Video Summary
AI GeneratedYahoo has launched a mainstream college football fantasy league, bringing an app-based experience similar to NFL fantasy. The platform focuses on the Power Four conferences and Notre Dame, with leagues opening for registration and drafting on August 3rd, ahead of the September 3rd season kickoff.
Yahoo just launched the very first real college football fantasy football
league, and I am absolutely juiced.
68 teams, new format that nobody's ever played before.
We'll talk all about it today.
Very excited to break this thing all down.
How you can sign up, where you can sign up, and of course, High Top Sports
will be running its own, its very own link.
So if you want in on the action, comment down below, say, let me in, baby.
Let's roll the intro.
Let's talk about it.
Boys and girls, welcome back to High Top Sports.
Today, we are talking about the new addition that Yahoo is bringing to
college football, which is fantasy college football.
Now, I know that there has been a level or some type of functionality of fantasy
football within college sports, but the problem is it hasn't really been
mainstream media where you kind of had the app very similar to your NFL fantasy.
Not anymore, boys and girls.
August 3rd will be your kickoff date.
So a lot of people, you may be rushing off this video, trying to sign up,
trying to create a lead, puff the brakes, can't do anything until August 3rd.
Why?
I've know this because I've tried.
Okay.
I've already been trying to get all in the action.
I want to see what it looks like.
I want to see the players.
I want to see how they have them ranked.
I am just foaming at the mouth to get in on the action for this fantasy football.
So August 3rd, the draft opens up.
You can create your league.
You can join leagues, do what you need to do.
Obviously it starts week within a month after that, which is September 3rd,
obviously the kickoff to college football.
So you have.
About 30 days or so to put your team together or your league together.
If you will set a draft, have all the fun with it.
Drafting over 68 teams.
Okay.
Obviously all the teams in the power for conference, including Notre Dame.
So no Mac conference, none of the, none of the group of five guys, only the
power for conference, keeping it as simple as you can, but with that many teams,
I believe you're allowed to, you could probably have 16, 20 guys in a league.
And then not feel too chaotic.
If you will.
Now, there's so many things we're going to discuss in the video
about strategy and whatnot, but here's how the schedule will go,
which doesn't really surprise anybody.
Obviously, uh, your first.
Well, regular season, we, we weeks one through 11 and then 12 and 13,
essentially your final two weeks at given your bi-week.
So 12 and 13 will be your playoffs.
And I would imagine just like you do in the regular season of football, you
could probably move the playoffs if you wanted it to go three weeks right now,
this is only 14 would make the playoffs.
And we're talking about adding 20 dudes to the playoffs.
Uh, that could be a little bit chaotic.
So that'll be a lot of things that you guys can figure out, shake up
how you want to run your league, but that is how the playoffs
and the regular season will run.
Again, one through 11 is the regular season.
Then the playoffs will be week 12 and 13.
Now let's talk about the roster studies, because this is where it changes from
your typical NFL roster.
Okay.
Somewhat similar, but a big nuance that is adding to this.
So one quarterback, which again, when we get into draft strategy, just early on
the point scoring system is very similar as well.
Uh, 25 yards for, for, for a point.
Uh, touchdowns is four to six, depending on what you want to rock and roll with.
So again, the scoring is very similar to what it is now in the NFL.
And I imagine they'll have custom settings if you want to
change it to whatever you feel.
But one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers and running
backs seem to be the hot commodity from what I was gathering and reading.
The bat will be where you want to, or you'll be able to get most of your
points again, very similar to where things are now again, wide receivers.
I would say are a hot commodity in the NFL, but quarterbacks are
just such a, a dynamic duo.
In a sense, when it comes to college football, you don't know what you're
going to get out of a quarterback.
And you can say the same for the NFL, but those guys are much more
consistent than your college quarterback.
So that is going to be definitely something to keep in mind
when drafting two wide receivers.
Then you've got to kind of a weird scenario with your tight ends.
You've got guys that play the tight end position or are labeled as tight
ends, but are utilized much more as a wide receiver.
So you kind of get that flex play.
Debo Samuel last year was a huge factor that if any of those
remember that in the NFL, you could put him in as a flex or wide receiver.
He was taking balls out of the backfield, like a running back.
That guy was an absolute cheat code because he was just getting the ball fed
to him in multiple different ways.
Uh, uh, Taysom Hill is another one.
Obviously you can put them in a flex because he played tight
and he played quarterback.
He played wide receiver.
There's a few of those guys.
Now in the college football, then flex, you get to, that is different
from your typical run of the mill in the NFL one defense.
And then here's where things get juicy.
Of course, this show is brought to you by price picks, ladies and gentlemen,
right now is a fantastic time to download the app price picks.
Use that code HMA link is down in the description below.
It's world cup season boys.
It's also the NBA finals.
It's the NHL finals.
It is a wonderful time to get in on the action.
They're offering a ton of max discounts right now, along with the world cup.
It is a good time games almost every single day, all the way until the
middle of July for the world cup, which will be fun to tune into the action.
Use that code HMA.
Give me a follow at show on the high top on price pick as well.
So you can fade or support my picks during this time of the world cup.
And we'll see if the NBA finals last any longer than the, than they have already.
It looks like the Knicks might be closing this thing down to the wire.
Take a look at my pick right here.
See if you like, again, maybe you guys can fade it tail along with it or move
on and make your own pick using the code HMA down in the description, using
the link in the description down below price pick is good to be right.
You pick up one entire offense.
Now I'm going to jump ahead a little bit because this is where I get into the
strategy with the offense thing.
Okay.
Cause I'm thinking wheels are spinning.
Right.
And so when you draft an entire offense, let's say we're for our sake here at
home, Florida Gators, right?
You take them versus week one and week two against FAU and Campbell
chicken noodle soup, right?
But week three, they got Auburn.
You got Dirk, his defense.
Things might slow down a little bit.
Are you able to have a handful of offenses stacked up on the bench?
Right.
Who does Ohio state play week three?
Who is good?
Some teams that play some nobody's that I could, that I could stash away
here to rotate back and forth.
That's going to be part of the strategy, right?
The scheduling.
We do it a little bit.
Now in the defense, when, when, when somebody put in with the quarterbacks
and your typical NFL fantasy football draft, who are they playing this week?
I gotta, I gotta, I gotta tinker here.
Team offense.
That's huge.
Right now, the scoring is what's important for the team offense.
This where this changes a little bit.
Okay.
This is a big one for a touchdown of any type for the team offense.
Right.
They have their own separate scoring system.
Plus three points.
First 300 yards of offense.
Plus 1.5 points.
Every 50 yards after that initial 300, a 0.25 points.
A turnover is minus two points.
So big time stuff there.
If a turnover happens again, think about that, right?
When you throw a touchdown, a quarterback, there's a touchdown.
That's six points.
If they're interception, that's two.
It's a little bit, you know, four point differential.
This is three touchdowns for any time or minus two.
So a turnover could be a massive disadvantage.
If you've got a team that, you know, is likely for turnovers, field
goal, plus one team win plus one team loss minus one.
So protecting the ball, keeping the gas on the pedal is going to be important
for the team that you select, right?
Um, it's going to be, again, there's so many nuances and
chaoses that I'm excited to look.
Now, if you're getting some draft strategy, right, let's dive into that.
This was last year's numbers.
If we were to go ahead and score it out, here's how it broke out
for elite tier and just missed.
Indiana top of the leaderboard scoring 239 points.
Last year, Texas tech, 211 Notre Dame, two 10 Utah, two Oh six.
You can see after Indiana was kind of just in a class of their own.
It is very tight, right?
USC being in the bottom in the, in the 10th hole there at one 77, you
can see the variation from two to 10.
It's not much, right?
It's the same as from a second to first, uh, just about, which
is pretty crazy to think about.
But again, all of these things we will start implementing here on the show.
We are pumped to get involved with this.
Talk about this, give insight on what we think, trying to put together the
best lineup starters, who you should sit.
I am excited for the opportunities and what could come from this.
Let me know how you guys feel about this.
Are you going to get in on the action?
Are you going to join a lead?
Are you going to create your own league and get in on it as well?
Again, running back seemed to be a hot commodity for what I'm
reading and gathering thus far.
Again, just because of what you have available, but available, but
I think who they play, all these things are gonna be such a big factor
because of the scheduling that plays a huge component to this.
Love it.
Absolutely love it.
I think I saw a few teams, maybe in the group of five that were upset
of how this thing is shaking up, but we're, we're, we're happy about it.
Now you get to, you get to select your favorite player.
You're going to be cheering for them regardless, but now you're
gonna be cheering for them on a different level when they are
running for your fantasy football team.
It's what makes me harder for the NFL.
And now we get to have that in college football, which again, we're
watching all the games anyways.
It just gives us one more reason to get absolutely bonkers about it.
I'm thinking about doing a pretty juicy, lucrative league
here at high top sports.
How many teams?
I don't know yet.
I got to see this thing.
August 3rd, this thing is going to bust wide open.
I hope we can get some, some tidbits, maybe some insights.
I gotta see.
I want to see how it looks.
I want to see how it feels.
I want to see how they have these, these players and, and the, and
the offense is ranked out and give it the full rankings.
I can't wait to get my fingers in there and get after it.
Mock drafts.
I mean, there's just so many opportunities that we can do with this new world
of college football, college fantasy football.
I can't even say it's a mouthful.
I don't, I don't know.
I don't know how to, I don't know how to rock and roll.
You should just fantasy football.
And everybody knows now it's college fantasy football.
That's what we got to rock and roll with.
Again, let me know that in the comment section below, how are you
feeling about this, uh, this new addition to college football?
Will you be joining the league?
Let me know in the comment section below and I'll see you boys in the next one.
Peace and love, baby.
