Hawks fans, it is draft week and actually this week has massive implications for the Atlanta
Hawks as articles forecast a big test for the Atlanta Hawks front office going forward. Now
of course this week it is draft week and we are certainly excited. There you see
Zach Richechet in last year's draft. But this year, well this week for sure is draft week,
we're going to talk about Ansai Salah and the rest of the group. That means Bryson Graham
and Peter Dinwiddie. We're going to talk about the front office as it stands right now or what
we all see currently and we're going to just talk about some draft decisions that they have to make
going into draft day as well as what does July 7th has to do with the Atlanta Hawks and what
they got planned for the future. We have so much to talk about. The draft is what two days away
so we're super excited for that to go down. I'm super excited to see whether well what we're
going to do with the 13th and 22nd pick in this year's first round. I'm pretty sure that the
Atlanta Hawks have a lot going on so let's just go ahead and just jump right into it.
Really quickly, let's go ahead and yeah. I just want to thank everybody for you know watching
you know watching my content or our content I should say. Myself and Chris Tipmore, everybody
at Digest Media, we thank you guys for rocking with us, chopping it up with us and stuff like that.
Super excited. I think right now we are sitting at about 1,700
and I think 60, 63 subscribers so definitely thank you for that. That is definitely cool.
Again, 2,000 subscribers before the start of next season is the goal. Hopefully actually I want to
get to 2,000 by the draft night. You know we definitely are excited for what we got going on
and of course with the Atlanta Hawks we definitely have a lot to talk about and I've all I've said
going out of last season especially once we had the Atlanta Hawks have gotten rid of their
then general manager Landry Fields and brought in Ansai Salah and I said that they were going to
have to get something done. They had even spoke to the fact that they were planning to bring in a
president of basketball operations. So I knew from that point on the Atlanta Hawks were going
to have to work extremely hard this offseason. Fortunately for them their offseason started at
the beginning of the playoffs you know of course due to the unfortunate exit by the Atlanta Hawks
so we understand you know what this has to go you know what this has I guess what this implies for
the Atlanta Hawks. Like I said this has massive implications for the Atlanta Hawks and I'm going
to explain to you guys basically what the test looks like. I mean and you already know the draft
of course that's coming up moves after the draft free agency of course we just saw that Kevin Durant
is now a Houston Rocket which is major news across the NBA going into the NBA finals yesterday.
So again with that we know that there are going to be some more major things coming down the pike.
Now let's go ahead and just jump into the front office you dig what I'm saying talking about the
front office as it stands. Of course you know we have Ansai Salah who is our general manager
who has taken over for Landry Fields. Interestingly enough Ansai Salah and Landry Fields both were
promoted to this position with no previous general manager experience. So again you know with the
Hawks going into this situation I'm pretty sure that they are confident in what they're doing.
I squint my eyes at the fact that you would get somebody with no kind of experience in the GM
role but nonetheless I you know I want to see how this works out and I'll explain later. But Salah
actually previously did serve as the Golden State Warriors president of basketball strategy and
counsel. So with all of that this might explain Bryson Graham and Peter Dinwiddie because both
of these guys do have front office experience especially what senior level or executive level.
Of course Bryson Graham senior vice president of basketball operations for the New Orleans
Pelicans started out with a well he was with them for 15 years even served as the general manager
last year during their time you know last season or whatnot. Was definitely very instrumental in
drafting a few successful players like Jose Alvarado, Trey Griffey no I'm sorry not Griffey
Trey Murphy, Herb Jones just to name a few guys like that. And of course he does reunite with
someone that he did draft at one point in time which is Dyson Daniels back when he was with
the Pelicans. Dyson was the number eight pick in the 2022 draft. So I do feel as though Bryson Graham
is definitely going to be brought in for draft purposes. You know he's going to be brought in to
give his expertise when it comes to the draft who to pick. He's going to help us out in the
the side of you know picking at the number 13 and number 22 spot. Again myself and Chris Tipmore
have definitely come on here multiple times and spoke to the fact that the Hawks could potentially
trade away that number 22 pick for bench help or a veteran presence. But again he could come in and
explain to us that that might necessarily that might not necessarily have to be done.
And I'll explain that later on because that actually has something to do with July 7th.
The date that the Atlanta Hawks must honor coming up soon and I'll explain that even further. But
even going forward you got Peter Dinwiddie. Of course Peter Dinwiddie you know he comes
to the Atlanta Hawks with five years of executive experience for the 76ers.
Before Philly he was the senior vice president of strategy and analytics. So with all of that
he definitely is going to work closer with Coach Quinn Snyder. They have plans on improving
Coach Quinn Snyder's offense making it more fast-paced more centered around Trey Young.
So we know that these guys have their positions for a reason mainly because
wants to create a more collaborative effort. I do believe that they still have plans on bringing in
a president of basketball operations. So that would make sense be that you know Bryson Graham
is a senior vice president of basketball operations. So we know that there's going
to be more coming into this fold and I'm excited for that. Now the Hawks again like I said they
have the number 13 and number oh yeah I didn't put up uh brother Dinwiddie but you get what I'm
saying you know Peter Dinwiddie uh him having his role in improving the the the overall team.
I don't want to just limit it to the offense I want to keep it at the team in general on both
offense and defense uh because again we want to make sure that we're not in the play-in but more
in the playoff situation. All right now again going forward to the draft this year uh the Hawks
they do have the number 13 number 22 pick um and I have a question for you guys. Is this deja vu
because the first time the well the last time the Atlanta Hawks had uh two number one or not
yeah two first round draft picks was back in 2019. Now we remember back in 2019 uh we ended up
uh and I feel like those were two good drafts at the time uh unfortunately Cam Reddish didn't
necessarily pan out like we liked him to he actually ended up going to the Lakers and from
there I haven't seen where he's ended up at. I would expect for him to still be playing in the
NBA who knows uh but DeAndre Hunter he had eventually showed himself to be pretty decent
um but still kind of left a lot of Hawks fans wanting more so of course with him uh he ended
up going to the Cleveland Cavaliers there we brought in Larry Nance um no not Larry Nance but
um uh the other guy three-point shooter name's Kissman but either who uh we did send him there
but the point that I'm bringing up is the fact that these guys they have to make a very informed
decision at the number 13 and number 22 position okay the Atlanta Hawks they definitely want to
make sure that uh they're capable of bringing in somebody that is going to pan out for the future
how the Atlanta Hawks are going to basically set themselves up not for just this year or for the
next two years but the next four five and six years so with that uh I bring up July 7th right
now on July 7th the Atlanta Hawks um I'm bringing it up really quickly yeah so July 7th the Atlanta
Hawks um they basically created a 25.2 million dollar trade player exception so that's a TPE
which expires on July 7th and as a part of the Desjardins so this is something that is a part
of the Desjardins Murray trade uh they have an opportunity to possibly bring in a quality
quality veteran depth player uh that can come in and basically serve as a role this
money is allotted for specifically that one reason uh I think there's also a um
uh yeah do I have a graphic here for it I would actually want to say I do
uh really quickly yeah so basically the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks are a potential
destination for free agent uh Nikolai uh Mikhail or Nick Alexander Walker
okay um and we all know Alexander Walker uh from um the uh the Minnesota Timberwolves
I'm gonna bring up uh bring him up really quickly but yeah Alexander Walker of course he's a you
know part of the Minnesota Timberwolves he's somebody that could possibly be brought into
uh the Atlanta Hawks uh organization with this uh TPE yeah a traded player
uh traded player uh exception and then also too uh we can also uh be looking at potentially
uh potentially bringing in um Brooklyn Nets guard uh these names are really skipping me but
we could also bring in some more veteran help so with this one move that the Atlanta Hawks
can possibly bring in I see where the front office plans on going I do feel as though the
front office they want to have a more collaborative effort but something that could be a little more
sustainable for the Atlanta Hawks going forward so with all of that again we can only wait until
the draft comes down uh because I believe that's going to give us somewhat of a blueprint as far
as what the front office plans on doing going into uh July August September just the the off
season or the you know the free agency era period or whatnot because the Hawks they have to get it
done like I said gotta make sure we're in the playoffs and not the play-in uh but either way
you know you guys tell me in the comments let me know what you feel uh who we should bring in and
also too if I forgot some of your favorite players let me know in the comments yeah y'all can just
have at it but anyway my name is Walter this is Atlanta Hawks Digest and I'm signing out. Peace.
