Members-onlyHow Chinese Characters Teach Values
🎧 Free live seminar with Mr. He — first session July 22: https://cal.com/hechinese/seminar
In this members-only Q&A, we explore how Chinese characters do more than represent words—they preserve values, ways of thinking, and cultural traditions that have been passed down for thousands of years.
Using two classical character examples, we examine how ideas such as seriousness, discipline, and respect are embedded directly in the structure of the written language. From there, we explore the relationship between Chinese characters, music, ritual, and traditional education, revealing how language has always been connected to the cultivation of character.
Finally, we reflect on the classical teaching principle 教之道,貴以專 ("The essence of teaching lies in focused dedication") and why sustained focus has long been regarded as the foundation of meaningful learning.
This lesson is part of the HECHINESE Members Course, where we teach Chinese through an integrated understanding of language, culture, philosophy, and history.
