This sets them up PERFECTLY...
Jul 25, 2026
This sets the Columbus Blue Jackets up perfectly as they locked down two of their young players
to extensions. In this video we're going to break down both of these extensions,
talk about the players and how they're playing right now, if this contract was worth the money
they got, and also talk about the one big one that's left in Adam Fantili's. You're not going
to miss this episode of NHL Digest, but before we dive into all that just want to give a huge
shout out to today's sponsor PrizePix. PrizePix is America's number one sports picks app and it's

the channel. But we got to talk a lot about Columbus Blue Jackets as earlier this week
we've seen the offer that they gave Jack Greaves and we talked about how disrespectful this was
to this player and ultimately they avoid arbitration with both of their RFAs here now in
Sillinger and Jack Greaves and let's just talk about it because today the Columbus Blue Jackets
announced that they would be extending and avoiding arbitration with Cole Sillinger from
Elliott Friedman here on Twitter he says he gets a settlement of three years by 4.625 million and
I think that's a great contract for this middle six player for this team obviously a great playmaker
a guy who plays with a lot of hurt as well anybody who's watching Blue Jackets games know this and
I think at in this market and with how big the contracts are locking up this young player still
only 23 years old to this long of a deal is definitely great and just looking at what AP
analytics broke down this contract to I just want to take a look here full screen so you guys can
see it all they projected his contract to be a 5.1 but the he comes in a little bit cheaper here at
and when you look here his passing is in the 74 percentile a shot power in the 78 percentile
speed in the 72nd percentile puck management in the 83rd percentile which I think is fantastic
and his zone denials at 88 showing how good he is uh defensively uh getting those uh picking off
those passes and things of that nature and then his ozone impact uh being at six in the 61st
percentile which is great as well some comparable contracts here and the mobilier and capo caco
a very very good uh comparables there when talking about cole cylinder and I just do want to dive
into uh some of his career stats here and this season ended the season with 33 points uh eight
goals 25 assists has hit the 20 assist mark and back-to-back seasons has just been proven to be
this uh you know across the this team and across uh the metro division a guy who's been setting up
a lot of goals creating a lot of uh offensive chances and just being a great middle six player
here and I really do like this contract for cole cylinder I guess at 33 points he had 136 shots
um I think this is a great contract an affordable contract for this team going forward they have
this guy locked up now until he's 26 years old he kind of gets to prove himself a little bit more
and continue to develop and continue to become the player that he wants to be in this league
and with his assist totals going up season after season hopefully we'll see those gold numbers
numbers start to creep up as well and hopefully with this uh weight of this contract off his
shoulders he can now play more freely and become another great asset for this team offensively
in that middle six but there was another player that I did allude to that was signed yesterday
and that was Jack Reeves he did settle on three years five million dollars which I think is a
perfect contract for him the 2.8 number that they first mentioned going into arbitration was
downright disrespectful number for this young goaltender with the numbers he's been putting up
uh and three years at five million dollars is great uh for both the team and the player here
it's affordable for the team and Jack Reeves gets what he deserves and now at his young age can now
prove on his next contract in three years time that he is worth a lot more money than this and
I do really think we're going to see Jack Reeves break out into a star goaltender in this league
while he's on this contract again AP analytics did do a little breakdown on what he was projected
going into this he was projected to get six million by their numbers here on a four-year deal
but he takes a three-year deal on a little less AAV with five million comparing his contracts to
UC Saros, Thatcher Demko, Jake Allen, UPL all around the same uh numbers for these guys and
it makes sense right he's he's around that uh number at that age that some of these guys were
and you see here that high danger state percentage in the 92nd percentile just showing how dominant
of a player he is and looking at his career stats uh here we talked about this the other day but just
a fantastic goaltender hasn't been under nine a 900 save percentage yet in his career and last
season having the most starts with 55 games having uh 53 starts with 26 wins 19 losses and having a
908 save percentage and two shutouts and a 2.60 GAA and if you guys watched that video the other
day you know how high I am on Jack Reeves I think he's going to be a great goaltender in this league
and I really like I said think he is going to break out on this contract and in a couple years
time we're going to say hey five million dollars for this goalie is absolutely ridiculous and I
really do think he will get a huge payday on his next contract I do believe this guy will be the
and uh as Columbus continues to develop and continues to grow and continues to get better
as a team he's only going to continue to grow and get better as a goaltender and I'm very excited
for the future of Jack Reeves here in Columbus uh but that all alludes us to what is Adam Fantilli
gonna get because he hasn't been signed yet um the you know their former I believe was third
pick in the draft has been playing good hockey for this team across his first couple years in
the league 59 points last year with 24 goals 35 assists almost 50 percent on that face-off dot
as well but I do just want to look at what his stats were across his entire three years in the
league that first year he played 49 games at 27 points he had 54 points back in 24-25 and he had
59 points this season and 13 power play points playing a lot getting a lot more of time on that
power play unit and as you see his time on ice the game has been getting better higher and higher
every season which is allowing him to score more and more points every season and obviously this
guy's going to be the top line center for this Columbus Blue Jackets team going forward for
a very long time and uh Blue Jackets fans are really hoping that they can lock this guy up
and looking at what's uh one Columbus Blue Jackets writer had had to say on twitter he says
this is what the numbers are looking like after the Bedard deal a three-year deal looks like 12
million dollars a year a five-year deal looks like 13 million dollars a year and a big a max deal
at eight years or you're looking at getting him for 15 million dollars a year and I really do
think that's a fair price and right now they do have the room to uh work this I think what they
right now they have a current cap space of 14 million dollars so that means they have enough
to offer him that eight eight-year deal at 15 million dollars a year if they do want to say
maybe put him on a bridge deal maybe a two-year deal that could be a 10 million dollar a year
number so that he can you know get paid for two years then take a longer deal at that
at the end of that extension but I do think they're going to be aiming to lock him up for
eight years at 15 million dollars and I think in this market for Adam Fantilli a young player in
this league I do think that he is worth this money just seeing how everything is right now
obviously you know Conor Bedard has a little bit more on him I do think at this point a lot more
hype around him for sure and I think it's a lot it's not a lot but he is a more skilled player
I did like Adam Fantilli coming out of you know the junior level but you know he hasn't really
panned out yet and he has been getting better every year and I think that's a good sign for
Blue Jackets fans and I do think when he has this contract now signed he will obviously have that
weight off his shoulders and play better hockey he's just going to continue to grow and we see
that year-to-year improvement from him so I wouldn't be uh I wouldn't be uh you know taken
aback by his play or by you know how little of points he's getting because he has been playing
like a great all-around center uh for a little while now in this league and hopefully you guys
can get him locked up for 8 by 15 that does seem like a big number but as the years go on that
contract will look better and better with the cap rising every single year so I think it's looking
good for Fantilli to get a deal done here and going into the season where the metro division
is completely wide open um besides you know the capitals and the in the hurricanes any one of
these teams can really go on a run and make the playoffs this year and hey why not it be the Blue
Jackets the Blue Jackets do have a solid offense going into the season Marchenko had a really
break big breakout year last year going into the last year of his deal he's looking for an extension
as well so now with when this Adam Fantilli contract does get signed and that number is
out there we will be able to uh see if we are going to be able to afford Marchenko or not I do
think that we will try to keep him around he hasn't came out and said he doesn't want to stay
obviously Marchenko, Fantilli, Garland I really do like that line I think Marchenko is a great
player and will continue to be a great player going into this season uh Zillinger, Coyle,
and Nachushkin round out that second line maybe you could see Monahan bump up and up on that
second line at points during this season I think the acquisition of Nachushkin is amazing for this
team I really liked him in Colorado he's been a great goal scorer over there and I think that
will translate over to Columbus as well and you have a great like young fourth line here with the
Delbel Blues which I think is maybe one of the best names in hockey today rounding out that
fourth line center position and then the defense yeah that's where it gets a little bit weaker
obviously you have one of the best defensemen in the league in Zach Wierenski you don't know
what his future is going to be either is he going to resign uh next season or not uh that and when
we get that Fantilli number we'll be able to calculate that as well uh but you have Dante
Fabro and Provaroff I really do like Provaroff I think he's a great defenseman maybe underrated
in this league I do like him but after that it kind of does uh uh it's just die off in terms
of defensemen I do think I think something that uh if the Columbus Blue Jackets are in the race
for the playoffs this year at the trade deadline they will be trying to bolster up on that blue
line and I would love to see that because I think that's just the one thing that this team is
missing uh that you know would really push them over the edge to be more competitive in this
division and and maybe there will be more certainty to who is going to make the playoffs if they did
round out uh even this third even this like you know bottom six and this uh you know end of this
defensive pairings uh and you know I think they're not that far away from being a playoff team in my
opinion and as their young guys continue to grow it's only going to become more known around the
league about how this good this team is and obviously uh you know they're probably looking
to move out Merce Lincolns at the deadline if I had to say so he's on the last year of his deal
they can get a defenseman back from I definitely think they will sell him off so that'll be
interesting as well but I think you guys Jack Blue Jackets fans have uh have some things here
to be excited about for sure and I think once this fancily contract is done and we know that
he's going to be locked up long term uh you guys can kind of you know take a little bit of a stress
away from what's going to happen in the future and start to make some educated guesses on what's
going to happen with Wierenski and Marchenko and if this team team takes a big step this year
I don't see a world where Wierenski doesn't resign here so uh it's exciting time to be Blue Jackets
fans I think while we talk about today sets them up perfectly uh no doubt about it to uh be a
playoff team in the years to come and as the team continues to grow the team will get better and
their place understandings will just continue to rise and once again a huge shout out to today's
