Alright, we're making banana pudding
that won't taste like the kind you get at crappy
potlucks.
First, we're going to make vanilla pudding.
Now you can use the box kind if you like,
but homemade tastes way better.
Here's what you need.
So, in a small saucepan, add your egg, your sugar, and your cornstarch.
Whisk it up, and add your Greek yogurt,
which I think gives the pudding a little bit more
depth and it won't be so cloying.
Now add your milk,
and bring it to a boil over low heat and stir constantly.
Once the bubbles start to creep up,
turn off the heat and add your butter and your vanilla
extract.
Alright, now place your pudding in a small bowl
and refrigerate it until cool.
At least an hour, but I usually leave it at a couple
because I want it to kind of thicken.
In the meantime, here's the stuff you're going
to need for your banana foster.
In a small saucepan, melt your butter,
add your sugar, and your nutmeg, and cook the
whole thing on medium heat.
Now take a ripe banana, slice it up,
add it to the pan, and kind of toss it so that it's
coated in the caramel.
careful that sugar is super hot okay now we're going
to want to do this off the
heat on the counter add your bourbon
and light it up with a match see pretty
flames that's gonna add a lot of flavor
to the bananas once the flames dissipate
you're gonna want to place it back
on medium heat and cook it for a couple
minutes just until the sauce tightens up
a little now place your bananas in a
small bowl and allow them to cool all right now you can put your banana
pudding in anything I like to use
a small glass pudding cup but you can use
whatever you want.
First you're gonna want to put a little bit of pudding in
the bottom of the cup, top
that with some crumbled vanilla wafers, then top that
with your bananas foster. Now this is how I do it
but really you can stratify the
layers any way you want
but I always top the top with some whipped cream. Now
cover in plastic and place your pudding
in the fridge for at least two hours
because you want the flavors to melt.
Now I top mine with some more vanilla
wafers and some bananas to kind
of show folks what's inside. Make sure you try
and dig to the bottom with every spoonful
so you get a little bit of every
YUMMY LAYER! YUM!
