AI GeneratedThe Toronto Blue Jays are shuffling their roster with several player moves to address pitching needs and injuries. While the team struggles in the standings, a recent win and a resurgence from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. provide a glimmer of hope as they fight to stay relevant in the wildcard race.
The Toronto Blue Jays have just made multiple moves, and following a fantastic display yesterday
by the Jays pitching staff, the Jays have just made multiple moves, including one that has many
fans pretty intrigued. We're gonna break down the moves, discuss what it means going forward,
but more importantly, we have comments from Wladimir Guerrero Jr. surrounding what he did
during the All-Star break that has propelled him now to have a very encouraging first couple
big games back, and also a mini hot streak that is starting to form for him, as well as a ton of
other updates. Before we get into it, a very quick reminder to hit that subscribe button.
You guys have been beasts with the support. Folks, a very early game today. It is, of course,
at about noon eastern, you know, first pitch, which is a little bit insane, and maybe you'll
get a double upload later on in today's video, or sorry, later on in today's, you know, in this
evening. But for now, let's dive into a ton of moves. Now, I want to start with the, ultimately,
the moves that happened yesterday, because before the game, the Jays basically decided to go ahead
and make a plethora of moves. You can see here the Blue Jays are recalling Brendan,
Little, and Lazaro Estrada from AAA. They both will be active for yesterday's game,
with Adam Mako, who recently called up, and who just got his first strike out of his LNB career
just a couple nights ago, CJ Van Eyck. They were optioned to make room. The club needed length,
and wants to give Mako a chance to reset, following a tough stretch. So, pretty important
stuff here, because A, these games matter a ton. They matter an unbelievable amount, right?
And we look at it from the perspective of what this team needs right now. What do they need?
They need a lot. They need offense, they need pitching. But specifically for the bullpen side,
like getting a lefty in Brendan Little, we all have our feelings on Brendan Little, right?
But I think getting him back now is, sure, give him a chance. Adam Mako hasn't been good lately,
a very rough stretch as of late. And for Brendan Little, in case you're unfamiliar,
he's been okay at AAA. He's up to 30 games for AAA. Buffalo, good for a 2.53 ERA and 4.22
ERA per nine. But most importantly, look at the strikeouts. Over a strikeout and inning,
I mean, he walks a ton of people still. He has his shortcomings, but there is an MLB reliever
in there. We saw it last year. Let's not forget, Brendan Little was among the leaders in baseball
with games played. I think he led the Jays last year with 79, a 3.03 ERA. He's 7-1 with Buffalo.
Let's just see what he can give. And if he goes out and he's horrible and he walks a ton of guys,
sure, bring back up Adam Mako or someone else. It's not like they've been really good lately
anyway. A lot of the lefty relievers. And then Lazaro Estrada provides them some length.
He replaces CJ Van Eyck. And this season, six innings pitch, 2.84 ERA was pretty decent in
Buffalo. So those are kind of the major moves here. And I know there's some people with PTSD
from Brendan Little. You got to try something at this point in the season, right? You are in a
very bad spot right now. At least you were prior to yesterday's game. You didn't gain a ground in
the wildcard spot yesterday at all, but you didn't lose a game, right? And that's what matters. You
think about the way the team is currently constructed and, you know, the injuries in
general because or both injuries and the moves in general, because you look at the team.
And I had a video yesterday, like, you know, Addison Berger being kind of gone,
or, you know, government has been the whole year. Anthony Santander being out the whole year.
We'll dive into some comments from Blatty later. They're the team's morale. I don't think it's bad
by any means. And I think it's good to continue to do it, but you kind of needed yesterday's win
and this shuffling of the deck. And there's been so many shuffles of the decks, if you want to call
it that. And that's because of the fact that they have so many injuries, but also when you're losing
a lot of games, there's a lot more moves to be made, right? We didn't see as much last year.
And on that note, yesterday's game was pretty darn impressive from the pitching side. So
obviously Joe Carter Day, his statue was unveiled. Very, very cool statue to be unveiled.
Jay's one, one, nothing. And I think the bigger storyline here is not the fact that Jay's won
the game, even though it's obviously important, the most important thing at this point.
And it's not the fact that, you know, they won one, nothing. It's Shane Bieber. He finally
looked like a pitcher that, Hey, was good. I mean, he looked, he has been struggling mightily. And
you look at this year in general, it has been a up and down rollercoaster from, you know,
Shane Bieber struggling to all these guys to have Shane Bieber come out and play really,
really well was absolutely critical. And, um, also Vlade Jr sneakily getting hot folks. He's
sneakily getting hot. So yesterday he obviously had a double 107 miles per hour off the wall.
A day after a couple of days ago, hitting three balls over 106, the contact is looking much better
as of late. And I want you guys to comment right now and also bear with me. I'm still sick.
Do you think Vladimir Greer Jr is back? I'm not going to say by back by any means, but are you
encouraged at least by Vladimir Greer Jr and what he's done over the past handful of games?
Because you look at it, he's more confident at the dish. He's swinging the bat with, you know,
I guess with intention is the best word to use. And he just seems like he's in a very,
very good spot mentally and physically, and he is lashing balls. And I'll dive into some
comments from him in a minute here because there is, you know, there is a lot. Um, but, but first
let's have a quick look at the standings because you look at the way this team is currently
constructed. Again, the reason they're doing so many different moves here, you're getting
Brendan Little up here, you're shuffling the deck on the, shuffling the chairs on the Titanic,
basically is because of how bad they are in the standings, right? They are currently
lasting at least by two games, technically a game and a half. You're three and a half
games back of a wild card spot still, which means even though they won yesterday, all the
other teams in the wild card from one to three are especially the third spot and second spot.
But the third spot team, the third slot team still they want, right? So that's the unfortunate part.
They didn't gain a game or really any ground, but you didn't lose a game, right? I mean,
you're going up on the Red Sox. They've won 12 games in a row somehow, which is absolutely
insane. They're right in the middle of it. Hopefully the Jays can go out and do something
like that. But in order for them to do that, the injuries that happened to Santander, the injuries
that happened to Addison Bergeron, check out the video in yesterday's game and yesterday's, um,
check out the video yesterday. Sorry. If you haven't already like Santander is probably shot
Berger shot. It almost seems like a mini reset of a season, like one that was just really,
really bad. You go out next year, you do some stuff in free agency, who knows what's going to
happen with the lockout, but there is a part that is, um, has a lot of room for encouragement,
right? And Vladimir Jr. Spoke out and said that he had a lot of treatment with his doctors over
the all-star break and plus lots of time with his family. I needed that. And he spoke on the
Blue Jays position. I mean, we all know it's been a rough year for us. A lot of injuries. A lot of
guys are up and down, like I just mentioned, but like we talked about in the clubhouse,
it's one game at a time. I think we're going to be fine. And it's good to know these self-confidence
within the clubhouse. But again, going back to the moves that they made, the reason they're doing
all these moves and I'm replacing out of Mago, they haven't had a firm bullpen because you have
to keep moving guys around. This team needs to get rid of the cold hands, like at a macro right now
and not get rid of them in an organizational sense, but just in the streaky sense, uh,
send them down because you have to get new arms in. You cannot afford to lose games.
And it's nice to see the urgency that the team is actively playing with and currently playing
with it because you're without a lot of guys. This is obviously Anthony Santon. There's that
you have, I mean, again, in case you missed the video yesterday, we can quickly run through it.
Like injuries galore, injuries galore. You have to go out. They just kind of start winning some
games, man. And like the Red Sox are on a 12 game win streak here. Can the Jays go out and,
you know, do something like that? I sure hope so. Like, is that something that's feasible?
Only a blight of Marguerite junior gets hot and slowly, but surely he's starting to get a little
bit hotter and hotter with each game. So I don't know if folks comment down below what your thoughts
are on this. There's just a lot going on right now. And, uh, hopefully the team can go out and
win. And one final tidbit here, Vladdy's last nine games, OPS approaching 900. It's crazy.
We're talking about this as this, this should be his normal, but again, starting to hit the ball
a little bit better. And most importantly, the team can hopefully turn together. Someone's very,
very soon trade video coming tomorrow. Lots of moves are on the horizon as well here. Like there
are a lot of trade talks picking up. So we'll keep you up to date with that. But in the meantime,
make sure to hit that subscribe button. You guys have been absolutely
peaceful support. Thank you guys for watching. I'll see you there.
