Russia is attempting to protect its critical facilities from Ukrainian UAVs by installing protective structures on them, according to Clash Report , which published photos.
"Russia continues to install anti-drone defenses around critical infrastructure," the publication reports.
The published photographs claim that the fuel storage tanks are located in the Moscow region. They show protective structures installed, which Russia claims will protect them from Ukrainian strikes. As a reminder, Kremlin dictator Putin previously stated that Russia allegedly only had 10% of its oil refineries left to repair following the Ukrainian attacks. At the same time, he claimed to have ordered his troops to launch massive strikes against Ukraine's energy sector, calling this "retaliation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strikes on oil refineries."
It's worth noting that in late July, the Financial Times reported that Russian refineries would remain in darkness for months following "deep strikes ." By that time, Ukrainian strikes had already knocked out more than 30 percent of the actual and 45 percent of the nominal capacity of Russia's oil infrastructure. Journalists also noted that, starting in 2022, Russia had significantly strengthened the security of these facilities, including by installing nets. However, in practice, this has proven ineffective against waves of drones.
It's worth noting that following this, the Defense Forces launched a series of strikes against Russian oil facilities. Specifically, on the night of August 30, Ukrainian forces struck one of Russia's largest oil refineries in the Leningrad Region. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Kirishi Oil Refinery is the second-largest oil refinery in the Russian Federation and the largest in the country's northwest, located in the Leningrad Region.
The plant's annual capacity is approximately 20 million tons of oil. It produces motor fuels, aviation fuel, diesel fuel, and other petroleum products. The plant serves the needs of the Russian Armed Forces. The General Staff also reported that a strike drone storage, preparation, and launch site in Millerovo, Rostov Oblast, was damaged. A fire was detected. In addition, the Yeysk airfield in Yeysk, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, was damaged, leading to a fire at the facility. As reported, drones attacked warehouses of the OZON marketplace and DNS , as well as a shipbuilding facility in the Rostov region.
A drone attack caused a massive fire in the warehouse of DNS, a retailer of digital and household appliances. OZON officially confirmed that one of its logistics facilities in the Rostov region was also hit. In addition, according to monitoring channels, during the night attack, a shipyard in the Aksai region was also hit, where a ship caught fire.
Also, according to satellite data from the NASA FIRMS service, a fire broke out overnight at a military airfield in the village of Gvardeyskoye in temporarily occupied Crimea.
