In the trailer for Season 8 of The Kardashians, Kim discusses her diagnosis of esophagitis. This condition causes inflammation and irritation of the esophagus, which is difficult for her to process. In a particularly emotional scene, someone off-camera asks Kim if this was how her father died. The camera then cuts to Kris Jenner, as she visibly struggles with her emotions in response. Robert Kardashian SR died from esophageal cancer in 2003. Kim shared that his sickness was a shock, diagnosed just eight weeks before his passing. She wishes her father could see her life now and watch her kids grow up. Despite her diagnosis, Kim clarified her esophagitis is not the same as esophageal cancer. In 2019, the Kardashian-Jenner family opened the UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for esophageal health in his honor.
