Ukraine’s 225th Separate Assault Regiment said it captured 64 Russian soldiers during a clearing operation against infiltrating enemy groups in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to the regiment, its troops conducted operations near Ternovate, Kosovtseve, Rizdvianka, Verkhnia Tersa and Vozdvyzhenka, targeting Russian units that were allegedly attempting to slip behind Ukrainian lines.
“Their mission was to infiltrate the rear of Ukrainian positions unnoticed. They were not supposed to engage in combat. Instead, they were tasked with locating drone crews, gathering intelligence and raising Russian flags for propaganda videos claiming villages had been ‘captured.’ Instead, they ended up in captivity,” the regiment said, adding that the operation resulted in 64 Russian prisoners of war. The regiment did not specify when the soldiers were captured. Separately, Ukraine’s General Staff reported that Russian forces carried out 21 attacks over the past day on the Huliaipole axis near Zaliznychne and toward Dobropillia, Tsvitkove, Vozdvyzhenka and Horke. On the Orikhiv axis, Ukrainian forces said they repelled one Russian attempt to advance near Shcherbaky.
