Right now, an e bike rider has a group of Delco do gooders to thank for saving
her life. Look at this video here. A dramatic rescue as bystanders help lift
a Volkswagen off of the woman after she crashed her e bike into the vehicle and
Prospect Park and Chris, an amazing rescue by those good samaritans. And
you got to talk with them.
Yeah, they're being hailed as heroes tonight. The video we're about to show
you could be disturbing shows not only the potential dangers of e bikes, but
the amazing recovery of some good samaritans. A 44 year old Ridley Park
woman seen on video cruising down a busy route for 20 in Prospect Park
Monday morning at an estimated 20 plus miles an hour without a helmet. Just as
she crossed this intersection, she collides with the classic Volkswagen
Beetle. We're not showing you the moment of impact. She was driving way
too fast for that, um, for that time of day for the road she was traveling on.
And as I said, she was attempting to overtake vehicles to get to an
appointment. But what happened next just may have saved her life. Moments
captured on police body cam.
All right, leave her down. Prospect Park officers and a half a dozen
bystanders wasted no time to help longtime FedEx driver Carl Wise
celebrating his birthday was one of the first to jump in. Got a yell to help
ran over. We lifted the Volkswagen Beetle up and pulled the girl out and
just pushed her to the ground so she wouldn't move. That's all. Police
called you a hero. No, I'm no hero. I'm just a guy doing a job. That's all.
Chrissy Vollmer runs a local sign shop just feet away from the crash. That's
her in the video, joining complete strangers helping lift the £1800 car
high enough to pull the injured woman out. She was rushed to the hospital
with several broken bones but is still alive. All I saw were the lady's legs
underneath the car and she was just yelling. Get this car off of me. Police
Chief Dave Madonna visiting and thanking some of those good Samaritans
calling them all heroes. It happened pretty fast. Uh, we turned around. We
just seen on the ground under the car. Business owners say this isn't the
first e bike crash they've seen on this road. Police say more legislation is
needed to help regulate the explosion in the number of e bikes. I see it all
day long. I see the bikes all day long. It wasn't the first time I've seen
someone get hit by a car on a bike here. How many more tragedies do we have to
see before some type of action is taken?
Now that e bike rider remains in Lankan all hospital recovering from surgery
today that Volkswagen driver won't be facing any charges. But that e bike
rider Jason could be facing traffic citations, right? But she's alive. And
just when you think you've lost faith in humanity, you see a dozen people
helping to lift this, this thing up to all teaming up together to save this
woman's life. It's actually beautiful to see not taking video, but actually
helping. Yeah, it's really great. All right, Chris, thank you very much.
