'Keffe D' found guilty in Tupac Shakur murder trial

A guilty verdict in the killing of rap icon Tupac Shakur, bringing a decades-old cold case to a close. Dwayne Keefe D. Davis convicted a first-degree murder for orchestrating Tupac's death nearly 30 years ago. Good evening. I'm Claudine Wall. And I'm Mike Mibach. After nine days of testimony, the jury reached that verdict in just three hours. We the jury in the above entitled case find the defendant Dwayne Keefe Davis as follows. Count one, murder with use of a deadly weapon, guilty of first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon, dated this 31st date of August 2026. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, is this your verdict as read, so say you want, so say you will? Yes. Either party would desire to have the jury. Prosecutors argued that Davis, now 63 years old, orchestrated that deadly drive-by shooting in Las Vegas as retaliation for Tupac and his crew beating up Keefe's nephew. Prosecutors were never able to tie him to the crime with DNA or fingerprints, but what they did have were his own statements. His memoir, interviews, and conversations, which the defense argued were lies and exaggerations for money and fame. I think it all boiled down to Keefe Davis' own words. Mr. Davis, had he not started talking, had he not started providing information about this, his own words, his own idea to get on documentaries, to write a book, I think the jury believed him based on his own testimony. I think it's that simple. Tupac was at the height of his success when he died at the age of 25. He is revered as one of the most influential rappers of all time, and his death has gripped hip-hop fans for decades. Davis now faces life in prison without parole, and he is going to be sentenced in October.
