Percy, Percy, uh, I said, you seen Percy? I said, no. He said, yeah, Percy out there playing basketball. I said, you lying. Percy outside playing basketball by himself. I said, bro, stop playing with me. You gotta be lying. He's like, I'm dead serious. And he gave me this look that as a brother, I'm like, oh, he ain't playing with me. Man, I took off running. But yeah, so you tell, can you tell the story about Percy, about how you ran into him? Like that, that alone is just iconic. Yeah. So it's funny, man. God works in mysterious ways, guys. And just know he loves you gave the nation. Um, I was going to the barbecue and I, we so happened to be a, uh, our early, uh, rival cow. He, he, he, he wasn't on CPT. He was, he was, his arrival time was perfect. He said, I'll be there at 11. He was at my house at 11. It was amazing. I thought he teleported at 11 weird concepts. See when you tell them what time to be there, a weird concept to be on time. Okay. The barbecue started too. I'm not that far from Gainesville. I'm only like an hour and 45 minutes, man. What are you doing? I love you, but I mean, I got to hang out with you for an hour beforehand. So we take off, we ride and I call Marcus FaceTime me. He's like, Hey man, my daughter's, uh, at the tennis tournament in Jonesville. And so I was like, man, you come into the barbecue. He was like, yeah, I might just try to come when we get a break or whatever. I looked at him. He had to give him that look because these guys get ghost on you. Matter of fact, I'm an hour early. Where are you at? Send me your location and I will come to you and just make sure I can see you. Cause I know if I put my eyes on it, you're going to show up. Okay. So this is what I need to start doing with you, Steve. When you, when you tell me you're going to be somewhere, I just need to just harass me. Yeah, that's what you got to do, brother. All right. You're giving me the blueprint. Excuse me, making me choke. Listen. So he FaceTime. So he gave me an address and it so happened to be like in the proximity of where I was going to be. I was going to be out an hour early. So let me go see him. I pull up there. I get out of the car and you know, I'm just, I'm just locked in walking. I'll pass a basketball court. See some guys playing basketball, like out of the corner of my eye. I don't pay no attention. I just keep walking and going through the little room. We go to the back where the tennis courts are. I see Marcus. He got his mom and family there. I'm what's up, bro. Love and everything. I'll say, Hey, the mom and Mike, the tail calls me. The guy, the photo that that photo is actually at the tennis court. So you got Mike the tail calls me. He like, bro, where are you at? I said, I'm in games. Are you coming to the barbecue? He said, bro, I got a family reunion to go to in Georgia. I'm not, I'm not going to be able to make it. I say, bro, now you got to come see me. I went here with Marcus and his mom. And I'm here. We right up the street from you. You're like, all right. I'll stop by. Just say, what's up? Like, cool. So he called me. He said, I'm outside, bro. I say, man, come in. He say, nah, bro. I got to go to my family reunion, bro. I got to go. I like brother Marcus. Mom is in here. Come say, Hey, he's like, all right, bro. I got you. I get out of the car. He gets out of the car. He walks past the same area. I walk past, go through the gate, get to me. He say, you see me and Marcus episode. We give each other love. He said, man, um, Percy, Percy, uh, say you seen Percy. I said, no. He said, yeah, Percy. I didn't play basketball. I said, you liar. Percy outside playing basketball by itself. I said, bro, stop playing with me. You gotta be lying. He's like a dead series. And he gave me this look that as a brother, I'm like, oh, he ain't playing with me. Man. I took off running or running through the people thinking I'm like, if he was there, he might be leaving, bro. I get out there and I see Percy man. Percy, he, he, he going down to basketball court this way. And he like, Hey, y'all out there, brother. He's dribbling so fast between the legs doing all these moves. He was talking about, he killing it. It's like one o'clock. He in a hard down sweat, brother. He go down to the end of the goal. He shoot the basketball, but he missed. I was like brick. He ran up to me, gave me the biggest hug, man. It was like just an amazing moment. He all sweaty. I'm dry. He gave me the hug. Now I'm wet. It's all love. I ain't seen my guy in a long time, man. You know what I mean? I couldn't believe that this man was out here in the middle of this sun playing basketball by himself, hard down. Like this was no kidding, boy. I thought he was going to the NBA. I thought he was AI, AI Curry, somebody like that. I told you it was one V five. They were just playing somebody. Yeah. So I told him, I was like, he gave me a hug, like, man, Steve, I miss you, man. I talk about you all the time. I said, Mark is inside. He's like, you lying. Marcus school. He wouldn't run it. She ran through the building and gave Marcus big hug. We saw him like, man, come to the barbecue. Like, brother, you know, I'm coming. I say, bro, come on, man. I'll go to the barbecues. I'm going to go home and change. You went home and change. He jumped in his little slingshot and at the barbecue, man. We went home and changed. Well, we'll leave. Yeah, we went home and change. Look, incredible stuff. And look, I think it's going to. This is here. Here's I'm getting goosebumps thinking about it because you and I haven't discussed this. We've alluded to it, but we're going to talk about this picture right here. Not that picture. This picture right here, this picture right here is going to embody what you just said. So we are going to teleport 20 years and it's going to come together. And you feel me right now? This is what happened on Saturday. OK. Yeah. You had you and Percy Harvard meet up. We have had Lewis Murphy and all these greats come on the show. And the biggest thing that we've always I've always asked, what was it that made you guys different? And it was the culture, the brotherhood that we built because everybody was unison and together. Right. And the fact that a defensive line, an entire defensive line group had Percy just and just elated running around and come see you guys and be ecstatic shows the culture that you know, for sure. And then you told me Dallas Wilson wide receiver is at the defensive line barbecue at the barbecue, man. And Percy Harvin come to the D-line barbecue. I might say we're going to win a national championship here, which I'm going to book you their tickets. Yeah, I'm not hyped up over it. Guys want a barbecue. Yeah, I am. What what what what season are we in right now? We definitely have the height above a barbecue. What are you talking about? You know what it is? Oh, six is twenty six. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm like the me. But look, it's falling down. It's not a bobblehead. I'm fired up. The whole thing. Whole scene just crashed. Yeah. Listen, man, it was it was it was great having them there, man. And the guys having the ability to see him in the flesh, man, you know, Percy, the ghost man, he's the greatest gator to ever put on a uniform in my eyes and a lot of people's eyes. And so for those guys to be able to see him and talk to him and stuff like that was a great honor to be able to pull that off. And it was only God that did it. My relationship with him is great. My relationship with Percy is great. He loves me. I'm a big brother to him. He gave me more credit than I deserve for who he is, but he came out of the face of me and Marcus and it was amazing, man, just to see the reaction. Coach Chapman to get a chance to meet him. And, you know, some of the other guys that are on the team that never got a chance to meet him in their lives. So him just showing that dedication and unity between players, especially in greatness, you know what I mean? And people who understand what a championship mentality is and what it's like to be a dog. So as I just get to Dallas, I didn't know Dallas was coming. So it's not a deal. I'm already there, but he pulls up with McLeod. And as soon as I see him, I'm like, what's the hell? No, man, what's going on? I got Percy in the building. Dallas here. I know how it was for us with the one of the receivers click up with the defense alignment, man. You got some real dog stuff going and the boys do anything to win. So it was dope for me. So I'm Dallas. I'm yelling. Hey, yo, Percy, come on. I'm going to introduce you to Dallas, man. He's like, no, I put them together, man. Just let them boys meet. You know what I mean? And it was just great to have that moment. Look, I think hearing you talk about it yesterday, I don't I mean, I don't think I've ever sat here. You sound so giddy in my time. I've been man on the other side of that guy, bro. He that guy. And I know our relationship and how much he loves me. I won't go into detail, but the man loved me, bro. We got a real relationship. So we had kind of lost contact. I got his number two years ago. We had a spring game, got pitched with my kids and stuff. And I changed my phone to my phone and lost every contact I had. I lost everybody. And then, you know, my brother, a real legend and a real ghost around here. So it's been hard to rekindle that relationship with him. And so to run into him, fireworks just went off, man. We were acting like we was kids again. I mean, it's I've been fortunate enough to be able to sit down with you when we interview, obviously, your past relationship or any of your past friends or teammates, obviously, not past friends, past teammates, and just see it come together like a spark up on the screen. So I can only imagine how it was in person, because like you said, you kind of you lose that connection. We heard I got kind of Percy just kind of goes under the radar and, you know, has done his own thing. And can we talk about some of the contacts that you've made today about people just ecstatic about your running to the ghost? Is that allowed? Is that? Yeah. Are we allowed to have that conversation? I don't think it's not nothing on the budget. I received, you know, just a lot of messages today and calls and stuff from people that love Percy, former teammates, man, that was excited to see him. I got a call from Irving today. He was like, man, somebody sent me a picture with you. Was that was that Percy? Yeah, man. He's like, man, how's he doing this stuff, man? Just, you know, showing his love and saying he's the greatest person to to lace it up, man, one of the most electric athletes he ever been around. And everybody just was happy to happy to see him. You know what I mean? Around the program and out and about hanging out because, you know, Percy will do his own thing, man. If you if you if you don't build a relationship with him, it ain't no need for him to try to build one with you. He's good in his own circle. So there's a few people that he really love. And I think that's where anybody, especially somebody who reached such a height, if you want to maintain that thing, you got to keep a small circle. But he's definitely loved. And the amount of people that reached out to me today was overwhelming. My phone wouldn't stop ringing and people just, you know, checking in on them and just wanted to let them know that they love the Gator Nation missile for sure.
