The NHL is TERRIFIED of the Oilers...
Oct 14, 2026
The NHL is terrified of the Edmonton Oilers
as they've been having an historic start
to this season as they are still undefeated in regulation.
In this video, we're going to break down everything
that's been going good, some surprise players
that have been popping out of nowhere this year, and so much more.
You're not going to miss this episode of NHL Digest.
Before we dive into everything here,
I just want to say we're on the road for 20,000 subscribers
around the channel, so if you're new here,
you want to stay up to date on the latest
news around the NHL where you're home for it here
on YouTube scroll below hit that subscribe
button it's completely free to do so but yes today we
are here talking about the Edmonton
Oilers as they've been on an absolute rampage here
to start this season some big performances
from McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard we
also got Pog Colson coming out of nowhere having a great
start to this year and we're going to dive
into that all in this video so let's dive into it in
the first person to start with is McDavid
as he's just been having an unbelievable start to
this year I mean we all couldn't have expected it
to go better for this team getting you know
a new coach in in Mike Babcock
and they are playing a lot better under him that was a kind
of a you know a shock decision a lot of us weren't really expecting it
but it has worked out great
for the Edmonton Oilers here early on and they're looking like
a team that can go for it and win it
this year so hopefully we can see that happen
but let's like I said let's dive in to the McDavid of
it all because Connor McDavid
and Leon Draisaitl dominate right they have been so good this season
and just taking a look at McDavid's points across
these first six games for this team
two points the first night five points the second night
then he goes two three one four like he's
been putting up insane numbers in the start of this season
and he's just doing Connor McDavid
things he looks like he's a man on a mission
this season to go win the Stanley Cup and he's already got
17 points through six games I mean he's almost
he's well he's over two points per game pace
right now this is crazy like Connor McDavid
is just playing like a man possessed this year
he knows that he wants to get back there
and this might be his last year or his last chance to win
a cup in Edmonton and he's going out
and putting everything on the line for this team to win and
He's just playing unbelievable.
Four goals, 13 assists, 50% on the draw.
He's just playing unbelievable hockey right now.
He's doing Connor McDavid things, that's for sure.
And Connor McDavid says it's been fun.
Obviously, when the team's out there, they're having fun.
They're winning games.
The play is only going to be better on the ice.
We're seeing that right now with McDavid
and just how well he has been playing.
And, of course, there is two elite threats on this top line,
talking about Leon Draisaitl as he's the best player in the world,
is what Connor McDavid said, or one of the best players in the world.
So when you've got two of, in my opinion,
the best players in the world on the same line,
it's going to lead to success, and we're seeing it early here.
Draisaitl, we're going to talk about in just a second,
but McDavid is really silencing the haters this year
and really showing everybody that he is the best player in the world,
and he's going to go out and win a cup here in Edmonton.
So it's going to be fun to watch him keep going as well.
Obviously, McDavid and the boys were great,
is what Babcock is giving the guys some praise here,
just saying, hey, you know, McDavid's playing great hockey,
and, you know, we're obviously carrying that momentum forward,
keeping on winning games, and we've only lost one game,
and that was in overtime.
It wasn't in regulation, and the Oilers are playing great right now,
and hopefully they can keep this up
because they are getting some great goaltending as well,
which we're going to talk about a little later.
Looking at McDavid's scouting report here,
his strengths are his assists a game.
He's over two assists per game here
for the first six games of the season,
and over 2.83 points.
He's at 2.83 points a game,
almost at three points a game here
through six games, which is ridiculous.
His giveaways are about one a game,
but when you're logging a lot of ice like McDavid
and carrying the puck a lot,
yeah, you're going to give away the puck sometimes,
but I don't think that sticks out to me.
I think McDavid is just a player
who kind of transcends the game.
He is just so good.
Watching this guy, you're like,
oh my God, I get to watch this guy.
I get to tell people in 20 years time that,
you know, I got to watch McDavid, right?
That's the type of player this guy is, he's so good.
He's so fast, has great hands, is a great shot, has great vision.
Like he's probably one of the best players to ever touch a hockey puck.
So I just, I'm just grateful that we get to watch it
and grateful that he continues it
again this season after putting up 17 points here early.
Draisaitl as well, having a good start.
He's at about .67 goals a game right now
and is over one assist a game as well as weakness being giveaways.
Like I said, when you're logging a lot of minutes,
these guys are going to give up a lot of giveaways.
Draisaitl here to start the first six games.
Has him playing well as well, 11 points through six games,
four goals, seven assists for Draisaitl.
He's been phenomenal, right?
His shot percentage is at 16.7% here
to start the year, which is amazing.
Obviously, him and McDavid have been having a great connection here
with the guy we're going to talk about in just a second, in puck goals,
and this top line has been so good.
These guys are just absolutely beating up on teams.
There's no team in the NHL that can stop this top line,
and I'm certain of it.
This team is so good.
They've got two of the best players in the world on the line.
It's ridiculous, right?
It's crazy that we're talking about two
of the best players in the world
playing on the same team and now playing on the same line,
and we're seeing the repercussions of that
is that they're beating every NHL team handily,
and you know they're just the league is terrified
of them that's the whole premise of this video is
that nobody wants to play this team because they have
so many great talents in this roster this
year and obviously a guy
who maybe it was thrown under the bus a lot over this offseason I would
say is Evan Bouchard he adds another threat here he has 14 points
through six games six goals as a
defenseman I might add with eight assists he's
been unbelievable averaging about 22.5 minutes a
night I mean he's playing great he's got three takeaways
on the year he's got three power play
points like this guy is playing unbelievable hockey
from the blue line and for everybody
who said Evan Bouchard is not worth
the extension he got I hope you I hope you uh you know you you
didn't have anything else to say on that because he
is worth this and then some because he's been
so good here this year and everybody that doubted him
and doubted that deal it's really getting it
backfiring on them right now with Bouchard
the way he's playing it's been unbelievable he's had
like a historic start to this season uh we're gonna get
that in the second But Drysdale
just as he makes the right plays nearly every time
that's one thing with Bouchard he's a great
passer he has a great shot from that blue line
and like I said a lot of people doubted this guy
and he's really backing himself right now
and he's really proven that he is a great defenseman
in this league and obviously now Drysdale against
his poise at the puck is just second to none he just
is so confident and that's why he's
so good like he it just exudes through him and exudes through
his play on the ice and it's
so great to see Bouchard kind of play with that confidence as
well and it was a historic start
for Bouchard where he had 10 plus points and a plus 10 to the
first four games he's the first NHL defenseman
to do this so that that's a great start for him
setting records here early on in this season
and just looking like here here is his scouting report
he's over a goal a game over assist a game
his giveaways like i said anybody who logs minutes
is going to get high giveaways just the way it's going
to be so i wouldn't read into too much of
that looking at his shot chart here as i bring up
a little bit bigger for you guys uh you see here
three of his goals have come from the point two
from outside uh the slot area and then one from
the inner slot so you see all the shots
are coming here on this left point and he's just
ripping them like he loves it he's already his expected goals
so far would have been 0.8 this
season through six games he's already plus 5.2
on that so he's having a great year right like there's no
doubt about it that Bouchard is one of the guys
who's definitely leading the charge here and
setting up these forwards for their success
and I you know we can't sweep that under the rug and as
well as another guy who's helping out is Vasily Podkolzin
who has just had a great year so far
completing Edmonton's top line with McDavid
and Draisaitl he's got nine points through six games and
seven of them have been goals and obviously
when you're playing with great guys like McDavid and
Draisaitl who are going to set those goals up
to you on a platter you know he's gonna he's gonna
finish them and Podkolzin is really uh you know stepping
into his own this season playing with
some top guys it's really his talent
is really coming out seven goals through six games is over
a goal per game for him so that's great to see
and great to see this guy kind of step up this
year and just trying to looking
at this top line how dominant it has been they have 10 goals for
only one goal against like that is ridiculous how good
this top line has been playing this season
and we'll just have a look here you know is it luck
or is it for real so far he'd be expected
to have about two and a half goals he has uh well at seven now
and now his shot percentage is
at 35% so i don't think this is luck i think
this is real whenever he's playing with a guy i'm gonna
tee it up to him he's gonna put it in the back
then and he's been playing so good great great
to see pod come out here join the top line take these minutes
and you know not you know take
advantage of it or to or take advantage of it
and not take it for granted and really make the best
out of this opportunity of playing two
of the best players in the world which is great to see
and obviously we got to talk about the guy between
the pipes that's Devin Levi uh giving
edmonton another way to win by being such
a great goaltender uh one thing that has been lacking on
him is his high danger uh chance save percentage we'd like
to see that a little bit higher but
other than that he's been great
and just looking at you know his last starts he had a bad one his
first game out where he had seven goals against
and ever since then he's locked in he's had 9.50
9.35 and 9.75 with only four goals against over his last three games
so that's great to see from
Devin Levi when you put all those numbers together you get him
at a .903 save percentage so far on
the year and it's great to see him obviously come
in in this season in a slot where you know
Edmonton doesn't really know what's going
to happen with the goaltending
situation. Obviously, you know, with
Jerry getting him in the trade last year
wasn't really what they worked out to be.
They end up getting Levi and
Levi really comes in this year
and just proves to everybody that he is
an NHL goaltender and can get
wins in this league and he's doing it in a big
way, putting up some insane games
and really keeping the Edmonton Oilers in these games.
So it's great to see him
have that confidence as well. This team
is so confident right now. They think they can beat
anybody and when you have a team like that their team
to look out for and a team to definitely be
terrified for for sure looking at just Edmonton's next couple
of games coming up here they got
back-to-backs against the Mammoth uh one
on Thursday one on Saturday uh we're not back-to-backs
but back-to-back games against them
then they have the Wild, the Hurricanes, the Maple Leafs so
it's a tough task coming up for the Edmonton
Oilers if they can still remain
undefeated in regulation after this i mean we're going
to be talking about them being one of the
greatest teams uh you know maybe we've made one
of the greatest starts we've ever seen but
it's going to be a tough task for the Edm
and Oilers but like i said when you have a guys like
McDavid and Draisaitl on your team
and Evan Bouchard, Levi in the cage and Podkolzin on a
breakout season i'm not going to bet against
this team i think they're looking good and i think that
they're on their way to hopefully knock on wood
if you can hear it another another Stanley Cup
and McDavid's first Stanley Cup
so hopefully we can see that for you guys this year how are you
feeling about uh the start to the season
for the Edmonton Oilers let me know down below in the
comments if you're down there uh leave
a like subscribe to the channel as always i've been
