Jonathan, it looks pretty active behind you,
flashing lights, caution tape.
What are you seeing out there?
That's right.
Well, we now know that a fire broke out here
on the second floor of this commercial building
down Crotona Park East Street here in the Bronx.
The fire chief tells me one firefighter suffered minor injuries,
but was treated at the scene here by EMS.
Now, as you mentioned, we can now want
to show you what it looks like here.
This is some of the damage that has been left behind,
as you can see here at this hour at 1717 West Farms Road.
The windows on the second floor where that blaze began
are now shattered as some of the bricks outside
of the building are completely charred.
FDNY Chief Battalion Christopher Coppola tells me they
were alerted of the fire at around 1:52 Thursday morning.
In just four minutes, crews arrived at the scene.
As you can see, there are trucks
and firefighters down West Farms Road during their response.
Even citizen video showing you crews getting right to work.
We're told approximately 100 firefighters battled
the blaze that took more than an hour to put out.
We had heavy fire out the second floor windows of the fire building.
We started to do an interior attack,
but due to the volume of fire and the construction of the building,
We pulled the members out, conducted an exterior attack.
And the fire chief says luckily there weren't
any workers inside during the response
and that fire has since been put out.
Fire marshals are now working to investigate what caused that fire
as they try to get a hold of the building's owners.
