Well, hi there everyone from the FOX 13 Weather Center. I'm meteorologist Ilona
McAuley. The much advertised heat has arrived and it is arrived in a big way.
We've got some of the locations around western Washington expected to see some
of the hottest temperatures so far this year. Today and tomorrow we are going
to continue to see that hot conditions and the hazy conditions continue into
Wednesday with another day with the heat advisory. All of this of course is
going to continue to increase the fire danger through much of the week. We
have a chance for some thunderstorms once again on Thursday. We'll show you
that coming up and then finally starting to see some slightly cooler
temperatures by the time we get into the end of the week and the weekend. The
smoky skies are sticking around as well for at least another few days. The wind
direction of course with those offshore flow winds will continue to push the
smoke in from eastern Washington as well as over the border in parts of
Columbia. That smoke will impact more of Skagit and Whatcom County. By the
time we get into Wednesday evening though, you can start to see the wind
direction turning so that onshore flow will help to push the smoke back off to
the east just a bit. Not going to clear it out totally, but it'll look much
different by the time we get into the middle and the end of the week. Look at
the roller coaster of temperatures. We're going to go from 94 degrees
tomorrow, then cooling off into those low eighties for thursday friday and
then finally back down into what I like to call the Goldilocks weather
with those temperatures back into the seventies. Checking out that future
cast, not much in the way of rainfall as we mentioned for us today or
tomorrow, we will start to see the remnants of that tropical system elida
pushing in some of that moisture coming in from the south once again. And
that's where we have the potential of seeing one or two isolated chances for
showers, maybe a rumble of thunder. The best chances would be in some of the
locations around the cascades and the cascade foothills. We'll watch it
closely, especially for the fact that we could potentially talking about some
additional lightning and then finally it will push out of here pretty quickly.
Thereafter storm prediction center does like the chance for those weak storms
mainly off to the south come late Wednesday night, a little more
widespread as we get into thursday. And of course this is not where we want to
see that is in eastern Washington and in central Washington where it's
already really dry. But we'll continue to hone, hone in on that forecast and
watch it really closely as we get to thursday tonight. Not a lot of relief
from the heat. It is going to be uncomfortable sleeping today and
tomorrow 65 for the overnight low will be at 63 in Shelton high temperatures
tomorrow, 94 Seattle triple digits in Centralia. That's not the only place
to, we're going to continue to see 100 degrees possible out there in Issaquah
upper nineties expected on the east side in Bellevue and down into Pierce
County as well. Your seven day forecast will show we back off that heat for
thursday friday and then finally cooling off even more by the time we
get into the weekend and on into early next week.
