It's Over....

It's officially over for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The quest for the three-peat is cut short
in pretty embarrassing fashion
as they blow the lead to the Milwaukee Brewers.
They get swept by the Brewers in the NLCS,
a team they swept just a year ago,
and now regroup, redraw, and wait for when baseball will return
because we don't know when exactly that will occur.
We're going to look at some positives.
We're going to look at the game.
We're going to look at some negatives,
but overall, very tough night
and really unfortunate the way the season ended,
But come back next year, come back with more fire.
I mean, you got back-to-back championships,
something that was done only eight times, and it'll be history.
And now you have a chance to start a new set,
I guess, in a lot of ways.
But they have the lead.
I mean, that's what the overarching theme of this game was.
You go up 4-0.
Shohei has the homer.
You have really the most emotion I think
I've ever seen out of Shohei Otani
and maybe the most emotion he's ever shown
in literally any form or fashion.
you all score all your four runs
in the second inning you feel confident Glassnow can only go
four and a third ultimately
then you give up two runs in the fourth you have two runs in the fifth
Tanner Scott needs to be sent somewhere else
and then David Hamilton of all people hits a homer
in the ninth to really just drive the nail in the coffin
but this is a tough game um Shohei
you know i'm glad Dave Roberts batted
him first i guess all said and done but
man did he make some stupid decisions
why was Miguel Rojas
literally burned
within two innings we pinch hit
it's really
stupid the way this game was managed
the way the series was managed but
you know a big moment for Shohei Ohtani
and it was a cool moment but
ultimately it's not going to be ever remembered at this point
we can still be in a cool
kind of mindset of that homer but
ultimately the superstars in this
game and in this series
just came up short like
We know what was hot, what was cold.
Mookie, for as bad as a season it looked like he was going to have,
he ended up turning it around,
and you would have thought that you could
have seen more out of him in the postseason.
Credit to Kyle Tucker.
He was the most consistent bat for the Dodgers all postseason.
Pujols today had a really good game,
and the Dodgers finished, what,
2 for 28 with runners in scoring position in the postseason,
and like 2 for 20-something in this series.
Like, it's pretty, pretty bad when you think about it.
But in terms of some reactions we got after the game,
I always trust Shohei, says Dave Roberts.
I think he's the best player on the planet and he's not completely
healthy, but I just give him a lot of respect for not running from it.
It's great and all. And, you know, it's it's it's hard to to see
your season end and we can see all the reactions from the players.
Mookie Betts saying, you know,
I don't know that it's super imperative for us to run up pitch counts.
The back end of their bullpen is really better scoring runs
when you can is what we need.
And that's what they did.
And then they scored four runs immediately.
Dustin May blew it there in the second inning.
You got Shane Drohan out of the game, and you got to their bullpen.
But your pitching staff couldn't do what was necessary there,
and I think that's a big thing there.
So you had to win the day to worry about tomorrow.
It doesn't happen, and you've got to
figure out where to move on from here.
And where do you move on from here?
Because I think there's a lot of questions,
and specifically about Dave Roberts.
I mean, this is a series that he mismanaged
in a multitude of different ways.
We can talk about yesterday,
we can talk about the decisions he made and all of that,
but today was not much better.
You started Miguel Rojas over Max Muncy just to then burn him in,
what, the second inning?
Third inning, whatever it ended up being,
when they pulled Miguel Rojas,
and of course Muncy came on, and then you wasted a bench spot.
You couldn't have Miguel Rojas against Ashby in the ninth.
You had to put Tommy Edman out there,
which, like, I don't want to bash Tommy Edman,
but, dude, it's been terrible.
And the pitching was horrible.
Evan Phillips couldn't do anything.
Alex Vesia got one out,
walked in the go-ahead at the time tying run.
And Tanner Scott should not be wearing a Dodgers uniform next year.
Simple as that.
Credit to Edwin Diaz.
He had 37 pitches.
He had to pitch three innings in relief.
got two strikeouts ultimately to give up the homer
when it was all said and done but you didn't use
him this entire series until now you should have used him earlier
and again it all goes back to
Dave Roberts and kind of the the problems that he possesses
and i think there's going to be a lot of
questions moving forward about Dave Roberts
and i'm not saying they're going to fire him but
certainly does begin to put on the minds
of everybody like how important an amazing manager
is and i don't want to say the Dodgers have
that unfortunately simple as that Dave Roberts talking
about where he kind of felt with everything talked
about Blake Snell yesterday saying he felt good
where his step was at um i don't think
that one player cost the Dodgers this series, I don't think
that one manager cost the Dodgers this series, it was a team effort
when you get swept everybody
is accountable and what's, what's horrible about
this is that I don't think there's anything the
Dodgers could have done to change the outcome
in some ways yes, you got up for nothing and you
gotta face the accountability factor from the pitching
staff to hold that lead, but you
also should look at the offense and say, well, why didn't you
just score more? You couldn't score against the
bullpen this entire series. At the end of
the day, I think the Brewers were just the better team.
It's simple as that. I don't think there's much that we can
sit here and discuss with what
went on. I think that the Brewers were the
better team, and you were
outclassed, outmatched,
outpunched, and it's
horrible. So, Dave Roberts
did stand on his decision-making, both from
last night and tonight said no apologies
no sorries, sure I'm not gonna sit here and say that
that's uh um I, I if you're gonna stand
on business I respect it, at least you know at least make your
decisions there um and I talked about yesterday
and the Dodgers needing a lot of a lot of innings
from their starters I don't think
a single pitcher went past six innings, I mean I guess
Blake Snell did it yesterday but we saw how that went
and uh it's gonna be an interesting
offseason for sure, a lot of major questions
for 2027 you've got some guys in your core that
are aging um we know that Ohtani is going
to be going in his age 33 season
Mookie's going to be going into what he's 34
so his age 35 season Freddie's going to be going on
his age 38 38 season into his you know age 38 season
and uh it's going to be a lot of moving
pieces that you're gonna have to um here's what
Dave Roberts said at the end of it saying it
It never feels good to lose
and not accomplish a goal to win the World Series.
I love this team and what we had to go through.
Injuries continued to pile up.
It was a three-year process of injuries being a problem
But overall, I think that we can truthfully look at what must change
But ultimately, I think at this point, the offense is usually better
They got cold at the wrong time
The bullpen decisions have to be better,
but also that means that you can't use Tanner Scott anymore.
I think he has to go.
Healthier is always going to be a priority.
But I think there's accountability across this team
I don't want to say there's one person to blame,
but I'm actually going to ask you
that and let me know who is the most to blame.
Do you think it's Dave Roberts?
Do you think it's the Dodgers and not,
you know, Mookie, Freddie, Shohei,
whatever it might be, not being the superstar hitters?
Or do you think it's the front office?
Like, do you think that Friedman has
something to do with what the Dodgers
ended up doing in this series?
Want to know what you think down in the comment section
and let us know what you think about this series, what is to come.
We're not stopping the coverage.
There's going to be a lot of things changing this offseason
and we'll see what happens throughout this,
but it was a big weakness for the Dodgers
And hitting, there's been a lot of problems throughout the year
Situationally, they could not do it.
And guess what?
Showed in this series.
Really, really, really showed in this series
We appreciate everybody watching.
