AI GeneratedThe final round of the 2026 Ledgestone Open in Eureka, Illinois, culminated in a dramatic victory for Luke Taylor. Despite a chaotic leaderboard featuring strong performances from Sullivan Tipton and Gannon McMahon, Taylor overcame early putting struggles to secure his first Elite Series title in a tense finish.
Good afternoon and welcome back into the Disc Golf Network. You are in the right spot. You are
watching the final round of the 2026 Ledge Stone Open from Eureka, Illinois just outside of Peoria.
Very par start for Mcbeth looking to go two for three. You should count that. I think he gets
as aggressive as he did the first round. Got out there by that new bridge.
Take a little off. Just play it for position. I think he'll try and throw the exact same shot.
Definitely got the zip on it. Asking for it to sit again and it is identical,
Philo. And right over to Rick. This is how he gets all that money, Philo.
How much money has that fella made? With the putt.
Banging putts just like that. I'm gonna send it down to Brian Earhart. This looks like a
pretty difficult approach. Luke is actually even looking over the lake potentially. I've never seen
it. You know he actually has a good wind for it. It's a head cross to the right. I still think the
inside forehand is safer and very doable. The problem is the wind is starting to shift a little
bit too so he's gonna have to make a really good educated guess here. I've never seen this. Okay,
it's gonna play cross. Unreal. What a play. What a bold decision from Luke and it paid off.
Just gonna unravel right on time. Beautiful touch from Tipton. I believe this is his ace disc from
U.S. a few seasons ago, Philo. A beating raptor. Ace would be huge for Sullivan. Here it comes.
Right on the bull's-eye for Tipton. That was a bit wide out of his hand. He tested those trees
on the other side of the sidewalk. Strong side. Beautiful stick from Luke. Great comeback from
the previous hole. You're gonna run it into the woods. The pin high looks are the best. You don't
really want to be putting down the grade and you don't want to run down the hill too much. It gets
very steep beyond the target. Well, this hole has had Luke's number the last two times he has
played it. Philo, he has bogeyed it. Get on the ground. All right, you can live with that.
Fantastic. You're putting back up toward the chains. Luke, an opportunity to be the lone
birdie on the lead card. Reel those guys in by one more stroke. So smooth. Sullivan, Tipton,
obviously very strong with the sidearm but not equally as talented with the backhand.
This is a big moment for Gannon. He took a double here in the final round last year. Oh,
no. Did you see that? It kind of drifted on him. Spectators running out of the way and it's
not going to get back in time. Rick, he's four under through six. Looking like five through seven.
Oh, Whirl's going to join him. This putt has massive implications. If he misses,
he will lose the outright lead. Philo, he's only missed three from the circle the entire event.
Oh, that's going to be a red flag. That is careless. Philo.
Oh, my goodness. That's a red flag. Gannenberg has thrown OB on his last three shots.
Now, if you're Luke Taylor, what do you do? A par is going to likely give you a share of the lead.
This would be a massive birdie for Luke Taylor if he can pull this off.
He's going. He's going. That's inside, Philo. He's got to get down, but at least he makes
it up there and he's going to be, oh, that might be on the line. It's on the line.
They're calling it green. That's inside circle one for Luke. What a, that's the courage,
man, it takes to throw these shots. This is for a share of the lead. It absolutely is.
This is not a fun wind direction. If you're pure spin putter, he's got a right to left.
He's got to get it flat. Just enough. Dribbles it off the front of the cage into the chains.
We have got a two-way tie atop the leaderboard. One tree to miss. There it is. That'll creep
right up into the bullseye for Taylor, keeping that mow rolling. Going to be a five for seven
start. 275 feet still requires your full focus. That'll dribble into circle one. Call that seven
steps off for Sullivan. That'll get the man back on track. Yes, sir. Luke Taylor with the box.
It's got to flip. Oh, fight through. That might be good. It is. Green flag somehow.
Oh no, it's a red flag, Philo. He changed his mind. Hope's up there. That's heartbreaking.
Tipton doing some shot shaping. Next level stuff. Well, Rick just picked up two on Paul with the par
and he's going to tap one in for birdie on 11. Your solo leader, Sullivan Tipton, the bridge hole.
Going flex raptor. The man is a genius, Philo. He is cooking. The friendliest of reactions off
the water tower there for McBeth. Those can push towards the target. Take a peek at Joel Freeman
trying to dial up a gem and he sticks it at the base of the target. Two over on holes eight through
11, Philo. Yeah, too much Neapolitan ice cream on that scorecard there for McBeth.
Got to keep it clean on championship Sunday. If you want to make a run,
Sullivan shaping up another sidearm. Look at this guy. He is still on fire.
And I'm going to try and match, but that DD three is getting worked just enough.
Just wow. And it's going to filter into the circle, Philo.
There he is. Taylor gets the stepper to go.
Isaac Robinson, 12 under through 17. And up and down here would get him one off the course record.
Isaac Robinson making some cash on a Sunday. And this for a 13 under par.
Up 19 spots on the day. And Philo, that is unofficially rated 1107. No way. Yes,
indeed. One of his highest rated rounds all time. Sullivan, another steep hyzer over the lake into
the headwind. He's got eyes on the target. That certainly helps. This is looking good.
Yes, sir. Sullivan tipped in. He is in control of his own fate, Philo. At the moment, he certainly
is. 505 to the pen. I'm going to give you an extra 30 feet on that. He's just in front of
the marker that they have at the 510. This is massive. That's the circle. Unbelievable
recoveries. How many times can Luke Taylor do it? Adam Hammes is going to send one over the lake.
Trust that fade just inside the tree. That's the way you draw it up right there. Sit down,
bounce off the pole and stop. Why don't you? Excellent shot from Hammes. Taylor,
does it get by? It does. That has plenty of height. This should be right up in there. Yes,
sir. Pin high. Six meters off for Luke. It's a hurricane for Sully. It's online. It's getting
back on hyzer. Philo, it's a bullseye. That was huge for Sullivan. A little bit of a tailwind
off his left shoulder. I feel there's more of a risk of going deep with the forehand. Luke
Taylor is going to go against the wind with his backhand. The moment of his tournament. Stay up.
All right. That's a green flag, Philo. Huge moment for Luke. This is it. He hasn't missed
with it yet. Shot of his tournament in the air. Will it sit? Philo, that looks deep.
And it is. It's going to run out the back. Sullivan can't believe it.
Straight to the drop zone. Can the Iceman stick it close and change the whole
feel of this tournament with one swing? Here comes Perkins.
Dannenberg is going to move within one of Sullivan. Luke Taylor will have a putt to tie
Sullivan. And it's tracking. Oh, just in front. Philo, this is not the drop zone I was imagining.
This is absolutely a green light for Sullivan. Oh, it's going to lift. No. Oh, my goodness.
Sullivan tipped in. Heartbreaking for Sullivan. I can't believe it. After all of that work this
afternoon, completely buzzes the tower. Splashdown. Luke Taylor for the outright lead.
Right into the headwind. Philo, he delivers. Man, that is about an inch over that lip.
Just enough to get in. This is electric. Opportunity here with a birdie for Luke
Taylor to get his first win of his career on the elite major level.
And it's early left. Sneaks through. That's in danger of going out of bounds.
That's got to hold on. If that stays safe, that's a miracle.
That's got to turn. Keep turning. That's also trouble, Philo. Get through.
Unbelievable. Oh, my goodness. Did we see that right? Did that go through the gazebo, bud?
Well, having world-class speed certainly doesn't hurt when you're trying to get your three-peat on.
Look at this, everybody. Through the gazebo pays dub. Sullivan, he's going to have to collect
himself because this forehand off the tee on 18, this is another just elite shape. All of a sudden,
Sullivan Tipton with a birdie could find himself in a three-way playoff. I think that's going to
be just far enough. Oh, it's a helpful roll. And stop moving. It's got to sit down. No, I think
it's a helpful roll, Philo. First, it'll be Sullivan picking up that same raptor. It's wide.
Philo, no. The heartbreak continues for Tipton. He is O.B. It's over.
Can't believe it, Nate. This is going to be a tough pill to swallow for Sullivan.
This is it. The shot of Luke Taylor's career. Stay clean. Don't roll. It's going to be a
helping roll. Philo, it's going to be a pace outside the bullseye. He'll have that for his
first Elite Series win. He needs to try and throw it in. He does. Like Ricky tried in 2019.
That's got the pace that he's going for it. And it comes up short. Luke Taylor is going to have a
five-meter putt for the title. Luke Taylor. Ledgestone. Your 2026 Ledgestone Open Champion
and first-time Elite Series winner, Luke Taylor. Luke Taylor, your champion at Ledgestone. Luke,
too many moments today to even count. Too many to even point out. I want to just send it to you.
What stands out today? How are you feeling in this moment right now?
I mean, I think it's just about sums up how everybody else sums up their first win. Like,
you don't really know what to think when it hits you. I can't believe the last putt even went in.
I was like, I mean, I felt like it had to, but I didn't know how it was going to go in or how
it was going to play out. I mean, I think it was everything that I could ask for in a final round.
It felt like on the outside watching you guys play that it was Gannon and Sully
for so much of the round. I don't know if people keyed in on how you were playing out there.
Did you always, from the start, feel like you were in the race to win this tournament?
I never felt like I was out of the race. I think it was pretty obvious for a while that my putting
stroke was not there. I was crumbling under the pressure. Some might say from right around
adversity was faced. I made a little adjustment to my stance, something that I don't think anybody
can really see. It made all the difference on those last six holes. Going into the last six
holes, I was like, I can win this tournament. I think I have to birdie all six of them to do it
though. And talk about the chaos on 17, 18. What were you feeling? You looked calm. Were you?
I mean, I think I did a really good job hiding the inner turmoil that was going on.
Put the drive and bounce on 17 and then I just have to throw my hands up. From there, it's not
in my power. And obviously, seeing a friend and competitor like Sully have that happen to him,
the crazy wind lift on both the tee shot and the putt, that's out of your control. And everything
in this game is kind of a little bit out of your control. You can just do your best and let the
rest be handled. But I just did the very best I could and ended up going my way today. I don't
know how to describe it. Let's hear it for your champion, Luke Taylor.
