Overnight, a woman has died after shooting at an apartment complex in northwest Atlanta.
And goodness, Caitlin Pratt is at the active scene with the latest after speaking with
police just minutes ago, Caitlin.
Good morning to you both.
Yeah.
Who did this?
Why?
Some of the questions police are trying to figure out this morning.
You can see investigators here behind me here on DeForest Ferry Road.
This is in the northwest part of Atlanta and they've been here since two o'clock this morning.
That's when police were initially called after reports of gunfire.
When they arrived, though, no victim.
That's because the victim in this case, said to be 22 years old, was transported to the
hospital by a person, a friend, not medics.
So they were alerted by the hospital about that gunshot victim started to head that way.
That person, though, did not survive.
Her injuries were learned that she was shot in the torso.
This is from homicide investigators.
Here's what they had to say a short time ago.
Right now, what we do know is appears to be an isolated incident inside an apartment.
We're still working on the motive right now.
We're just waiting for our crime scene to get here.
We do have somebody that was that transported our victim to Grady.
He's back at headquarters to meet with detectives and get his side of the story about what happened
today.
And investigators say at this point, the victim in this case does not live at the complex.
There was some emotions running high at Grady Memorial Hospital, her family finding out
about their loss.
Police there, too, trying to question that gentleman who brought her to the hospital
in the first place.
So still a lot to work out this morning.
We're going to update you in the next half hour with more on what homicide investigators
had to say about the situation here in Northwest Atlanta.
That's where we're live on this breaking situation.
I'm Caitlin Pratt.
Back to you.
All right, Caitlin.
Thanks for the latest.
