Jennifer Aniston gave me a dildo as a present.
What's wrong with that?
What's wrong with that?
I was going to give you a dildo as a present.
It had rhinestones pasted on it.
You couldn't even use it. Jesus Christ.
Jennifer Aniston is being accused of giving
a director a rather inappropriate gift
and allegedly doing it to humiliate
her in front of an entire film crew.
Director Penelope Spheeris recently shared
the story during an appearance
on the Moynihan Report podcast,
claiming the incident happened
while working on the 2011 Lifetime anthology film Five.
According to the 80-year-old filmmaker,
the incident took place at the end of the
shoot when an assistant director asked
her to sit in a chair as the crew
gathered around. A producer
then approached with a gift box, which Spheeris
initially thought was a sweet gesture.
But when she opened it, she claimed she
found a sex toy covered in rhinestones.
Spheeris recalled being upset that she
was expected to open the gift in front of everyone, calling the gesture
mean-spirited. She also claimed the toy
was so heavily decorated that it was
unusable.
It's a decorative dildo.
It was a mean-spirited dildo
to humiliate me in front of the whole crew.
From Jennifer Aniston.
So why does she believe the gift came from Aniston?
Spheeris pointed to another encounter
the following year when the two were nominated
for a Director's Guild Award in 2012.
She said Aniston approached her carrying
a similar gift box and explained that it was
a present for Friends co-creator Marta Kaufman.
Spheeris recalled recognizing the packaging,
claiming it was the same kind of box Aniston used for her gifts.
She comes over to where I'm at, and I said,
oh, what do you got in there, another dildo?
She goes, no, it's a present for Marta Kaufman.
I said, okay, well, but it was the same box.
It was the same gift box.
So those are Jennifer Aniston's gift boxes.
The director concluded her account by joking
that she would probably get sued for sharing the story.
For context, Five was a breast cancer-themed anthology.
featuring five short films,
with Aniston and Spheeris each directing a segment.
Alicia Keys, Demi Moore,
and Patty Jenkins also directed portions of the project.
At the time, Anderson described her goal
for the film to Glamour as being informative,
without being heavy-handed,
emphasizing how cancer affects families, friends, and communities.
The actress also visited a breast cancer center
with then-Second Lady Jill Biden
the following month, where she spoke with survivors.
While Spheeris has now shared her account
of the alleged onset incident, Aniston has
not publicly responded to the accusation in the reporting provided.
