Dodgers URGED To Make Crucial Trade...
Oct 20, 2026
Los Angeles Dodgers have been urged to make
a crucial trade before the beginning of next season
as multiple changes that have already occurred
this offseason have sparked a major debate as to
what the Dodgers are going to do to fill this one role.
We're going to be breaking down what the
internal options are, who this trade is for,
and where things are currently heading for this
Dodgers team folks we have a lot to break down here
in today's video as we know that there is
something on the horizon once this World Series ends
the Dodgers are ready to strike we're gonna
be touching on all of that here in this video before we
do though folks i just want to say a
big thank you to all of you guys for helping us get
to our goal of 19,000 subscribers but
we already have a new one we're on the road to 20k
so if you haven't already and you want to
stay up to date with everything going
on with your Los Angeles Dodgers we're gonna have all
of the news here as it happens me
and Jace are getting multiple videos out here every single day
live stream everything you'll want right here on this channel
so be sure to hit that subscribe
button but i want to get into this because there's
been a lot of reports surrounding the utility
spot for this Dodgers team and more
so a super utility you see this here Terry Miller from
report going with this buying low
on Zach McKinstry after he hit 199 in 2026 is also on the table but
the Dodgers have been urged by multiple different sources
to go after Zach McKinstry and bring him
back to this Dodgers team
and look at the timeline of how this has kind of all gone on
2022 is when the Dodgers originally traded him
to the Cubs in the Chris Martin deal Rojas ends
is playing for this offseason,
who is someone who can play around the field, but there's
also a lot of uncertainty surrounding DJ Hernandez
and a few other players, that then leads to
kind of all roads coming back to Zach McKinstry
as this super utility option, knowing he can
play pretty much anywhere in the field,
and there's a big importance behind this because
of the fact that Dodgers, for years now,
have had that super utility in the locker room.
They want to make sure that you have that,
and this Dodgers team is a team right now
that utilizes the super utility a lot more than everyone else.
Now, there are options internally,
and that's one thing that I'm still going to point out
for the time being, because you still have
Tommy Edmonds, you still have Tyson Kim,
Kike Hernandez, you don't really know what's going to happen with him.
You know, his reactions
and his comments after this season almost seem like he thinks he
is going to be gone, but, I mean, we can't count that out.
But Zach McKinstry, for someone
who has struggled in the offense in this most recent season,
may not be the immediate option that a lot of people are thinking of.
You know, a .199 batting average, a .288 on base,
and a .294 slugging, really not great with an OPS of .582.
But knowing what he has done in the offense previously,
but also knowing his fielding ability,
there is a very good reason why Zach McKinstry
is back into the fit why he's back into the reunion
talk with this Dodgers team
and you see it here familiarity with the organization I think is one
thing to start off with but he covers the infield
and the outfield and like I said with Rojas
retiring with Kike Hernandez the uncertainty surrounding him
with a few other names that
may be on their way out
of this Dodgers organization plus the options of perhaps
Freddy Teosca-Fernandez, you know, Terawaki Sato being an option.
There's a lot of holes that still need to be filled,
even though this team, I think, still has a full identity.
And, you know, it's not really missing out on anything in specific.
But we've also seen the shortstop role, a lot of things just like that,
which is all having an impact on Zach McKinstry's reunion possibility.
Now, if you're looking at the offense, in 2025,
he's an all-star breakout season, a .259 average.
And you see there, .771 OPS on top of that, not necessarily
a power hitter, 12 home runs, 49 RBIs, 19 stolen bases in 144 games.
If you can get that performance back from Zach McKinstry,
I mean, this really does seem like a no-brainer.
Now, you obviously do see the drop-off in, you know,
career lows, season OPS and all that in 2026.
That's the worst of his career.
That's not one thing I really want to emphasize on,
because even though it is a career low,
you know, it was a pretty significant career low.
This wasn't something that has been a common factor for Zach McKinstry.
So, using him as an option as, you know, the defense,
but also on the offense,
he would really rely on his defense more so than anything.
Knowing he is that kind of super utility player,
which he plays everywhere except really first base and catcher,
although he could probably very well play first as well.
If you can get some offense from him,
that is just a bonus because we've never really
seen some crazy crazy numbers from our utility
players over the past couple of seasons now we've
also seen some good ones but nothing that's around
like that 300 average
and i don't think anyone really expects that from a player whose main
purpose is to go out there and fill every hole they can
when needed it could be game after game
after game zach mckinstry and many other players like him
who we've seen over the past couple of
seasons are capable of doing
that now I mean you're looking at his strength as well the
slugging is the weakest
but very low strikeout rate walk rate is very good as well so you're
using that as someone who can go up to bat may not get a hit
but will very well likely get on
base that is something as well to really consider
if you're looking at the outcome of this team now
you also want to make sure you're not relying
on McKinstry for that I think McKinstry is a player
that you go ahead and look at.
Once you have your offense sorted out,
then you can go and look at,
hey, could, let's just say,
Teruaki Sato, as I've made a couple videos on him so far,
could we put him in third?
Could we put him in right or left?
If you have, you know, any no's in that conversation,
Zach McKinstry is there for a game-by-game basis.
And I think, really, to me, right now,
that's what stands out as this being a legitimate option.
Now, the big change from, you know, 25 to 26
is that the power, you know, sharply fell.
you know getting on base became harder stolen bases
also declined well that 2025 all-star
bat is the upside like i said you can get that out
of Zach McKinstry throughout the season where
he's meant to be a utility guy
and a super utility at that that's just another bonus on
this potential trade
and i feel like the possibility of a bounce back is just huge you
know the extra bases we know that can return we know the walks
and contacts still have that
foundation but can only get better
but you know it's not a thing of bad luck either it really is
just kind of him not playing overly great last season
but the defensive fit I guess the main
the offense is one thing
but you're looking at a weakness 582 OPS regardless of that the depth
that he can provide and we pull up the depth chart here it's kind
of astronomical the way you can look
at it because this really reminds me of a Chris Taylor
this reminds me of you know any player that
we can possibly think of going back a long time
that can play anywhere in the field and if you
do look at right now this depth chart you can
really have Zach McKinstry at any position here
and Freddie Freeman he will have a role
of some player behind him whether it could be Dalton
rushing whether it may be uh you know Max Muncy on first a game
or two whether it's going to be
uh perhaps Teruaki Sato who could be a first baseman
although his natural position is third
You wouldn't need to work on that.
There is a lot of options that could have players on first.
A lot of people want to see Jose de Paula on first as well.
So, I really don't see first base being an issue at all.
But the fact that you have someone who can fill in any other role,
knowing that the Vets can move back to second,
Tommy Edmond could slot around all over the place.
You're looking at, perhaps,
Jeremy Pena or an Eli De La Cruz on shortstop.
Max Muncy can stay on third, but he's getting older,
may not be able to play every single game.
there are so many options that it's literally impossible
for me to go out and list every
single opportunity that McKinstry could bring
but given what he's been able to do and then you're
looking at this the openings
that are here Rojas retired TK Hernandez the uncertainty with him
Edmund Kim and Freeland remain options
but would you have you'd rather have Zach McKinstry who
he has a lot of coverage over the place
but also knowing that 25 bat is still there knowing that
you can get that back for a pretty good 260 average, let's call it,
over maybe 100 games with nine different positions under his belt.
That's something that you really want to see.
So McKinstry has a big fit here on this team.
I'm excited to see what it would entail
if the Dodgers do go about making this move.
But the thing is, he's not expensive at all either.
It would be a very big buy-low scenario.
You think that you're looking
at a player like Zach McKinstry on a cheap salary,
but also being able to trade for him,
I think the one big thing is you want to make sure
that you're not moving any crazy assets,
because you have internal options already, but if
you can get him for an incredibly buy-low price,
I am all on board, so folks, give me
your thoughts on this down below,
should the Dodgers pursue Zach McKinstry, A, B, or C,
yes, at the modest trade cost,
prefer internal utility options, or target a stronger bat,
I gotta go A, I really have to go A,
I think that at a modest trade cost, it's kind of
hard not to find the super utility
because the Dodgers don't necessarily have one exactly for
every position on the team right now plus
that to uh 2025 bat I think it's too interesting to pass
up so give me your thoughts on this down below
because I like this option and I want to know
what you guys think but we know that that is a role
that is going to have to be filled somewhere
on this team so give me your thoughts down below
that is all I have here in this one
if you did enjoy give it a like hit the sub button
as well I'm signing out thank you for watching
Hope you have a great day.
