This is AWESOME ...
Jul 23, 2026
Right.
The national media finally given the Sixers some love.
Let's talk about what the implications are of having some high grades this
season, the latest articles that have come out, splash a little bit
into the power rankings, just.
Basically I'm spinning my wheels until LeBron signs or doesn't sign.
And then we can fill out that last roster spot.
But until then, like I said, there's plenty to talk about what's going on.
Everybody, Christian Pedersen back with another episode of Sixers
digest the show that is excited.
Like I said, on this episode to discuss off season grades, these
coming courtesy of CBS sports, you want to follow along, like subscribe,
comment, share all those other buttons.
Like I said, we're waiting on the bronze still.
It was as of us recording right now, it was like yesterday.
Everyone was like, he's going to decide today.
And now rich Paul's coming out.
Like he's not going to sign anytime soon.
And my small little vent, I guess, is I'm kind of low key over it.
And I don't really want somebody mobbing in here following a dramatic off season.
So at this point, go on, do your thing, LeBron.
We're going to be here doing our thing.
Like I said, power rankings had already come out about a week ago that reflected
an upward trend for the 76ers.
Some of them being in the, not even the teens, just on the OLI of top 10.
This one is bleacher report.
As I'm trying to pull up the other one here, apologies.
We have updated our system here.
So there are still some buttons that I am having to relearn how to press.
Uh, the, with the 76ers came in at sixth in the New York posts one.
So I headed in the right direction, no doubt, but let's get then.
Like I said to the grades that CBS sports, which I will always say insiders,
just because somebody is employed by a legacy media outlet, I don't ever want
to fully vouch for that person having like beyond immeasurable credentials.
But when I see them given the 76ers and a for the off season, I'm all in on
endorsing you going to check out their content and read them, but yeah.
What grade do you give them?
Um, I think it is very easy to be a biased, hyped up Sixers show and talk
about, oh my gosh, of course they get in a, what a masterclass of an off season.
And yeah, talking about LeBaron Filen being, um, that he had been somebody
who had been in the lottery range.
Wade, Anthony Simons, Paul George, Jalen Brown trade.
It's almost hard to like out of all of that to me, pick what is the
headliner in any of those moves?
Just because as much as the Jalen Brown one was a move that on two
folds added talent and got us out of contract purgatory currently, I don't
want to guarantee that that fixes all of our contract issues, but the Paul
George exit was huge, but at the same time, I, I like them talking about
filing top there, I think that the filing draft pick might not be an A for
like the immediate initial impact this season, but it does seem to me like
there is a long-term growth curve that he fits incredibly nicely into the
overall game plan for what the Sixers are capable of.
The article continues, um, with, uh, they are hardly a flawless team.
And I think that that's fine.
And that, uh, you know, you gotta take the good with the bad, or you gotta
take the dose of reality where you talk about maybe filing fell for a reason.
Wade has injury can turn.
Injury concerns.
I don't agree with him being a zero on offense, being an issue.
Uh, if Dean Wade, honestly, if Dean Wade only shoots the ball one and a half, two
times a game and makes none or one of those buckets, I don't know if that even
really matters all that much to our offensive output this season.
Um, you know, uh, Simon's being a defensive issue that fits into the larger
scheme of what is the issue for our team, which is all, all, all gas, no breaks
right now, not addressing the backup center issue with Huck Porty being the
number three and then the overall big man situation, I think again, takes an
unnecessary shot at a damn Bona and it's going to be, I'll say feed to the
fire, like it's going to be a big initial start to the season for Bona to need to
step up or else the center position.
And granted this could be fixed with, maybe they go out and sign somebody to
fill that last roster spot after the LeBron domino falls, should he sign
somewhere else, but I'm with them that the.
I I'm not with them that they didn't address it.
But I'm with them that it is an issue worth highlighting and an issue still
worth saying like, Hey, if you're going to find a reason to hold the Sixers back
from getting an a plus this off season is the having faith that a damn Bona can
magically figure it out this season.
And I maybe it's not even him magically figuring it out.
No, he could just be on course for some growth this season, but.
I just sort of, I just, I don't get the overall, I understand the concern on the
level of we don't have someone behind Embiid and I'm I'm maybe I'm unnecessarily
taking shots here saying that like, Oh my gosh, I've made the argument that we're
judging these guys in comparison to Joel Embiid.
But I think that also maybe we just need to judge them in comparison to what the
average group of centers look like on a team.
And okay.
So we are a little bit behind the curve, but like they said, they got, they close
out this article saying they got better, younger and deeper price points that
almost seem unfathomable has gone well enough to draw some reported interest in
LeBron James.
We'll see about that.
I, again, I don't know if I agree with the a plus being contingent upon LeBron.
Happy to hear what you guys have to think about that.
I get the sense that it's pretty split out there in terms of you guys thinking
that he even contributes or fits or whatever it is, or if you even want him.
So, okay.
But yeah, that that's where we're at is the off season.
I mean, we all agree that it has gone well, but there is definite national
narratives that has gone well.
And if you follow out the rest of that article from CBS sports, the Charlotte
Hornets are the only other team in the East that they gave an A to this off
season, everybody else got B's C's and D's.
And that makes me kind of, are we the favorite in the East?
What do you say when this, when this, the, you know, the Raptors thing still
hasn't materialized entirely with Kawhi.
Like that's kind of an unknown.
The Knicks, I hate them, but I got to give them the deference of like, they
are the defending champs and they have a good chunk of that running it back.
Obviously they lost Huck party.
And so like, Oh, it's all going to crumble or whatnot, but just kind of
interesting to see, obviously you have to win the games and you have to get to
the playoffs and then you have to win the games in the playoffs.
And that's very reductionist and stupid to me to say, but like, if we're sitting
here doing our armchair quarterback in right now, preseason, it's hard to not
see a route to the Sixers being a top couple of seeds, at least let's call it
that hard to see the Sixers not having, let's say this it's based off of all
this assessment, it's hard to not see the Sixers having a home court advantage.
In the play.
Let me know what you think.
Drop a comment, like subscribe, share until next time.
We'll talk to you guys soon.
