Contrary to this, the speaker believes the front office successfully added essential depth, spacing, and shooting to the roster, positioning the team as a potential 60-win contender.
The disrespect is getting too loud around the Detroit Pistons and their off-season moves as
a recent report revealed every NBA team's off-season grades for the moves they made
and where the Detroit Pistons are ranked is completely disrespectful to what Langdon has
done to this roster heading into next season, adding more shooting, more spacing, and everything
else this organization needed. We're going to break down everything you need to know
on how the recent moves around the Detroit Pistons truly changed their chances to go out
and win a championship, plus this bizarre article revealing all the grades for every team. We're
going to break down this and so much more in this episode. Before we get into it, I just want to
give a quick reminder, hit that pre-subscribe button. It means the world and we're so close
to a goal of 3,000 subscribers, but let's just dive straight into it today where ESPN dropped
their recent grades on all the organizations and their off-season moves. ESPN believes the
Detroit Pistons have the fourth worst off-season among all NBA teams, giving them a C-minus letter
grade. Now, of course, looking at the Pistons, they didn't go out to make that blockbuster splash
that a lot of fans were calling for. We had the reports coming up from Hunter Patterson even
speaking and saying the asking prices were too high, whether it was Kawhi, Kyrie Irving, Kevin
Durant, Trey Murphy, the Pistons couldn't rationalize jeopardizing their future to make a
win-now move. Now, of course, everyone wanted Traejon Langdon to go out and pick up the second
star to add next to Cade Cunningham, but just because they did not do this does not mean this
organization did not go out and make multiple moves, a front office that genuinely had an
incredible job to go out and add extra depth to the team, more size, more spacing, anything you
can think of, and this ESPN article coming out to reveal all the grades, having the Pistons sitting
at number four. Now, looking at this, am I going to sit here and say the Pistons won the off-season?
No, but I think they did an incredible job, up to an A in my mind, on looking what this team did.
Some of the teams behind them, the Pelicans are an absolute dumpster fire, completely great,
the worst off-season, the Wizards, the Magic, but sitting here, and whoever made this at ESPN,
sitting here with a straight face saying that they had a worse off-season than the Sacramento
damn Kings is absolutely bizarre, and honestly, a head-scratcher, an organization that lit,
Demurda Rosen walked for nothing, added Darius Acuff, the next coming of Trae Young with no
defense next to Zach Levine, this is a dumpster fire of an organization, and even putting the
below a team like this is absolutely absurd, and the fact of even diving through. Now, of course,
other articles, ESPN, Yahoo came out with a B+, the Pistons flipped their person a ton this
off-season, but they did improve, John Collins, Isaiah Joe, headlined their off-season additions,
and a likely re-sign of Jalen Duren puts them down as a successful off-season. Not only did
they go out and add the key guys within this team, of course, with Isaiah Joe, John Collins,
re-signing guys, getting Ibuka Okorre, but they added the necessary things and brought back
multiple guys to this team. Now, looking through, of course, John Collins, an incredible contract,
17 mil a season, Isaiah Joe working the cap to keep Duncan Robinson having the two-headed
monster of an elite shooters, paired next to Kate Cunningham, you brought back Kevin Herter,
you brought in Ibuka Okorre, you, yes, still need to sign Jalen Duren, which we're going to dive
into, but this Pistons roster turned into an incredible team, a 60-win team, a team that a
lot of people underestimated last season, and going in to make this an even deeper team. Now, of
course, Paul Reed stationed as the center on this, as Jalen Duren is not signed, but Kate Cunningham,
Duncan Robinson, Asser Thompson, you replace Tobias Harris, listen, I love Toby as well,
but John Collins, an incredible spacer as well, you have Jalen Duren, when he signs off the bench,
you get to choose Ibuka Okorre or Jenkins, Isaiah Joe, Kevin Herter, Ron Holland, Gary Harris,
and even working to the big men, where you would have Paul Reed there with Torian Prince, an elite
shooter, Javante Green, this is a team that legitimately is almost three deep at every
single position, point guard, shooting guard, SF, PF, and center with Tulu Smith showing signs of
life as well. This is a team that went out and added multiple pieces and even just seeing the
report that the Sacramento Kings, and no hate to any Kings fans that happen to stumble upon this
video, but of course, they're not even close or near to the Detroit Pistons on what they did.
John Collins last year, an elite athlete, someone that added spacing almost at 41%
with the LA Clippers just last season, what we know we're getting with John Collins is an athlete
that's going to block shots because, of course, he can jump out of the gym, and this is a guy
that's going to add that spacing and, of course, be able to finish the lobs that we know Cade
Cunningham loves to throw to some of his guards, or sorry, to his bigs, not his guards, but John
Collins and the lack of respect that he is getting on his shooting. Now, of course, not a huge volume
when it comes to three, but of course, an incredible season from the corners, 40.6, 45.3,
and from above the break in the elite percentile, 37.2, John Collins is going to be such a great
player to pair next to Jalen Duren and to have as another lob threat next to Cade Cunningham.
Now, looking at the defense, above average in every single percentile from 6 feet out, 10 feet
out, and, of course, 15 feet out, but when looking at the efficiencies, I mean above the break three,
mid-range, and the rim, all elite percentile, the defensive numbers are going to go up as well.
You have Jalen Duren that can move his feet, no hate to Brooke Lopez, I've seen the nickname of
the hammer for that guy, doesn't even make sense, but John Collins is going to be cemented into an
incredible defensive team, the best defensive team in the entire NBA, and we're truly going to see
not only his emergence and breakout with this Pistons team, but I think the most underrated
move this team made all offseason was picking up Isaiah Joe and for how cheap they got him.
Now, Isaiah Joe, looking at the counting stats, 11 points, two and a half rebounds, 1.3 assists,
42.3% from three, of course, you know you're getting elite shooting out of Isaiah Joe,
but when looking at the team that he is coming from, of course, you're looking at a team that
has Shea, Jalen Williams, Chet, multiple bodies, Isaiah Joe never truly got to break out in that
system, and I do truly believe playing in a more well-rounded offense, look at the green, that's
money, it's like we're in a bank. This is going to be someone that's going to break out, and I'm
willing to put so much stock into Isaiah Joe being a starter by the end of the season, and that's not
hate to Duncan Robinson, but a pesky defender and someone shooting the lights out. With paid
playmaking, this is going to be a guy that's going to come out and look outstanding in this offense,
and again, when looking at the percentiles, the defensive rating doesn't look the best,
but a guy that's a pesky defender and, of course, going to put his body on the line every single
game. Looking at the zone efficiencies, a smaller guard, of course, at the rim, but looking outside,
the paint, mid, corner three, above the break three, elite percentile in every single one of them.
This is a team that's truly going to do something remarkable, and I mean, I've been talking for
almost eight minutes now about the rotations, and I haven't even got to the moves of Gary Harris.
You have the moves of Torian Prince that shot 41% from three just last season, came back from an
injury, and, of course, balled out for the Milwaukee Bucks to the point when this move happened,
there was Bucs fans commenting on the videos, saying that Prince is going to be an incredible
piece, 43.6%, not even 41%. This is a team that, of course, I think it all rounds out to what
happens with Jalen Dern, and, of course, getting the big man locked up within this team, and having
the All-Star Center for the foreseeable future, a young guy that, of course, had that downfall in
the playoffs, but at the end of the day, looking at the stats from the regular season, 19.5 points,
10.5 rebounds, to assist, 68.8% true shooting, 65% from the field, this is going to be the crucial
part of the offseason if Jalen Dern takes a qualifying offer, or if Jalen Dern looks at
this team and you gouge them for money, yes, you can drop the rankings for fans. I want your
thoughts down in the comments. Where do you rank the Detroit Pistons? Is it a C-? The fourth worst
offseason like we've seen from ESPN, because I think that is just total BS. What is your thoughts
on the ranking? Because I'd give it an A. Looking at the depth of the team in every single position,
it gets me fired up, and, of course, this is a team that can still make future moves. I want your
guys' thoughts on everything down in the comments, because I love reading through each and every one
of them, because, listen, we love the Pistons for a reason. Talking about them is absolutely
incredible, but reading you guys' comments and support is even better. Go Detroit basketball.
I'll see you guys in the next one. Take care, Pistons fans. Goodbye.
