Loud Steam Freight Train Overtakes Passenger Train! - Tharandt Incline

As part of the 18th Dresden Steam Locomotive Meeting on April 12, 2026, a parallel run featuring a total of three steam locomotives took place on the Tharandt Ramp (Tharandter Rampe). During the run, the passenger train — hauled by the three-cylinder steam locomotive 58 1111 — and the freight train, powered by steam locomotive 52 8079 with 52 8141 as a manned helper (pusher), engaged in a friendly little race. After the parallel run, both steam trains returned to Dresden separately. The maximum gradient on this steep incline reaches 2.6 %.
