As the LIVE went on, people kept asking “What’s wrong with her?” because her eyes were closed at times. Let me be clear: nothing was wrong.
My mom is 80 years old and living with dementia.
Resting is normal.
Closing your eyes doesn’t mean someone is “out of it.”
And it definitely doesn’t mean something is wrong.
Even while resting, Mama had plenty to say—and those moments matter. Dementia doesn’t look one way, and aging doesn’t require constant alertness to be valid.
