Some big news to go over today as the Dallas Mavericks have just made a huge move and just
hours after the New York Knicks submitted an offer sheet for Moussa Tseisei, Masai Yujiri
did not wait around as he has made a huge move. We're to break down that move more importantly
now discuss what it means going forward as more moves are certainly on the horizon for the Dallas
Mavericks but one thing is for sure they kept their man. I think we can all rejoice in the fact
that Masai Yujiri continues to make very very smart moves him and Mike Schmitz. We're to break
all that down discuss what it means as well as a few other things on this episode. Before we
get to a quick reminder to hit that subscribe button you guys can be some support. Jace,
it was just yesterday afternoon where we were we had a video yesterday morning kind of and
you know we were a bit worried because Moussa Tseisei agreed to a two-year contract with
the New York Knicks of course a two-year offer sheet where his salary was half guaranteed in
the first year and then non-guaranteed in the second year. They had until Monday so tomorrow
to match it or not and many people thought that it would make all the sense in the world to match
it but who knows because of the fact that they don't have a roster spot open. Late last night
it was confirmed the Dallas Mavericks have matched the New York Knicks two-year 4.7 million dollar
offer sheet on Moussa Tseisei on the 6'11 center signed the Knicks offer sheet earlier Saturday
but Dallas matches well before the 48 hour Monday deadline. I think the reason they did this so
early is because they want to send a message here that this is their guy they're not going to let
him walk for nothing but Jace this is interesting because moves are going to be coming now but keep
in mind they don't have to make the move before of course signing Moussa Tseisei he is now signed
they have I don't know if it's a couple weeks but because of the way that it works with the NBA season
not starting yet they have some time to figure out what the subsequent move is going to be video on
that later today but Jace Moussa Tseisei remains with the Dallas Mavericks. Yeah this is kind of
what we expected and hoped for and we made the video yesterday afternoon morning area because
we knew how valuable he was to this team especially playing at that center position
so that's just a huge thing to have one back on the roster but obviously it is nice to know that
a guy who is going to develop and maybe he's not as good as Cooper Flagg but he's going to develop
alongside him is very nice to keep in your plate and you know we had talked so much about it
yesterday how often he had been around this team how often he had been around the organization
he was at summer league games he was at practices he was in the facility even when he was a
restricted free agent like he was just always around this organization he talked him aside
within the first couple of days that he was even you know hired and even like I said practice in
the facility as a free agent so everything pointed toward one the Mavericks liking him and two Moussa
liking the Mavericks and obviously I think we had discussed it enough but this was something
the Mavericks expected to happen maybe not expected but we're waiting for and so they know
if anybody does decide to offer him we're gonna match him and it was very much proven when they
let him be on an offer sheet for the Knicks for what eight hours before he they matched him like
it was not that long before they're able to match that offer so this is a huge thing for the Dallas
Mavericks for them to one just you know be able to keep Moussa Cisse but also it's intriguing
because it adds for a lot more reports and that's kind of where we go into where you know Moussa
Cisse he can't be moved now like he's not gonna be traded to the Knicks um that's a huge thing so
it puts you in an interesting spot because you've got some guys on the roster but
you still have some moves to make given that you are above the you know 15-man roster limit
yeah now obviously did they expect Moussa Cisse to get the Knicks offer sheet maybe maybe not but
I think it would be kind of dumb to think that they weren't they don't have a plan right they
had a plan the whole time and I think they knew if it's okay if a team offer Moussa Cisse an
offer sheet like the Knicks did we're gonna match it basically no matter what it is but then of
course they're obviously had a plan for what the subsequent move will be which I have a video on
later and we'll touch on in a minute but diving back into Moussa Cisse a little bit like they had
to keep a Mavericks or obviously Knicks fans are pretty hype about signing him he has a ton of
upside and if you're keeping this core together why not keep a 23-year-old center who showed
immaculate I don't know that's the best word amazing defensive upside here and again you
just couldn't let him go and he had showed great upside last year and especially in a season that
was all but lost last year didn't end up getting a fantastic you know draft pick number that they
got a great though they got a great pick with Merez Johnson Jr. you can't it's a lot more
difficult to find players like Moussa Cisse than I think a lot of fans give credit for of other
teams and you had to do it you absolutely had to do it they did it and what that means going forward
is up in the air surrounding what the next move is but there was no world where they let him go
to a team that just won the championship and I can guarantee you that they would have used him
in a very interesting role and we would have been watching not every Knicks game but every time we
see his name in the highlights it would have been kind of a gut punch there and I'm very happy
Masai Ujiri continues to be proactive he waited like you mentioned a few hours yeah it makes just
so much sense it also adds for now a key like discussion point of you know how he can be used
because the Knicks cannot trade for him now that his offer sheet is matched however they would be
able to sign him if he is waived so you know there's not going to be some sort of Moussa Cisse
offer coming in from the Knicks where they want to try and get him he can't be traded there now
again 16 contracts though so they're going to have to figure out luckily they have some time
but what it did do and of course well a full video discussing this probably later but it does open up
some interesting reports like this one from Brett Siegel in which he talked about Moussa Cisse how
the Mavs clearly wanted him which isn't a coincidence and also putting more into the
Daniel Gafford trade talk saying that Dallas has been looking to move him for value this offseason
and based on talks at the summer league in Vegas he's likely going to move like we said we'll talk
about this more in a future video about what that could be for what the offer sheet might or what
the offers but that might be for Daniel Gafford but seems like a pretty obvious point at this
point that Daniel Gafford is going to move which is expected you've got Derek Lively obviously
Dwight Powell the potential of him there for him to come back obviously have him in the depth chart
at the current time but you've got Moussa Cisse and Derek Lively for sure in that center position
I think it's a very good depth chart as it stands and it's just going to get better and better
obviously and put Kyrie back in the starting role as him being healthy and it makes for an exciting
upcoming season and Moussa being back is just adding to that excitement knowing the defensive
capabilities and knowing the rebound capabilities because that is obviously a huge part of him and
you know certain statistics that he's done is pretty crazy I mean being top 10 in most rebounds
is one thing and then you talk about the you know athletic ability it's it's just it all
comes into play when you're talking about Moussa Cisse yeah very very quick quick turnaround and
ultimately here it's going to be exciting and we look back to what we talked about yesterday
the relationship is there and that's something very different than the Nico Harrison days and
you know he's done a good job in Messiah's year and Patrick DeMonte getting these guys on him
and Mike Schmitz they've worked very closely together now with the draft pick you mentioned
I'm excited to see what he's going to do we saw yesterday kind of off topic a little bit
Braden Burris looks really really good so people are going to keep popping off my feed people are
going to talk about that till the end of time hopefully you know Merez Johnson jrc ends up
being decent but yeah on the note of Daniel Gafford video coming on that later today it seems
like he's going to be the guy that's moved but for what is the question because you don't want to
move him for the sake of moving him because he's probably one of your best value pieces outside of
PJ Washington so keep an eye out on that and again like you mentioned earlier trades aren't going to
16 players on standard contracts and obviously we bring up the depth chart it's not fully
organized for the starting lineup obviously Kyrie's going to be a starter Brandon Williams
is probably gone but you have Merez Johnson jr there Dwight Powell we're going to keep him there
forever because I feel like he's always going to find a way to get his way back to the team
they still have some work to do they need another center Santee Aldama I mean or maybe do they ride
with Derek Lively and Moussa Cissé now especially if they're trading Daniel Gafford who played a ton
of five last year I don't know he's an absolute it's going to be crazy Darius or Jace any final
thoughts on this it's going to be a wild next few days yeah I think we can very much say that
there are a lot of things that are still left to be discovered with what this you know full
roster is going to look like because it is now over the limit as we mentioned 16 standard contract
players they've got to have 15 um he's still on two more players for training camp so there's
some time to kind of make this work and go about it but you know we're getting deep in the off
season now and obviously Masai Ujiri and Mike Schubetz are working hard and they knew immediately
you know if Moussa got an offer sheet they were most likely going to match and it took them eight
hours to say yeah we're going to match and I bet it probably took them less time and Shams just
got their portal late or the fact is he tweeted out and said I can't tweet out in two minutes
later that the Mavericks put out the offer sheet but I almost guarantee that the Knicks made the
offer and the Mavericks said okay us too like that's it was very quick I guarantee you yeah
the number itself I always talked about whether they're offering it it's very fine 4.7 million
very reasonable one-half guaranteed couldn't have worked out any better folks thank you guys for
watching
