Well, more on the violence that erupted at the West Indian American Day Parade
in Brooklyn. Two shootings, three people were hit. Fox five's Kendall
Green live in Crown Heights with the breaking story today. Kendall.
Good evening, Steve. Police are investigating two separate shootings
in just over 30 minutes involving three different victims. And here's
what we know as we get you some of that video from the scene earlier. Now,
just after four this evening, police report a man was shot in his backside
and the area, as you know, really busy with folks enjoying the festivities
right here at the West Indian Day Parade toward the tail end of the
parade. And please report that victim was taken to the Kings County Hospital,
thankfully in stable condition. And they say the person believed to be
responsible was taken into custody here on scene now, about 35 minutes away,
just about half a mile away on Eastern Park Parkway in Kingston Avenue. Police
say a woman was grazed in the leg. Also, a male was grazed in both legs.
The circumstances leading to either scene still under unclear right now at
the moment, but those in the crowd at the moment of the first year that they
share, they heard a pop followed by sudden commotion through the crowd.
Let's take a listen to some of those witnesses. We heard something like a
pop and we just saw a bunch of people started moving. Not really sure what
was going on at first because once you see people running, you just skip the
inclination to run. So we locked the doors for a brief moment just to give
us our patrons some some safety. We just saw a crowd running and then we
heard a pop and the police is here as a deterrent. But unfortunately, personal
responsibility does have to come into play. You can put a million, you can
put the entire New York City police force here. If somebody wants something
to happen, something's gonna happen.
So far, no reports of an arrest in that second shooting. But this comes as
city officials, they decided to move this parade up 30 minutes to ensure
public safety. However, those results, we're still waiting to see how how
things go for the rest of my life. I'll see you back here.
