The Hawks make a sneaky good move and today Hawks fans we're talking about two-way contracts,
two-way deals, two-way players, and we're definitely going to talk about our new addition
just a little bit. It's all good guys. We have multiple updates in today's episode of Hawks
Digest. So I hope you know where to leave your shoes because we have a new update we have to
get into. I got you guys covered talking about the new guy that is a part of the Atlanta Hawks.
Atlanta Hawks just keep making moves man. Keep making moves of course. No more Zachary Richerche
but we have Ryan Nemhardt and we also have Lou Dort to be a part of the Atlanta Hawks. Somebody
that you know the last couple seasons have been actually rumored around the Atlanta Hawks as well
and the Atlanta Hawks end up acquiring him. I did cost us our number one overall pick Zachary
Richerche but hey at the end of the day the Hawks are making moves and we're going to talk about
some more moves today. Talking about Mr. Jalen Wilson first because that's the headline but I
also have some meat and potatoes for you for our new trio on the perimeter. So but guys before I
get too far into this report because you know how I like to do but let allow me to let you guys know
that today's video is brought to you by good old Prize Picks and of course Prize Picks is America's
number one sports picks app and the best way to get into any action. We're going to dive into the
awesome promos later but make sure that you guys download the app using the link in the description
and the pinned comment. Use Digest to sign up today. You have to be a new user. New okay but
you can get $50 instantly in your lineups when you play your first five dollars and it helps the
channel out a lot so we really appreciate that. Get back to that in a moment but of course you
know we got to make the main things the main thing. Let's see that's what we like to do around
here. We're talking about Mr. Jalen Wilson. It's a lot of Jalen's in the NBA you know we got a lot
of Jalen's around and we're adding another Jalen to the roster to go along with Jalen Johnson
and Mr. Wilson but Mr. Wilson is on a two-way contract and the Atlanta Hawks now have filled
all three of their two-way slots for the 2026-27 NBA season. Again Mr. Wilson who was added and he
also played his first three seasons in Brooklyn where he averaged 7.4 points per game but we also
have Ray J Dennis who is on a two-way contract as well and don't forget about Kashawn Gilbert.
So we have one forward well a guy that kind of you know can play versatile roles to a degree
and you got two guards on those two-way contracts. Now each player can receive a maximum of 50
regular season games NBA games but they will also earn a little bit over six figures over
six thousand excuse me over six hundred thousand dollars for the 2026-27 season and that is half
of the standard rookie minimum apparently. Now as far as postseason their eligibility they're
ineligible for the playoffs or play in tournament unless the Hawks convert them to a standard 15
man roster spot before the final day of the regular season. So those are just little updates
about how it's going on with the two-way contracts and who has some but since I have them up on the
screen let's talk to talk a little bit more about Mr. Wilson. Anywhere between six foot six
some they have them listed at six eight but it's also depending I know with shoes on it's probably
about six seven but he's a wing you know it's another wing perimeter guy stretch forward who
also you know like I say he already has NBA experience but like a lot of people that I've
been kind of like diving around trying to get a little info a lot of people feel that this kid
is way too good to be on a two-way spot but he has upside that the Atlanta Hawks possibly may
be able to cash in on. So before a tournament professional he was also a member of the
great program to come out of he won the NCAA national championship in 2022 was consensus
first team all-american honors in 2023 selected 51st overall in the 2023 NBA draft by the Brooklyn
Knights that I was saying this I was just being funny okay but um overall he has 176 NBA appearances
so again you know and out of all that he also has 27 starts out of the games that he has played so
he's probably my opinion is he got pushed out of Brooklyn they got a lot of young talent coming in
and it's like okay well it's just how after two years of Zachary Ricochet and the Atlanta Hawks
decide they want to move on the same thing with the Brooklyn Knicks they decide they want to move
on and even though real quick I know that Zach is only 21 I've talked about it too he has upside
think about it to the Hawks fans this is this is also two ways of thinking we've been asking
as a as a whole as a fan base as a whole for a guy to come in and lead this team and not hold
on to guys for too long so you can't have it both ways right but back to our new addition
uh the fit and the role I'm assuming that he's going to come in and be immediate
assurance policy on the wing just in case we was to lose a player as player go down
you have them at least on the defensive side to and on the offensive end to be able to play
multiple positions now again per NBA rules because Wilson has already had three years
of experience under his belt his two-way contract can only be for a single season
if he remains on his deal through the end of the year he will be a restricted free agent
at the next summer but the Hawks will have control over matching offers and good stuff like that
but either way it goes welcome to Atlanta Mr. Wilson we'll see exactly where you fall
we'll see how many games you actually play in but moving on I want to start talking about
the new addition Lou Dorff it's time to get into the meat and potatoes of this thing guys
I'm going to talk about not only Lou I'm going to talk about Nikhil and I'm also going to talk
about Dyson this is strictly defense guys because we have now a new defensive trio that is going to
hound the perimeter okay hound it you already know how good Dyson and Nikhil worked together
last year but now you're adding Lou Dorff somebody who even though he's six foot four
he's a physical guy who can guard smaller guys and bigger guys now let's talk about some things
about old Lou now we're going off of you know this past season as far as these percentiles
of what I'm going to tell you guys but I'm just but I want to let you know um the closer you get
to a hundred the better it could just because I know I'm going to be going to do some things and
I don't want to confuse you guys at all but the closer you get to a hundred the better so
talking about Lou Dorff last season he ranked in the 100th percentile when it comes to matchup
difficulty and because he's a new guy I also have a little visual just to show you exactly
kind of what I'm talking about here so at the top number one is Lou Dorff and then I got I
got it highlighted as well as you see in yellow for the matchup difficulty a hundred percent
so that's the hundred percentile I'm talking about you see number two is Stefan Castle you
see number three is Jalen Wells and well look at there you got Dyson Daniels right down there
at the bottom put a pin in that I'll be back but again Lou Dorff was one of those players
one of the best defenders that the OKC Thunder had along with you know Alex Caruso as well I
would say that but you think about Lou he took on some of the toughest matchups night in and night
out sounds familiar to a guy that we already have here but again Lou Dorff ranked in the 87th
percentile in the stop as well he's excelled in drawing offensive fouls ending up in the 99th
percentile when it came to that he's only six foot four like I said but he's a physical and strong
guy taking on assignments like a Jamal Murray or even um a Shea Gill I mean it's not Shea Gill
he would take on whoever the best defender would be you know I said like even Shea he probably does
guard Shea in the um in the practices and everything like that so I wasn't necessarily
all the way wrong when it comes to that but think about this ant man he's guarding all those type of
guys James Harden, DeMar DeRozan, Lou Dorff has always had to come see all those guys even down
to LeBron so he's used to guarding bigger guys he's used to guarding taller guys as well and he's
trying to stay with the smaller guys even like all the way down to the Tylee heroes of the world
so with that being said this guy is a guy who is going to be at the shooting guard but depending
on who the matchup is you can see him at the small four as well just being an extra defender
and somebody who also can knock down some shots uh knock down some threes here and there I know
I said I wasn't going to talk about offense but I just wanted to throw that part in there he has
improved um a little bit on that three point shooting but regardless Lou Dorff is somebody
that's going to come in and really take the pressure off of Dyson Daniels and Nikhil Alexander
Walker speaking of those two let's talk about Nikhil first so Nikhil Alexander Walker it
goes without saying that he's a great that he's a good defender I think he's a good two-way player
for the Hawks I know he started off on the bench but because of injuries he had to come into the
starting lineup but it helped him shine not only on on the offensive end but on the defensive end
um and of course we already know about the offensive leap but talking about defense
for Nikhil Alexander Walker I got a little something for you oh no Nikhil Alexander
Walker was 90th percentile in the stop percentage similar like I was saying about how Lou Dorff was
87 the closer you get to 100 remember and also 89th percentile with 1.3 steals per game 98th
percentile when it comes to 3.5 deflections per game being active and having active hands
getting in those passing lanes turning defense into offense but not to uh and also think about
this too with Dyson Daniels taking on the best defender for our team now um honestly when Nikhil
came over it made it easier for him because don't get me wrong Nikhil can definitely defend but it
goes without saying that Dyson takes on the most difficult matchups and then you will leave you
will leave Nikhil with guys like a Conn Knibble guys like a Quentin Grimes you know what I'm
saying those shooters those guys that can really like tear you up from their perimeter you let
Nikhil Alexander Walker stick to them like glue while Dyson is taking on the more head of the
snake you know what I'm saying guys and you know what I'm just you know being a point of attack
for that right there and now you add Lou Dort in that mix which should make things even easier
and make and he's a very solid defender who can generate turnovers but of course the man of the
hour the best defender still you know it's an out at the guard position and on the perimeter
wing position is of course Dyson Daniels okay and I mean it's it's it's obvious okay we don't even
have to go into we know how good Dyson Daniels is I've talked about it on how when he came over
the the whole makeup for the Atlanta Hawks defensively changed you've seen the effort
come and be even more evident and the effort coming out there it was infectious Dyson Daniels being
again the Great Barrier Thief and coming in and changing the culture for the defensive end he was
the beginning of it all think about that and he's still setting the standards coming into another
year with the Atlanta Hawks which would be year three with the Hawks Dyson Daniels is that guy
and I got the stats right here to illustrate that as well Dyson Daniels 90th percentile in the stop
percentage just like Nikhil and a little bit higher than Lou Dort 98th percentile with the two
steals per game so again you have him and also I want to say about Nikhil Alexander Walker he did
well just like Lou Dort as far as drawing offensive fouls but this right here 100th percentile
with 4.1 deflections per game okay having those sticky hands and being pesky and just getting um
disrupting everything that the offensive player even thinks about trying to do Dyson Daniels does
it and he is still the guy who I would put out there to the guard the best defender but think
about it Lou Dort will be coming in being about 27 so he will be the oldest out of all these guys
out of all the perimeter defenders but think about Dyson taking on the number one option
something that Lou Dort used to do right you something that Lou Dort used to do now Dyson
is going to be that primary option making things easier on the defensive end for Lou Dort and Nikhil
think about when all those guys are in sync like a triangle and those guys are going to be having
seen a man the the defense that I'm just thinking about guys I just had an awesome thought in my
mind about how guys are going to try to uh screen and roll guys are going to try to screen off some
one guy to another guy and it's like you're going from one problem to another to another
on the perimeter and it does make the Atlanta Hawks better on the perimeter the only teams
that I can think of seriously guys they can have a better perimeter trio than this right now on
paper on paper will still be OKC OKC still has Caruso they still have Case and Wallace um they
still have you know a team of guys that can defend so they have a pretty good one uh as well I think
San Antonio Spurs I mean of course they got Wimby out there but as I showed you before you see
Stephon Castle on that graph that had Lou Dort number one you seen Castle was number two and
number four was also Dyson Daniels because Dyson Daniels ranked fourth overall when it comes to
that stop percentage so it's just like again Dyson being that guy but Stephon Castle like I said he's
a difficult matchup he plays very good defense then you think about also the New York Knicks
Miles Bridges and then you throw Josh Hart in there as well who seems like he's just everywhere
those teams right there they I believe they have a little bit better than the Atlanta Hawks but
you still it's just on paper everyone has to go out and play now so we'll see exactly what
the Hawks can bring moving forward it's going to be interesting I can't wait guys get yourselves
together as far as on the defensive end on getting ready to take away the ball more I'm expecting
more steals more deflections I'm expecting more times to where we can turn the defense
into offense guys but that's all I got for you today welcome to Atlanta again Mr. Jalen Wells
another Jalen on the team and Lou Dort, Nikhil Alexander-Walker and Dyson Daniels about to be
another perimeter nightmare for opposing teams and it's all good for the Atlanta Hawks until next
time peace and blessings to you all Hawks fans until you all and I'll holler. Guys before I get
