3 children, 1 adult dead in Oregon school attack

That breaking news is out of the Pacific Northwest, a mass shooting at a school in Bend, Oregon. Hello, everybody. I'm Heather Hayes. I'm Casey Stegall. We now have confirmation that children died in this attack happening at Silver Rail Elementary School. It's about 170 miles southeast of Portland. Fox 4's Sean Rabb, live in the newsroom as it comes in. Sean. Yeah, heartbreak tonight in Bend, Oregon. Four people are dead, one adult, three children among the shooter's victims. And the shooter is dead also. Let's get you quickly to what we know. We'll first take you to video footage from a live local affiliate there in Bend, Oregon. Silver Rail Elementary has an enrollment of more than 450 children plus faculty and staff. There are reports that the shooter, again, who is dead, and this is unconfirmed right now, but we believe that he was shot by a bystander, either a teacher or staff member, or maybe another adult who was inside the school. All of this happening about 1 p.m. Pacific time. First report to police was a shot fired into a car at the school. Officers notified to respond to a critical incident. Police were on scene in a matter of two, maybe three minutes. But it appears the shooter was already down when officers arrived. The damage already done, lives taken. In that time, the shooter did manage to get inside the school. The question, how the shooter got inside and who took the shooter down? Students being bused to a nearby church for unification with their parents. Listen to a bit of the first update from the Bend Police Department's spokesperson. Our officers were on scene at approximately 1.02 p.m. Seconds later, we received word over the radio that the suspect in this incident was down. We received multiple 911 calls during this incident just in those two minutes reporting an active shooter in Silver Rail Elementary School. So now we're waiting to hear from city and school leaders, FBI on scene, and the FBI, of course, will assist with evidence gathering and the executing of any search warrants at the shooter's address if they are from a local address there in that community, as well as the FBI will try and search for a possible motive, including scouring through any social media the shooter may have. All of that may come into focus once the identity of the shooter is determined. Again, one adult, three children dead in the latest U.S. school shooting. Sad, sad story tonight.
