We've seen some big improvements, but some more rain would still be helpful.
After a very dry start to the summer, we've picked up some beneficial rain
recently. 22 News Storm Team Meteorologist Adams Tremco is working
for you with how that has helped us with the drought conditions that we
were experiencing. Well, C. R. And Christina, we've seen some big
improvements, but some more rain would still be helpful. It was a beautiful
September day across western Massachusetts. We flew Skyview 22 over
the Connecticut River and Riverfront Park in Springfield Friday. With the
rain we've been getting over the last couple of months, everything is
looking pretty green. The Connecticut River levels are down a bit, though,
from what they were last month. According to the latest U. S. Drought
Monitor, while we are no longer experiencing drought conditions, a good
part of western Massachusetts is experiencing abnormally dry conditions
right now. Parts of eastern and northern New England are still
experiencing moderate and even severe drought conditions. And despite the
fact that we are no longer in a drought here in western Massachusetts, water
restrictions still remain in effect for a number of cities and towns. And so
far for the month of September, we've picked up almost an inch and a half of
rain.
