How to Make Lumiose Galette from Pokemon X and Y

Oct 11, 2026

How to make the Kalos region specialty, which doubles as a holiday treat: Lumiose Galette!

The Pokemon X and Y treat doubles as a mince meat pie that will actually taste good, I promise! My recipe takes a few variations that make it not taste so....for the lack of a better word, "British."

Also! I learned to make the design of the galettes from Lvl 1 Chef, Bryan Connor. Check out his stuff here!

Filling:
1 green apple, quartered
1/3 cup golden raisins
1/4 cup dried figs
1/4 cup dried apricots
1/3 cup dried cranberries
1/2 lemon, juice and zest
1/2 grapefruit, juice and zest
2 tsp cornstarch
1/3 cup dark brown sugar
2 TBL butter shortening
1/4 cup brandy, optional
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp vanilla
Pinch of allspice
Pinch of clove
1 TBL butter
Pinch of salt

Frozen puff pastry
1 egg
2 tsp water

Meat grinder directions: In a large bowl, place your quarters apple, raisins, figs, apricots and cranberries. Run them through your meat grinder into another bowl.

No meat-grinder directions: Chop your dried fruit into small pieces and place into a bowl. Using an box grater, grate your apple into the fruit.

Add zests, nutmeg, allspice, and clove. Add grapefruit and lemon juice. Add brandy, if you’re using it. Add butter and sugar, and vanilla. Stir to combine. Stir in cornstarch and salt. Refrigerate overnight for flavors to meld if you like.

To make galettes: In a small bowl, whisk together egg and water. Roll out frozen puff pastry. Punch out rounds of your desired size. In the center of one round, place about 2 tsp - 1 TBL of filling depending on the size.

Brush the bottom edge of the round with the egg. Top with another round and pinch to seal. Using a sharp knife, make an arc at three different points of the circle. Make similar arcs going from the center to the edge. I’m doing a bad job of describing it….just watch the video, it’s easy!

Brush every inch of the top, minus the little triangle center. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until the top and bottom of the galettes are golden brown. Remove from the pan quickly but carefully. Serve warm or room temp.

Note: Great on their own, even better with a little vanilla ice cream.

You can also assemble the galettes and freeze them on a pan, then store them in a tiptop bag. Then, you can bake them whenever, straight from the freezer.
