Incumbent Congressman Richard Neal
and Independent Challenger Nadia Milleron
debating in their first and only debate before the November midterms.
22 News reporter Aretha Odaya joins us live
in studio with a closer look at the candidates
and how you can re-watch all the action.
Certainly a passionate debate here at our 22 News studios.
It's two candidates looking for a two-year term to represent
the 1st Congressional District of Massachusetts.
Their one and only debate here at 22 News,
the two candidates running
to represent Massachusetts' first congressional district.
Incumbent Democrat Richard Neal seeking
his 20th term in the House of Representatives.
I am here because I am totally supporting Richie Neal
to be re-elected to Congress.
He's done a fantastic job working for the people.
And independent challenger Nadia Milleron,
a mother, farmer, and attorney.
I've never met anyone who really has such determination and grit.
You know, this is something that's just so brutal to campaign.
Neal's supporters lining up outside
our station early Wednesday morning.
Miller on with a different approach,
saying there's no need to have supporters standing outside.
I just thought that it was a waste of their time to come
to the TV studio when they could do work for the campaign.
I met all of Neal's supporters and I shook their hands
and they were very cordial and some of them are going to vote for me.
The debate included topics surrounding tax cuts,
rising health care costs, tariffs,
President Trump, AI, the war in Iran, and more.
This suggestion that she could deny all
of these things over the course of this election campaign.
No, blatant falsehood that Mr. Neal is perpetrating.
Both candidates sharing how they felt about their performance.
Well, I delivered for the district.
I mean, I pointed out the accomplishments that we've had,
and nobody really disputes that.
I think that we made the points that we wanted to make.
I feel that I didn't speak so smoothly,
but that I got out all my points.
Yes, I was nervous because this is so important.
Now it's up to the voters to have their say
on who they want in that House seat
November 3rd for the midterms.
And if you missed the debate, no worries,
because it will rebroadcast in about an hour at 7 p.m.
Working for you, Aretha Odaya, 22 News.
