In this international law case, the court confirmed that Torture is a crime of universal jurisdiction, and a crime against humanity, and any nation can call on any other nation to either prosecute or extradite a person accused of such crimes. In this case the criminal, Hissen Habre, was ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment.
