The Dodgers Next Move Has Been Revealed...
Oct 18, 2026
The Dodgers' next move has been revealed,
as the latest reports surrounding what is
next for the Dodgers have thrown in the mix
a brand new name in the trade market, and
this gives Dave Roberts multiple different opportunities
to do what he has to do and
make some changes on this team.
We're going to be breaking down
the latest reports surrounding Jeremy Peña and how his
trade market has been opened up to the Dodgers
and this gives them a very interesting opportunity
we're gonna be breaking down the support here
in this video as well as going over the fit before
we do get into this video though ladies
and gentlemen we appreciate all of the support
we've gotten in these last couple of videos there's
an unfortunate end to the season but
right now a new season has already begun for the Dodgers
and there is a lot more stuff coming so
So, if you want to make sure to not miss anything with this Los Angeles
Dodgers team, be sure to drop a sub here on the channel.
Me and Chase are getting out multiple videos here every single day,
but I need to get into Jeremy Peña
because he has opened up a serious interest for this Dodgers team,
really because of the type of player he is.
Now, if you look at his season from last year, a 112 games,
a 277 batting average, 802 OPS, 22 home runs, 56 RBIs,
12 stolen bases, he is a seriously interesting player for the Dodgers,
and one of the biggest reasons behind this is because he is still
so young, but he has an immediate answer
to one of the Dodgers' biggest questions,
and that is the future of the shortstop position
because as of right now there are a lot of
discussions surrounding Mookie Betts can he stay there
are there other names internally on this
team the amount of players retiring is no help
to that there's a lot of questions right now that
are going to have to be answered
but Jeremy Peña probably is the easiest answer to that question
because of the type of player he is like I said being able
to hit the defense being something
want to talk about here in this video
but he answers your questions for years to come in the
shortstop position here on this team
and if we do compare him to the rest of the players that we
have on this team that can play shortstop it's pretty interesting
to look at because Jeremy
Pena although he has just a little bit I'll call it the same power
although I would ultimately say
he has more than Mookie Betts has one less home run than him
this season a nearly 20 point higher
OPS and a very very big jump in batting average compared
to anybody else who can play shortstop
for this team and although they do have a few options
and a few younger ones at that if we go
and look at the pipeline the Dodgers just have really
a lot of young players that you mainly
contribute to the outfield
and Jeremy Pena for a shortstop a natural shortstop makes it so you are
not altering any positions you're not throwing someone out
of position he fits there naturally
but also it gives Mookie the option to go back to second base
and with the retires uh the retired
players that we have had this season so far
and who else may leave this team that we really just
don't know yet it opens a lot of different doors for the Dodgers here
but if we look at the fit
this is the big reason why a productive right hander
that team has quite a few lefties and I
argue one of the most in the MLB
and having another right-handed bat who has
power who has speed who has a good mix of contact
and everything will always be
a benefit for this Dodgers team he's
an everyday shortstop you're not throwing
him out of position you're making sure
that you're giving this team the best
option but it gives you more options to deploy Mookie Betts
because he's getting
older his production has taken a little dip
but he's still a very very solid
player you may not always want to see him on shortstop
and this move for Jeremy Pena allows
that to happen now like I said the defense
is a real big question that has to be asked because
if we go ahead right here
and look at his defense the DRS the defensive run save of this season
took a very big dip and in 109 games actually
his season where he's played the least amount
of games thus far being a negative five DRS
but if history goes and proves one point if it goes
back and you look at from 2022 with the Astros he's had
a positive DRS every single year so
I don't think the Dodgers should just let
this one season kind of affect the idea of what kind
of defender he's been over his career
and if we do look at it in terms of DRS over his career
through five seasons he has a plus 27 DRS so you know
although this season may not have been the
best if you put him in a new infield you know obviously new systems
are going to change things
Jeremy Pena has been a player
that has shown historically he is able to hold down the fort
on defense so although you know it is something
to be discussed I don't think it should be as big
of an issue as it may seem of what people
are making it out to be and I mean you're looking
at the scouting report here obviously
the offense really seems to be his forte his bread and butter
his smash is career high in this season in home runs with 22
but the minus 5 DRS and minus 5
statcast fielding runs this season is the weakness
so you look over his career i think
you take away that weakness you maybe even add it to his strength
then you have a very solid
shortstop here in Jeremy Pena uh from everything you want
to see from him and i mean you're looking
at a home run this is just one against Oakland
on september 26th as an example 425 feet 109 up
bat his exit velo's there he's very good at getting to balls
and the second hardest hit
of all his batted balls this season,
the fourth longest home run of his season as well.
And I mean, it's a really good example,
kind of just a good show here of what he's capable
of doing with, you know, really any pitch that is offered up to him.
If it's reach, if you can reach it, Pena will get it.
And I feel like that's something that the Dodgers,
especially in the postseason, really
would have liked to have at a comfortable level.
Now, you're looking at the glove, obviously,
the reputation from his current game is probably
a little bit less than what it has been
over his career. The range and
positioning for
Jeremy Pena is still very, very good.
You want to make sure as well this season
where he did miss a few games, was a little bit
injured. You want to make sure he's healthy before
you involve in any
trade discussion whatsoever.
And if you're looking at the defense
here, these are the stats that you want to
see. If you're looking at the defender, keep
this in mind. The
FRV, the DRS, like I showed in that
graphic, for future players that we
discussed, and Jeremy Pena as well in here, you know what they mean?
This right here is what you're
going to want to keep in mind.
Now, with the players they have internally, there are options
for the Dodgers. You know, Haesung Kim,
he can play second, he can play shortstop. Mookie's still
here, you know. There's no, I would say,
absolute 100% need to go out and get a shortstop, but it
is a pretty big requirement that you have someone
that makes an impact in the MLB, and you see this
hear from Haesung Kim surrounding his season.
The most disappointing thing I've experienced in a while
while playing baseball, and keep
in mind, you know, I remember talking about
him thinking he could be our secret weapon
this season from spring training where he
was playing unbelievable, didn't make the
team, or excuse me, didn't really ultimately make
the team for this full season, had a
little bit of a, you know, a couple good games here and there,
but you saw a little while
ago, kind of his season overall was not what he wanted to be,
what really any of us wanted
to be either plus Tommy Edman you know he's another player
that still can play although in
84 games played just about half
this season eight home runs .714 ops .247 average i really like to
think of Tommy Edman more of a utility player than
a natural uh you know one position player
if you're looking at Tommy Edman as an option compared
to Jeremy Pena you throw Pena in short
stop Tommy Edman can play just about anywhere in the field
which is something that this Dodgers
team has had the benefit of with a lot of players over the past season
and I think that right now
with Kike Hernandez possibly going
with Miguel Rojas already retired Tommy Edmonds role of what
it has been is only going to get bigger
and I think that right now at least you want to make
sure you have that style of player that type
of player still in your organization biggest thing
though surrounding Jeremy Pena would be really the price
and I think that at the end of the day
the price wouldn't be cheap
but I think it's not as much as people really think because as for
Jeremy Pena yes he's still super young the Astros
are a team that you know still have some very good
players they are not as deep as they once
were and a lot of people are still looking at what
would it take what would the value hold
and the Dodgers luckily and very smart you know decision
of what they've done this season was they did not go ahead
and empty the pipeline their pipeline is
though very very full Zaire Hope pretty much
is the only player that was gone and he was traded
for Tarik Skubal which still may be an option with this team
but you're looking at the depth
chart right now you add Jeremy Pena
in here you have Freddie Freeman you have Mookie Betts you
have Max Muncy Will Smith Kyle Tucker Andy Pages
Oscar Hernandez Jose DePaula Shohei Otani I mean
you know your offense right there is everything you want it
to be and so is your defense you have
very little holes on this team if any
and your offense only gets better with that so looking at
it you know obviously the thing is going
to be the price what will it entail how will it be able to
kind of adjust dodgers for any other team it's going
to cost i'd say a couple players who are
capable of making the mlb right now
but also you've got to keep in mind that prospects are
going to be someone as well that the Dodgers will
be needing to give up in a trade with the Astros
And there are a few things to consider here surrounding
this that Jeremy Peña said this
after Houston's season.
I love the city.
I love everything about the Astros.
Hopefully, I can be here long term.
But, you know, I don't like to take these quotes
with much of a grain of salt because
we know anything can happen.
He's not going to go out and say that, oh,
you know, yeah, I actually hate the city.
I'm not going to play here.
No player will ever really say that.
So even though he has said this, you know,
that doesn't mean that the Astros won't consider
trading him.
That doesn't mean the Dodgers won't try
and make a push for a player like Jeremy Pena
right now the decision has to be made for the Astros
and with that being said whenever that's
done the Dodgers are going to get their hands on him
so when you're looking at it set your trade
limit I think that's one thing as well you have
to know if Houston will listen you have to see
what it will take for them what the cost is you have
to make sure he's healthy enough but you also
have to discuss the longer term plan
because you may be giving up a few prospects in the pipeline he's
still super young so it may make it worth it at the end of the day
so folks give me your thoughts
on this down below should the Dodgers trade Jeremy Peña yes
at the right price keep the internal
options or seek a different infielder it's still very early
in the offseason so we you know are
going to see a lot of different names here
but Jeremy Pena for me at least will be one that is
going to have a long-lasting uh intrigue on my mind
with this Dodgers team so folks give me your
thoughts on this down below about Jeremy Pena
and this team but that is all I have here in this
video if you did enjoy give it a like hit the sub button
as well thanks again for all your support
lately but I'm done thank you for watching
hope you have a great day see you later
