Well, welcome back. If you don't know what to do this weekend, we have some
really great ideas for you and your family. Joining us now is Erica Bigelow
with Seattle's Child magazine. Hey, Erica. Hey, good morning. Good morning.
Good to see you. You always bring the fun. So first we're talking about this
this week nonstop. The Washington State Fair is back. But what's going on down
in Kittitas this weekend? Yes, you have. You have many fair options this weekend
and this one is just a little bit east in Ellensburg. So this is the
Ellensburg Rodeo and Kittitas County Fair happening all weekend. And the
Ellensburg Rodeo has earned its place as one of America's top 10 professional
rodeos. It's just two hours from Seattle. They started back in 1923 and
the rodeo has grown from a local competition among ranch hands to an
event with over 600 contestants. So you can head out I-90 this weekend and
watch riders and ropers and wrestlers compete and then head right into the
Kittitas County Fair to see the 4H animal barns up and all the animals up
close. You can ride carnival rides, explore the art barns and of course eat
all the best fair food because what is a fair without the yummy fair food? So
this is a great weekend for all ages. The rodeo runs about three hours each
day, but the fair stays open until late into each night. And then also Monday,
the fair admission is free for everyone. So something great to do this weekend.
Okay, this one sounds yummy. A festival for everything blackberry and
Bremerton. Yes, absolutely. And oh my gosh, just walking around Seattle and
you pass blackberry bushes and people are grazing like all month, right? And
so if you were worried that berry season is over, you can never fear the
Bremerton Blackberry Festival is happening this weekend. It's bursting
with berries. It is just steps from the Seattle Bremerton Ferry and it's a
waterfront bash full of all things blackberry like cobblers and pies and
doughnuts and ice cream. They've got wine and jams and sauces over 150
vendors. Plus you can enjoy live entertainment. There's a kids stage, a
craft area, a magician. They've got stem activities and face painting and
more. And this is all along the Bremerton boardwalk and the event is
free, but you want to bring some money for incidentals. That sounds like fun.
Okay, for some of us fall came way too quick. What about a way to soak in the
last little teeny tiny bit of Seattle summer? If you can call it that with
some music. Yes, absolutely. The Ballard Locks concerts have been going on all
summer. This is the final weekend of this summer for these concerts and
they've got a great lineup set up. So today you can enjoy the Washington
State Letter Carriers band tomorrow. They've got Celtic Group Third Harbor
and on Monday they present Moon Dance of Van Morrison band. So there's a
whole bunch of fun things to go see and you just need to bring your own chair,
bring a picnic, bring a blanket and this is at the Hiram Chittenden Locks and
this is at their beautiful botanical gardens. It's free from 2 to 4 30 today,
tomorrow and Monday. Yeah, those botanical gardens are awesome. Okay,
how about an event that's all about getting to know our marine life and the
Yes, they've got see you at the waterfront happening. This is today.
This is something Seattle Aquarium puts on and you can join their staff for
this free public programming and explore plankton pals. So it's a drop
in program that's incorporating art and science and self reflection and
connection with our waterways and all the creatures that use them. And the
programs are taking place along Alaskan Way and Madison Street at Pier 58. It's
also on the ocean pavilions rooftop. So today, 11 30 to 3 30. This is a free
event, super fun way to get down to the waterfront and it's gonna be really
fun. I love that their little free events are so cool. Their marine
biologists are so knowledgeable and even if even if you don't have like a
little kiddo, like it's still fun as an adult, you always learn something new.
I love that. Thank you. Yes. All right. Good to see you. Yes, we have a link to
all of those up on our website. FOX 13 Seattle dot com. If you missed out or
