Things just took a MAJOR Turn... (and I love it)

Things just took a major twist for the Los Angeles Dodgers as one player who we thought to be done in the field for the Year now has a sliver of hope that he could be back catching this season after being activated off the IL yesterday Rushing now says he could be a catcher by the end of the season into the postseason We'll tell you the latest details on it and all you need to know here today on a Dodgers digest welcome everybody I'm Jason Andrews, and I hope you're having a great day wherever you guys might be This is an interesting one Dalton rushing who got activated yesterday off the injured list got to be in a pinch hit opportunity last night Did strike out and the Dodgers continuously can score eight runs, but then the offense gets going in the pitching fall So it's just the way it's gone the past couple of weeks But let's focus on Dalton rushing because he has made some interesting statements over the past 24 48 hours So Dodgers Nation had this tweet put out saying that rushing revealed that he hopes to be fully built up for the Dodgers by the postseason Including catching now This is a very shocking thing and that is because we thought that he was gonna be done catching this season In fact, we had reports come out from a multitude different sources including Dave Roberts himself Basically saying there is a very small chance of him catching this season In fact, we have the article right here rushing who's handled the duties of being the team's top catcher for most much of the season Due to Will Smith Will Smith's absence Suffered a slight tear in his ulnar collateral ligament earlier this season and had what manager Dave Roberts called a very small chance of catching again in 2026 but now he says he's ramping up and the potential is there for him to be catching by the postseason Which would obviously be a very big help for the Los Angeles Dodgers who did DFA Ben road for yesterday So the catching duties you'd like to have that extra guy in there and rushing can certainly be it in terms of what his exact Quotes were here is kind of a couple things that we know This is Jack Harris saying Dalton rushing had taken a few live a bees lately and taken a lot off the traject traject Which felt good enough obviously for him to be activated now without any rehab stint did not have to see him go Into Oklahoma City or Tulsa. He's also advancing in his throwing program and is quote very optimistic about being able to catch again this year, so What are the actual chances because we all know especially from seeing comments from players throughout the season They're all gonna say. Oh, yeah, I'm gonna be able to play or I'm gonna be able to do this I mean heck when you talk about show him the pitching things This obviously has to come from the managerial spot of him of Dave Roberts saying yeah, we're gonna do that But rushing is in full confidence Here is kind of what he has said in regards to the absence and to him potentially catching this season saying quote Honestly, I don't really have a set date for when I'm catching nor a set time frame Whatever they tell me to do throwing wise I've kind of said yes, sir and went with it But it's up to me to be as transparent as possible with the team on how it's feeling and that will create the next step Of how we go about this do we speed up the process or do we slow it down? I'm just thankful that I have an opportunity to help this team and I'm obviously very excited that Dalton rushing is here to help I mean that is a big thing and I'm very happy to see him back and Not not to take away credit, but the catching wasn't exactly the most amazing thing when he was playing But the batting was I mean you look at average up there a little over 250 the OB P sending above 300 slugging above 470 OPS north of 800 like it was a very good bat for Dalton rushing And in fact, I know the Will Smith came back and obviously got to see him yesterday Which was very exciting and ended up getting ahead as well as nice thing there to RBI The average still is not above what rushing is, but they're right around the same to 4 to 50 area So I do think that obviously in the perfect world you would want to have rushing and Smith available come the postseason I'm hopeful that can be what will be the option But we honestly just don't know at this point and that is where it's up to Dalton rushing and really his body like like how Exactly, can they go about you know, the return of him and how quickly it can be now He did have one other quote that I didn't think was pretty interesting saying quote. I like playing baseball I don't like watching baseball That's the main thing for me just being able to be on the field again Playing this role brings a lot of ups and downs and it's hard sometimes But essentially I'd rather play this role than be watching for nine innings Which is very much true and if it is going to be for the rest of the season where he's just on the bench He's just an extra bat Ultimately that is fun Like we'll take what we can get but at this moment it doesn't like a real possibility that he could catch Now the good news in all this is that if he cannot come back catching that's okay Hunter fiducia has been really producing for what you would expect So that's kind of a nice thing to have in there But you'd want to have Dalton rushing for sure in that opportunity to get out there get some a bees and you know If he's going to be a part of this Ross Which is what it seems like given the injury history of Will Smith that they're gonna keep Dalton at this point in time They're not gonna treat it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just see that as a big fit and I'm hopeful that he can get more than just you know A couple opportunities playing DH at times when show he gets a day off or maybe playing first base I don't really know what the plan is like at that point, but fiducia has actually been pretty solid for this team So give credit where credit is due 240 average when you're talking about a guy who came in and was just expected to be this kind of bridge gap catcher in Up taking the spot over Ben road for it I mean that's ultimately what it is now after you activated real Will Smith and Dalton rushing the guy who got Df8 was rose Rover not fiducia Which again everybody kind of thought there was a foregone conclusion that once Will Smith did come back It's gonna be him being cut not road vert just because of the history we've had but either way I am very you know Hopeful that we can see the return of Will Smith of Dalton rushing. Excuse me Will Smith being back That was a huge help I mean that obviously is going to be the biggest part of all this is if he can stay healthy like if he can stay Healthy and you have fiducia you're gonna be in a good spot. No matter what even if Dalton rushing can't come back I just found it very interesting because you know, we heard from Dave Roberts and I just showed you it was a like Very slim chance that we saw rushing catching but if that's an opportunity that we can, you know snap on I'm very much going to take that and allow for a little bit of opportunity to rest Will Smith at times Now they can do that right now with fiducia but Again with rushing he's been very, you know, pretty very good at the dish this year Obviously had some ups and downs at times as well with his emotions But he is a pretty decent part of this team to add on and a guy who can be a big part of this Postseason roster, so I'm hopeful that can continue into you know, the the postseason of him catching potentially right now This is all the details we've had Again what it sounds like is he's gonna be reporting to the Dodgers Injury staff basically saying hey, this is how I feel. This is what we're doing Am I comfortable going out there and catching that that's one thing He also can play first base which arguably I'd like to have him at first base more just to give Freddy some time off at Time now Freddy's been great But again, just making sure we're able to give Will and Freddy their equal times off would be just a very nice thing to have So, let me know what you think though down in the comment section about Dalton rushing Like do you think that he'll be able to catch? It'll be in the postseason to my thought though I don't know. They're gonna rush him back in the regular season, but it's gonna be something they're gonna have an as an option Should they need it in the postseason and I believe there's gonna be an option where they're gonna be like, hey We can put rushing out there's gonna have to have them catch and they're gonna do it Like it's as simple as that So hopefully that throwing program can continue to go successful in the way that we've been hearing and again It's all about the feeling for him and we'll kind of have to wait and see and get you updated on how exactly that works But hopefully they can just produce some better games What we've seen last night was a bit frustrating a bit maybe is a little underwhelming of a statement there But you score eight runs and you'll lose 13 to 8. It was just it's not good And hopefully, you know, we can get the starting rotation That's what we want before we get in the postseason And of course, we got a little bit of time, but it's definitely winded link down now, but appreciate you watching That's what you think and see you next time
