Take a look here at your NLE standings as of today.
The Phillies and Braves are right there at the top.
Phillies are four games back, but that obviously is going to change within the coming days.
The Phillies do have off tomorrow, and then these two will be playing each other over
the weekend.
I will have plenty of time to talk about it.
In fact, Breeland and I will be live there at the ballpark Friday.
That is the plan.
So that will be very exciting.
You know the crowd is going to be ready to go.
The Phillies get a much-needed day off.
A great road trip, I'd say.
Not good.
Great.
The way they played.
As a matter of fact, when you look at what the one, two, and four hitters are doing with
this team, did it on this road trip.
They were terrible.
19 for 106.
So you're talking about Schwarber, Turner, and Arise combined.
They went 19 for 106.
That's a 179 average.
And if you said these guys would play like this and the team would go 6-3 on this trip,
that's incredible.
So, just think of how good the Phillies will be when these guys light up.
Schwarber, you know, they're still winning games without the Schwarbomb.
That's good.
I think that's good news that they're still winning despite these guys struggling.
Well, because, you know, we have had that conversation over and over and over again
that a lot of times this team becomes a live and die by the home run type of team and they
can't play more small ball style baseball.
And so it's really good to see, is this sustainable?
I sure hope so.
We've got, what, 25 days remaining in the regular season.
That's not too terribly long, but it is long enough for this to go off the tracks.
I just feel like I have, like many of you, have a little PTSD from previous seasons when
it comes to this time of, oh, they look great right now, but are they going to go quiet
when it really counts?
What is it?
What's the date today?
September 2nd, 6.38 p.m.
Trey Turner is going to get hot and he's going to carry this team for a stretch, maybe even
in October.
I'm calling it.
I've not given up on this guy.
I still think he's just going through a rough stretch.
He's got the pedigree, he's got the resume.
He's going to get hot at some point.
He hasn't gotten hot all year.
It's going to happen at some point.
So that's my prediction.
You can play it back and screenshot it when he either does or doesn't do it.
Having said that, this team is filled with stars and MVPs, so that's our Go Vote question.
Who is the Phillies MVP so far this season?
Schwarber has at times been electric.
Bryce Harper, we'll discuss whether he's elite or not.
Christopher Sanchez, your all-star game starter, and boy was he on fire earlier in the year,
or other.
And I think this is an interesting debate.
I'm surprised to see Bryce only getting 3% here.
Well, maybe we'll get some explanations for that coming up, because we will discuss about
Bryce Harper being elite.
And I want to come back to that when we have that conversation, because maybe some people
will weigh in during the break here.
But 3% is a little lower than I anticipated.
I didn't expect him to run away with it, but 3% is...
That's...
Yeah.
I'm not even sure that changes.
Let's go to the fan camp.
You know, it's amazing what happens when you have somebody batting after you, you know?
For years, what have we been missing?
That guy behind Bryce.
Now all of a sudden, we had a rise.
Oh, okay, things change, huh?
Well, Bryce's August is elite on another level.
Come on, guys.
Bryce is and has been elite.
Well, I don't know about that.
I don't know about that.
Yeah.
Do we have another fan camp?
Let's go to it.
Dombrowski's comments definitely lit a fire under Bryce this year, as he's definitely
just a tad below MVP-type numbers this year.
Great production at the plate.
He's coming through in the clutch.
I'd just like to see him not strike out as much and be more prudent on the bases, but
he's having an awesome season.
And he is consistent.
I mean, one of the greatest months of his career as far as on base goes.
So let's go back to Arcovo, which was, who's the MVP of this team?
Another fan cam on that.
To me, the MVP for the Phillies this season can only be one man, and that's Kyle Schwerber.
He's got 83 RBIs, 40 home runs.
The only man who's got enough that could even come close to that is Bryce Harper.
But I think the difference maker is those RBIs.
Yeah.
The difference is, I'll take what he's doing now, the consistency, no strikeouts, getting
on base.
That plays in October.
I'll take that over, you know, a week of, you know, five home runs.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, we're going to take a time out here.
I'm going to weigh in on this after, because we are going to discuss a little bit more
about Bryce Harper in just a bit.
But if you would like to weigh in, here is your phone number.
All you have to do, like our friends that you just saw, Selfie Style Video, choose that
number or that QR code, tell us your thoughts, and we'll put you on TV.
But for right now, we'll be right back.
