present because here's a live look
from Dodger Stadium where we're just two hours away from
first pitch on Game 4 the Brewers they're leading
the Los Angeles Dodgers three games to
none in the National League Championship Series one
of the stars from last night DL Hall spoke
this afternoon about getting his opportunity
to play for the Brewers it's a blessing i think uh
everything definitely happens for a reason
and i think me coming over here obviously it was a
a big thing and i think it was a blessing for myself
and my career my family um it's been
nothing but good things here
and I think that a lot of the development I have had probably wouldn't
have happened had I stayed you know where I
was and I think you know those downs taught me a lot
and I think going through them here was huge with these guys
because you know they always believed
in me over the past two years they knew what I had in me
and I think that that gave me more reason
to keep pushing until I found myself again.
And we believe in our team that's all over the place
Brandon Cruz, Lily Zhao, Ashley Sears, they're standing by.
But let's start with Ted Perry live in Los Angeles.
Ted, the Brewers need one more win to punch their ticket.
So what is the vibe like today out in Southern California?
Well, so many questions come to mind, Mary and Ben.
Will rookie Shane Drohan have the steal
that Robert Gasser had last night
and do his part to secure a victory?
Will Jake Bauer stay hot with the bat?
But did I pack enough sunscreen?
The answer to that third question is no, I did not.
Sunny skies here all around.
You can hear the Dodger drum line behind me.
And fans are starting to go in.
The gates opened about a half hour ago,
and I've already seen more Brewer fans today.
Today, two and a half hours before
the first pitch that I did all of last night.
So they are going to be a little bit more loud tonight in there.
Let's go to Brandon Cruz, who's down on the field.
You've been talking to a lot of players, Brandon.
and a lot of fans think it's a foregone conclusion
the players can't afford to feel that way.
No, they're just worried about the here and now.
The guys right now are taking infield.
You can see Bryce Turang out there at second base,
one of the leaders on this team,
and they are as business as usual.
This is just game 170.
Sure, there's a lot riding on it.
A win puts them in the World Series for the first time in 44 years,
but that isn't how they're approaching it.
They're just going through their routines,
taking it, you know, as a day, like any other day.
How about that?
And here's Bryce Turang talking about their approach to this game four.
I think just during the season, we continue to push to win every pitch,
win every inning, win every game.
And we've got to do that tonight as well.
So win every pitch, win every inning,
win on all sides of the ball, and win tonight.
But we just want to win every game that we're a part of.
So no matter what the situation is, it's about winning tonight.
Yeah, and that's been the mantra ever since Pat Murphy took over
as manager three seasons ago.
I mean, win tonight.
It's painted in their clubhouse.
It is part of their culture.
And it's been their approach every time.
And it led to 103 wins in the regular season,
three more against the Padres,
and now three against the Dodgers.
So for them, if they keep doing that,
they feel very confident in what will happen by the end of the night.
Ted, back to you.
All right, Brandon, thanks very much.
And the Brewers did something last night
that they hadn't done in the last five postseason games
or tournaments they've been in.
They won game three.
They had been 0 for 5 in postseason play
on game three until last night.
So that's a good sign, turning of the corner.
Let's go back on the field now and talk to Lily Zhao.
Lily, you have more on a pitcher
who has really been the most important cog, many argue,
in that bullpen, Dia Hall.
Yeah, he's one of those guys that can pick up anybody
and that's exactly what he did in the sixth inning of game three
when he came in relief for Abner Uribe who walked the first two batters
and then walked the bases loaded as well.
And D.L. Hall came in and he got two big strikeouts
to end the inning and keep the score to 2-1
and that was really important considering how
that seventh inning worked out.
As for D.L. Hall though, this is a team mantra.
They pick up anybody that has had a tough night, a pitcher,
a hitter, anybody on the team who has struggled.
there's everybody behind him picking him up
and that's what makes his team so special I think it
all just comes from us being so close
and uh you know just being like true friends just like even
outside of the field um it's like a family like we all just want
to pick each other up it's it's I
know we say it a lot but it's it's true like
when you see one guy down like we all just want to
just somehow pick him up you know whether it's
the offense doing it um like last night or you
another bullpen arm coming in and picking somebody up.
Whatever it is, we just all want to help each other
because we all care about each other personally.
And that's what makes this team so special is, again,
they always give their best for their teammates,
and that is why they've gotten so far,
just one win away from the World Series.
The Brewers hoping to be the first team in MLB history
to sweep a team that they got swept by the previous postseason.
Ted, back over to you.
Lily, you're around this team a lot.
Are they acting the same way on this October day
as they did on a day in June or April?
It's the same version of these guys, right?
They're not doing anything different.
Yeah, it's the same mentality, too.
I think if we ask this question of how do you win the World Series,
I'm sorry, punch your ticket to the World Series,
they get the same answer today
that they would back in August, back in July.
It's one game at a time, one inning at a time.
Those 27 outs are so important for this team.
They know that, again, every game is new,
but they will take it one step at a time,
and that's the same exact mentality they have
in a potential closing game four
and a sweep over the Dodgers.
So you have to like that that's the mentality that they have
because this is how they've gotten so far.
And, again, they've only lost one game in the postseason.
I think that mentality has really helped them thus far, Ted.
Absolutely.
Lily Zhao down on the field, thanks very much.
Well, we will find out as they take one game
at a time in two hours and one minute.
5.07 is first pitch.
So we've got a little time to look back
to the last visit to the World Series.
Some of you fans watching now weren't born yet.
Some of you were just wee children.
I was a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Ashley Sears, you're looking back, talking nostalgia.
Tell us where you are and what people are talking about that 82 team.
Yeah, hi, Ted.
We are at the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum,
where you can spot some past and present stars, Brewers stars in here.
And this place has been busy with the Brewers' success.
A lot of people wanting to come inside here
and look at all this memorabilia.
Fans across the city are pumped about this team and what's ahead.
And this fandom is conjuring up some feelings of nostalgia.
We talk with some Brewers faithful who say this season feels magical.
Sort of like 1982.
Steve Stein went to a World Series game that year
when the Brewers took on the Cardinals.
He had a standing room ticket and it cost him just $8.
And Teresa Heidemann, she was just five years old
when the Brewers secured the pennant on her birthday.
Both say it was an incredible time,
and they're optimistic it will happen again.
We went down to Wisconsin Avenue for the impromptu parade.
Dad carrying me on his shoulders, walking around. It was just crazy.
I thought about it, and I go, well,
I've never been to a World Series before.
I really ought to go and I'm certainly glad I did
because I never thought it would be 44 years
before another World Series would happen.
You hear that? That is confidence. He believes the
Brewers will head back to the World Series after 44 years
and there's some new stuff here at the
Bobblehead Museum from these light-up Cheerio
and Ms. Bobbleheads or how about a Bernie Brewer
bobblehead advent calendar ted get me one
of each i'll take three of each that make great
stocking stuffers for sure ashley will love
the look back i love the nostalgia angle on this
thanks so much ashley sears at the national bobblehead museum
and guys i'll send it back
to you and some viewers might be going wait wait she mentioned
a parade that's right and ben i know
this is one of the things that really jumps out
for you they threw a parade for a team that did
not win the world series i can't even imagine
the i can't even imagine the parade that's going to
happen if the brewers get to and win
the world series i think we're going to shut down not
wisconsin avenue but i-94 things have changed it's fun to look back uh
and our creative services
social media team we have so many of these old 1982 stories
when they won the remember they were
in the American League at the time all right
the fans rushed onto the field and what did the players
do they also rushed onto the field
and when they were all partying i don't think we'll see that
kind of scene if it happens tonight
in Los Angeles well they're on the road i'm glad you mentioned
that i'm i'm glad you mentioned that because it's great nostalgia
our photojournalist Jake who was
not born in 82 was watching it i'm pointing out the players
and i'm pointing out the great Jim
Paschke former uh Fox Sixer TV Sixer
who was the voice of the Bucks did a lot of Brewer games as
Well, it's great to see him
in there getting tossed around with all the players.
It was a fun look back, and I found myself going,
yeah, okay, that's Charlie Moore.
Yeah, okay, oh, that's Coop, Coop, and that's the original Coop, right?
And I found myself thinking there are going to be kids
who in 40 years from now
are going to be looking at this and going, oh, that's Sal, that's Sal,
oh, that's Luis Lara, he came up during the season.
Let's hope so.
It's just the memories, the memories that a baseball team
and a successful run bring to you
On that note of memories, Ted,
you said you were at the University of Wisconsin,
a school that is known to have a party or two.
Do you recall if there was something in one
of the frat houses, perhaps your dorm,
or maybe even out on the street when that happened?
Well, I was not in a frat or did I really didn't hang
with the frat guys, so that I don't know.
But I can tell you they won the first game like 10 to nothing,
and we all thought this was in the bag.
And then it wasn't.
It turns out it wasn't in the bag.
They lost in seven.
So that was a real bummer.
I had been a member of the Pepsi Brewer fan club since I
was 14 years old when we moved to Wisconsin.
So it was tough then.
I don't know if I can emotionally go
through that again and see them lose.
So let's just keep counting the wins.
Why don't we do that?
That's better for my mental health, I think.
As Pat Murphy says, we'll live in the now
and we'll try and get a win tonight.
Because we need to win before we start talking World Series.
All right.
Thanks, Ted.
Appreciate it.
Fun to look back at when we were young, celebrating them in the 80s.
And, you know, speaking of which,
a young Brewers fan gets quite the surprise this morning.
Yeah, his parents woke him up saying he was late for school.
But wait, that was only a ruse.
Henry, you missed the bus.
Henry, what are you doing?
Again?
Yeah, it's 6.
It's 7:30.
I was sound asleep.
I didn't even wake up once.
I have a good idea.
You know what?
Why don't you pack your bag, get some overnight clothes,
your toothbrush, your deodorant.
I'm taking you somewhere.
Why don't we go to L.A. and go to game four?
Actually?
Yeah.
Really?
Yeah.
This is amazing.
He woke up real quick, wiping that sleep out of his eye.
Good morning.
Man, he went from confused to ecstatic just like that.
This is the Roper family.
They actually moved to Las Vegas a few years ago.
They were from Franklin.
Dad and son spent the day driving to Los Angeles,
and we chatted with them on the road.
That story is coming up.
I just like look at his walls as we go over here.
It's all Wisconsin sports stuff on there.
So, oh, man, he'll be at the game tonight
as they're driving on the way from from Vegas to L.A.
Very cool. I have a feeling even teachers
will say you can miss class for this.
This is better than any lesson we could teach you.
Yeah. Hey, quick reminder, the start time for tonight's game
for it got moved up to seven o'clock our time.
We are not complaining. The game's on FS1.
Be sure to keep it here,
live coverage before and after the game, of course.
And for more on the Brewers' playoff run, visit fox6now.com.
The Fox Local app, download it today
because we're going to have all sorts of fun stuff.
So you can watch the game,
but see what fans are doing at the exact same time.
And there you'll find post-game coverage,
ticket information, details on exclusive NLCS gear.
Again, when the fans are going bonkers,
you'll be able to watch it there on your Fox Local app.
So exciting.
Well, pretty nice night for baseball in Los Angeles.
That's right. But, Tom, not exactly the same here in Milwaukee.
Yeah, a little different, right?
About 90 in Los Angeles, 50s and rain around here.
And guess what? There's a freeze watch set
to take effect Saturday morning.
I'll show you where coming up after the break.
Oh, yuck.
Yuck is right. A man who ordered food from a place in Oconomowoc,
that place, Emperor's Garden, getting quite the surprise.
when he noticed an insect and larva inside of his walnut shrimp.
So, what happened to the restaurant?
Well, our Waukesha County reporter,
Brett Lemoine, has some answers for us.
That's coming up right after the break.
And we're taking Wake Up on the Road tomorrow.
Join Donovan, Cramp, Andrew,
and Ben Hanson for another edition of Fox 6 Morning Kickoff.
Starting at 6 in the morning,
we will be live at Racine Case High School and Indian Trail
Ahead of their big matchup under the Friday night lights, we're going
to have the football teams, the marching band, the cheerleaders.
There's always surprises,
so that should be fun tomorrow on Fox 6 Morning Kickoff.
New details tonight on the plane crash
that killed six people in Sauk County.
It happened late Tuesday night.
The sheriff's office identifying the victims.
The names are on your screen here.
the youngest victim, 13 years old, Ronald Reich,
is a licensed pilot and a prominent
business person from northwest Wisconsin.
The plane was headed from Kenosha to Menominee when
it crashed right near the Dells.
Investigators say it happened minutes after the pilot reported
icing issues. One person is dead after a fight leads
to gunshots in Racine overnight. Police
say just before 3 a.m.,
officers responded to Ruby and Greenfield for a report of a shooting.
The caller says they were assaulted inside their home
and that they shot someone.
A 52-year-old man died.
Police say the 44-year-old man
who fired the gun is cooperating with investigators.
A 75-year-old man is dead after a house fire in Milwaukee.
It happened this afternoon on Cody Circle near 76th and Green Tree.
Fire Chief Aaron Lipsky says the home had cluttered conditions inside.
The fire was in the bedroom.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The 23-year-old charged with shooting
and killing a former Racine High School basketball star,
Kareem Ozier, made his second appearance in court today.
Our Racine Kenosha County reporter, Ben Hanson, was there.
He's got details on exactly what happened
and what's going to happen next in this case.
There was nearly 40 minutes of testimony
and cross-examination for Colin Wallace's case in court today.
He's the one charged with shooting and killing Kareem Ozier.
The commissioner found probable cause and now Wallace will stand trial.
Ozier was shot and killed in Racine near 12th
and Memorial on September 20th, just before 9 p.m.
According to the criminal complaint,
the altercation started from a minor traffic incident.
Today in court, Nicholas Contreras, a Racine Police Department
investigator who responded to the shooting, testified.
The defense seemingly questioned Contreras to support
the idea Wallace was acting in self-defense.
If what you're inferring is that Mr. Ozier recruited people
to come back across the street with him,
it did not appear that way on the video, no.
The defense persisted, and the prosecution objected.
Commissioner, this has been asked and answered.
He's just not answering it the way Attorney Cafferty wants him
to because it didn't happen that way.
Ozier's family was in court to watch. They were wiping back tears,
holding on to one another, and struggling to stay silent at times.
Based on the totality of that testimony,
I'm construing all inferences in the light most favorable to the state
and make finding the probable cause as to the charge alleged
in by the defendant of the stand trial.
I talked with Ozier's family after,
and they respectfully declined to talk on camera.
Wallace is expected back here in court for that trial on November 4th.
In Racine, Ben Hanson, Fox 6 News.
Thank you, Ben.
Well, a startling discovery in a Chinese takeout box has prompted
the restaurant where it came from to voluntarily shut down.
Waukesha County reporter Brett Lemoine joining us live in Oconomowoc
with the violations inspectors found this week, Brett.
And Ben and Mary, this all stems from a man who reached out
to Waukesha County health officials and to us with pictures of his meal
that he got on Saturday, the walnut shrimp that came with bugs inside.
take a look at these photographs he
ordered through DoorDash and says he
found winged insects and larvae inside the food container.
Waukesha County
Environmental Health did an inspection on Tuesday
and noted several violations.
Inspectors say the food inside Emperor's Garden
was stored in a cooler that was
too warm. It all got thrown out.
There were also problems with the water
temperature at hand and equipment
washing stations not being hot enough.
other violations included
the front door being left open without a screen and
quote evidence of flies throughout
the restaurant we've reached out to the
owner by email and telephone
but haven't heard back yet the owner did tell
inspectors that a new city transformer blew several fuses
at the restaurant on
September 29th and caused the air-conditioning oven and freezer to
have issues here the owner voluntarily
closed Emperor's Garden until a county
until the county can verify that the water heater
and coolers can maintain proper temperatures.
Now, we showed these pictures to other customers
who told us it made them feel sick.
And I'm surprised to see that picture in the photo.
Makes me not want to eat there ever again,
but hopefully they can clean it up and make the best of it.
Now, we did reach out to the city to clarify exactly what happened
when that transformer was replaced last month.
The spokeswoman says during re-energizing, there was a vaulting issue
that was identified and power was turned off immediately.
She says power was restored by 7 a.m. that same day.
The county health officials tell us that the Mexican
restaurant right next door was also inspected on Tuesday.
Investigators say all of the food equipment
is working fine just next door.
Reporting live in Oconomowoc, Brett Lemoine, Fox 6 News.
All right.
Thanks, Brett.
Brett, thank you.
Oh, you could hear those raindrops
and you just see that overcast cloud.
I mean, you've called this time.
It's just a dank, drippy, dreary kind of day.
And the mist, it just kind of chills you to the core a little bit.
Yeah, it does.
But for some reason, it's not bringing any of us down, is it?
No.
I wonder why.
You're right.
What an exciting night ahead for us.
Well, let's talk about this freeze watch
that's in effect before we get into the rain.
There is a freeze watch mainly for inland areas,
although this does include Sheboygan County.
This is from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Heard from many of you saying, OK,
we've got to get these mosquitoes gone.
We've got to get the stink bugs gone.
And I think this may start to do that in that direction here
as we see temperatures dip below 32 away from the lake.
Closer to the lake, about 34, 35 degrees Saturday morning.
So a bit more frosty, just a few degrees difference.
But that's why Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine counties.
You're not under a freeze watch at this point.
It's going to be cold everywhere.
Saturday morning, though, is really the bottom line.
All right.
Rain-wise, we have had over three-tenths of an inch
of rain officially in Milwaukee at the airport.
Allenton, you're just about at an inch of rain.
Sheboygan, nine-tenths of an inch.
So the heaviest rain went just a little bit
to the northwest of Milwaukee.
There's more to the southwest here.
And it's going to be kind of on and off throughout the night.
So on and off, light rain.
And you see patches of drying here, right?
So it'll be kind of back and forth throughout
the nighttime hours tonight
as we're all gathered around watching the game.
It's a good night to watch baseball, isn't it?
Here's a live look over the city from what we can see
with the raindrops dripping down the camera.
58 degrees, dew point 57, wind out of the southeast.
Big story here is air pressure,
and I'm going to talk more about this in a few minutes.
Big changes in air pressure upcoming in the next 24 hours.
So if you're susceptible to that,
please stay tuned. We'll talk more about it.
Steady temperatures in the 50s right now,
even chillier up to the north.
Rhinelander at 47.
A lot of rain pushing on through Los Angeles in the 80s.
Right now, they're looking good weather-wise tonight.
All right, let's take a look at Sky Vision Plus,
talk more about this rain here.
And what you're going to notice tonight is the rain continues,
but it's going to be the on and off, mainly light variety.
I don't think we're going to have super heavy rain
as we go into this evening or overnight.
The wind really starts to pick up overnight coming in out
of the northwest tomorrow on and off rain showers fairly light.
But the wind, I'm telling you, by afternoon,
this wind is going to be gusting to 40 miles per hour.
These are sustained numbers here, which means the gusts will
be higher than the numbers that you're seeing.
Light rain continues until about six to seven o'clock tomorrow night.
Then quick clearing. And watch this.
The wind dies down by Saturday morning.
that's why we're going to get so chilly
and why the freeze watches are in effect so here we go
only 50 for a high tomorrow strong winds out
of the northwest on and off rain showers 30 to 35
on saturday morning coldest of the year inland
a lot of sun this weekend windy and 64 on sunday
and mild next week with highs in the mid 60s well we've got more
on the brewers for you coming up
after the break. Stay with us.
Well, the Brewers still have work
to do to bring the World Series
here to the Cream City,
but this morning fans lined up outside of American Family to get a
little piece of history.
A pre-sale for World Series tickets went live at 10 this morning,
and Wisconsin residents had first dibs four hours before
the general pre-sale opened at 2 p.m.
Now, despite the option to buy online,
more than 100 people made their way to the ticket booth
with the first person arriving at AmFam just after midnight.
It's just insane.
I don't think I would ever thought I would be like,
yeah, I'm in line for World Series tickets.
I mean, I'm honestly speechless just at the fact
that we're in line for World Series.
I was there for the Bucs in six,
so I think the Brewers can do it in six too.
So this is going to be right up there,
and just something will last with me forever.
I like that thinking. That's true.
Yeah, the Bucs bringing in that vibe from years ago.
So in a little less than an hour,
games one and two at American Family Field were sold out.
The Brewers beat the Dodgers.
By the way, this would be the first time the team clinched the pennant
and made its way to the World Series since 1982.
It's hard to believe.
How are you feeling?
Are you nervous?
Are you getting excited?
We are starting to count down the start of game four.
Brewers and Dodgers, of course.
Let's give you a live look inside the stadium.
Our live team coverage continues from out west in just two minutes.
Keep it here, and we'll keep the party going.
Well, now on 530, be weather alert
as we got some big swings in air pressure.
Yeah, tell me, explain that because
it affects people in different ways.
Yeah, and I've heard from so many viewers saying
when the air pressure drops
or you get these big swings, you feel it.
Maybe it's a migraine.
Maybe it's your joints kind of feel a little bit off.
And that's why I really want to talk about air pressure here
because it's dropping tonight rather rapidly.
So watch this.
You see the reddish and dark area here.
This is low pressure.
The blue is high pressure.
So we're going to see this air pressure drop even more between now
and 10 o'clock tonight.
This isn't overly low, but it's definitely on the lower side.
But then watch this.
As we head into the overnight hours, watch how quickly it rises.
And then throughout the day tomorrow, it rises rapidly.
So we go from twenty nine point seven five inches
of mercury at 10 o'clock tonight to way high 10
o'clock tomorrow night as high pressure builds in.
The best way to think about the thing about air pressure is this way.
Low pressure means there's lower amounts of air pressure,
almost lower amounts of weight, if you will, pushing down on you.
High pressure. There's more of that.
A lot of times people feel it more when the air pressure is really low.
But when you have these big swings, and we're going to see a big swing
here as we go over the next 24 hours or so, you may be feeling that.
So that's just a heads up here that it's not only the rain
and the wind that we're going to be dealing with,
but also big swings in air pressure as well.
I'll have more on your forecast in a few minutes.
Back over to you.
I wondered why you feel a little funky
when you, you know, just some days.
Sometimes you're like, oh, it's just the cloud cover.
All right.
Good explanation.
Thanks, Tom.
Well, we are feeling sunshine, even though it's gray and damp here,
because we're just about 90 minutes away
from first pitch in game four of the NLCS.
A sweep of the Dodgers would be oh
so satisfying on the cruise path to the World Series.
Our Ted Perry joins us again, live from Los Angeles, Ted.
Satisfying and historic.
They would be the first team ever to sweep a team
that swept them out of the ALCS or NLCS the year before.
So, history's on the line tonight.
One way or another, the Brewers are hoping
this thing ends in Los Angeles.
They really don't want a game six
or seven back at American Family Field.
But let's one day at a time.
If we learn anything from the Brewers, it's one day at a time.
Before we talk about fans here tonight,
I want to share a story from last night.
A fan we met after the game.
Her name is Reese Schneider.
She lives in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood.
And she has a best friend named Sarah.
Sarah is a lukewarm baseball fan.
She's learning to love the game.
But she knows that her best friend does.
So she said, you know what?
Take all my airplane miles, get on a plane, and get out here.
Are you close now to saying we're going to the World Series,
or are you not ready to say that?
I'm a baseball fan. I can't say that.
That's going to, like, I don't know, jinx everything.
So I'm never going to say that.
Okay, then let's just talk about the joy. Fair enough. That's good.
Let's just talk about the joy you're feeling tonight.
Tell me what it was like in there for you.
Oh, it was amazing. It was really amazing.
I feel like when we were cheering there, it was all five of us,
I think, that were there in the stadium.
But still cheering on our team.
They're just amazing, just amazing fans.
Amazing fans, and there's more of them pouring in tonight.
They opened the gates about an hour ago.
And as I mentioned before, guys, I've
already seen more Brewer fans here today
than I did in all of last night.
So that's a positive sign for the visiting team
to have a little more support in the stands.
Let's go to Sam Kramer, who is at a totally different location
weather-wise and emotion-wise.
Sam, you're at a watch party tonight,
And I'm willing to bet there are more Brewer fans here than there
are Dodger fans where you are.
Oh, yeah, 1,000%.
Hello from inside American Family Field.
These are the home plate gates here behind me where fans just began
to stream through the gates.
Those that bought tickets, again,
$15 tickets to tonight's watch party inside American Family Field.
In fact, I just talked to a gentleman who said,
aren't you glad we're inside tonight?
And I said, yes, absolutely.
We would be soaked outside waiting for this one.
And, boy, a lot of people excited for this one.
Again, $15 tickets to come watch the game
on the scoreboard in center field.
$10 of that ticket price goes toward food and beverage.
The remaining $5 goes to help the Brewers Community Foundation.
They are treating this like it is a full-on event inside the ballpark.
We've got the team stores open.
So the employees with the neon shirts are here.
You've seen the red shirts here.
Those are the event security.
Light blue, the supervisors for each section.
So the only one that's missing tonight would be the orange shirts.
They are the 50-50 folks.
And maybe that makes sense, maybe not.
But a lot of people coming in tonight, again,
looking to feel that community atmosphere, check.
Looking to cheer for the team with other people around them, check.
And if we're lucky, if this goes the way they want,
they will see history again.
44 years in the making, the Milwaukee Brewers making
their second appearance in the World Series.
We will see.
A lot of people getting some fresh stuff.
How are you guys doing?
We're live on Fox 6.
What's your name?
Mindy.
Mindy.
Yep.
How are you feeling ahead of game four?
They're going to win.
You're confident?
Yep.
No doubt.
No doubt.
No doubt why?
What makes you so confident?
Pitching.
Pitching.
Pitching and pitching.
Pitching and pitching.
All right.
You got a foam finger.
You got a new hat.
That's right.
You feeling the Brewers fever?
Yeah.
He's a little shy.
He's shy.
That's okay.
All right.
Have fun, you guys.
Appreciate it so much.
Look at what I've got.
Yeah.
Oh, wow.
Hey, take a look here.
Can we take...
You're live on Fox 6.
What's your name?
Mel.
Mel.
Did you go to the World Series?
Yes, we went to the World Series.
Standing room only.
$8?
Yes.
I hope you didn't look at the standing
room only ticket prices for today.
That's a story for another time.
I don't want to bring down the vibe, Ted.
But, boy, how things have changed.
So, a lot of people excited to get in here.
It is assigned seating, so people will be in their sections.
They'll talk to some supervisors.
They don't know how many people are going to be in their section.
We know as of 2.30, 12,000 fans have
already bought tickets to be here tonight.
They'll be foul pole to foul pole
on the field level and the loge level.
So we'll see what happens.
And, Sam, quickly, how are we doing on our superstition assignment?
Oh, yeah, great question.
I saw Bernie from afar.
I have not yet seen the barrel man.
Just a question from the class here.
Do I have to do it on camera,
like in a newscast, or is that fine print?
Yeah.
Or just get some proof that it happened.
That's all.
Your word is good, Sam.
Don't get me wrong.
Your word is solid.
But get video proof.
All right.
All right.
Well, I will get proof, and I'll get back to you.
Sam Kramer on assignment to have Barrelman touch his nose.
It just became a good luck thing with us, guys.
That's all we're doing here.
Plus, it's fun.
So that's a story from here where I'm not going
to have the Dodger mascot touch me at all.
So he was floating around here before.
Mangy-looking fella.
I'll just say that.
Send it back to you guys in Milwaukee.
Fighting words.
Mangy-looking fella.
He looked thin.
He looked too thin.
A mascot should be big and pearly.
He could be like, oh, kale?
Dodger dog or something.
Kale?
Yeah.
Give him a brat and some cheese curds.
Pat Mag kid up.
Oh, good stuff.
Thanks, Ted.
The Brewers have the upper hand on pitching and hitting so far in the
National League Championship Series.
And don't forget the defense.
We're going to preview why that might matter tonight.
With the whole Fox 6 sports crew, they've all assembled.
What's next?
You're watching Fox 6 Sports with sports director Tim Van Voren.
Is it foreshadowing to say that the Brewers hope
to be popping champagne bottles
in their clubhouse tonight at Dodger Stadium?
After all, there are pictures on social media
of MLB staff rehearsing a trophy presentation
earlier today on the field for later this evening.
You have to have your proverbial bases covered, right?
With that, we bring in Brandon Cruz and Lily Zha from Los Angeles.
Does it feel inevitable there tonight, Brandon and Lily,
or do the Dodgers still seem to be in this series?
I think if you look at this, it does seem like it's inevitable.
Is it tonight?
I don't know because you never know how a team is going to respond
to being down three games to none.
And if you looked at the body language of the Dodgers
after the seventh inning of last night,
you realize it seemed like they were defeated.
but this is the two-time defending
world champions, and they are at home,
and there's a lot of pride on the line.
You don't want to be swept out of the series
at home in front of your crowd,
especially after hoisting
the Commissioner's Trophy the last two seasons.
So to me, it's a matter of the Brewers doing their business,
the Dodgers just trying to scrape together hits
and try to do something to disrupt
the rhythm the Brewers have gotten into.
Yeah, the odds are certainly convincing for a team that's up 3-0.
Shane Drohan gets the start tonight for the Brewers.
He pitches to contact sometimes.
How important do you think that the confidence
these Brewers pitchers have
because of good defense, infield and outfield defense behind them?
How much does that help the pitchers on this staff?
I think it helps a lot, right?
I think we saw it a couple games ago in the division series,
also in the championship series,
that you can have double plays turned behind you
even if you get guys on base.
So I think it'll be important for Shane Drohan
to really trust the guys behind him,
knowing that even if a runner does get on base,
they can be taken out as well.
So I think for him, though, just his first postseason start,
manager Pat Murphy said he'd be there for at least an inning.
We'll see how he goes.
But I think for him, just to kind of deal with the adrenaline
that comes with pitching on the road at Dodger Stadium
in a game that obviously is a must-win for L.A.,
is to kind of control those emotions early on
and get that command under control as well.
because, as you said, the contact will be loud for the Dodgers.
So we will see if he can handle the emotions
and also just trust that defense behind him to kind of get him through
for however many innings he is out on the field tonight, Tim.
Brandon, to further that with the defense,
Luis Lara made a good early catch last night.
Garrett Mitchell made a nice diving catch last night
to support a young left-hander.
Tonight it's another young left-hander.
This is really more than just one aspect
of baseball for these guys, is it not?
And that's the thing.
I mean, you look at what Garrett Mitchell can
do in center specifically.
He can go all the way from right field to left field.
In fact, I think he was joking that anything
that Jackson Churio sees to his left,
that's going to be Garrett Mitchell's ball.
And the fact that they're able to cover
so much ground and he's so quick out there,
you know, most balls that might fall
in other places, he's able to track down.
And then you look at the play up the middle in the infield,
the double plays that they've been able to turn early on.
there weren't any last night
but in the previous games that has been huge for these pitchers because
trouble goes away rather quickly
when the defense is solid behind him and that's what they've had
for the most part sure they've been in a handful
of errors in this series but they haven't cost
the brewers a game and that to me is where
the confidence behind the pitcher is so so important
interesting stuff we watched the replays there Robert Gasser
was pretty fired up when Mitchell
made the catch, so it does all work together.
Before I let you guys go, are you working
for a game five or not?
Brandon? I'm sorry, could you say
that one more time? I missed it. Will you be
working for a game five?
I don't think so. I think the Brewers
take care of the business today. I think this is
their situation to
be handled. I don't think they want
to see a Friday. Lily?
I'm going to agree with
Brandon. I think they close it out in game four
with the reverse sweep of last year
having gotten swept by the Dodgers, so I think they
make history being the first team to do that, Tim.
Wow. All right. Brandon Cruz, Lily Zott.
Great to have you guys with us from L.A.
We'll broom it on out of here, according to those two.
We'll be back to Ben and Mary in just a moment.
And a real quick check on your forecast.
A freeze watch for most areas away from the lake Saturday morning.
So this is 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturday.
And temperatures will be about 30 to 35 on Saturday morning.
Coldest will be inland.
Tonight, we've got the rain making its way through.
More rain coming in from the southwest.
Light rain continues on and off throughout the nighttime hours tonight.
We've already had over three-tenths of an inch at Mitchell
and about an inch in some of our northern and northwestern communities.
Temperatures holding in the 50s here throughout the evening
with the wind eventually picking up later on tonight.
Quick look at your six-day here.
A lot of sun by the weekend, so more rain and a lot of wind tomorrow.
Sunshine by the weekend.
Guys, back over to you.
Oh, and that sunshine. All right. Thank you, Tom.
Well, the Milwaukee Brewers fever in full force taking over the area.
We went out to Waterford in Racine County.
We spoke with the family.
It was a really impressive setup, and this run means a lot to them.
Last Saturday, we were sitting Saturday morning having coffee,
talking about the series coming up,
and I said I want to do something big.
I think this is a year I feel very strong and just wanted to go all out
and put up as many decorations as I could.
um also doing it big for my pops that passed last year
at this time um he missed it i missed
the playoffs so wanted to do something big for him remember way back
when when spray paint was like
three bucks a can well now it's six
so with all in all about 500 bucks
okay yep yeah uh maybe a little more my neighbor across
the street he said i was inspiration for
for the neighborhood because that took a lot
of work they were watching me everybody was seeing
yeah everybody was walking by watching
so they they said i'm dedicated which i've always been
dedicated whether we were up
or down for seasons it didn't matter i was always there this is dear
to my heart we were in italy at this time actually
at this time last year when i had to get bad news
about my father and missing the playoffs at the same time
so i got two big big heart pieces my
brewers and my pops so it's holding dear
and i know he's watching them from up there this year
with euchre and partying on and rooting them
on i give a lot of credit to pat murphy i think he's
the best and i think we would not be here without him period
and i gave the brewers a nickname i'm
in the works of trying to get a t-shirt i call them papa murphy
and the scrappy kids because
they never give up just like mitchell said we're
in it to the last out they scrap it
papa murphy and the scrappy kids i like that i
do too they are passionate oh worth every
penny of that 500 bucks
because that looks great it sure does good work we'll be right back
