We have a major San Francisco Giants update, as they make a very sneaky move within the
organization. One of the more forgotten prospects just got promoted to a higher level, and we are

into today's video, obviously, it's that time of year, I mentioned this in one of our more recent
videos, but it's the middle of the season, and we're starting to get a lot of the promotions in
the minor leagues. You know, guys show what they could do at a certain level to the first two to
three months of the season, then around the all-star break, they get promoted and get their latest test
in professional baseball, and as I mentioned in the intro, we get another, you know, more notable
prospect in the system make their promotion with the San Francisco Giants. Now, the guy we are
talking about in this video is Trevor Cohen. This comes from Chase Ford, who does a great job covering
minor league baseball. He said the San Francisco Giants are promoting outfielder Trevor Cohen
to Richmond AA. Cohen had a .297 batting average with 31 extra base hits and 26 stolen bases for
the Eugene Emeralds. Now, I mentioned Cohen's one of the more, you know, underrated prospects in the
system. Of course, when you think of current prospects in the organization, you think to
Josuar Gonzalez, Luis Hernandez, Jackson Flora, Carson Boliman, there are a ton of names like
Dakota Jordan, Bo Davidson with really high upside and a lot of prospect pedigree, but Trevor Cohen
is a guy who gets, you know, forgotten about a lot in terms of the most highly touted prospects
in the farm system, but he's having a good year of his own. Now, we look at what he's done so far,
and this is from the SF Giants Digest Twitter account, so if you don't follow that yet, make
sure to go over on X and follow them, but the SF Giants are reportedly promoting outfielder Trevor
Cohen to AA Richmond Squirrels. Here's what last year's third round pick has done in 380 plate
appearances this year. A 297, 387, 416 slash line, 120 WRC+, 3 home runs, and 26 doubles, 28 RBIs,
26 stolen bases. You like to see that with how bad the Giants have been in stealing bases over
the past few years. A 13.7% strikeout rate and 12.6% walkout rate, so this guy came right out
of college baseball at Rutgers, you know, a third round pick last season and hit the ground running
in professional baseball. Now, he's walking basically as much as he's striking out. He's
not going to slug a lot. You kind of know that in his profile. He's never been a guy to hit a lot
of home runs. He did it in high school. I mean, excuse me, he did it in college, and the Giants
were not expecting him to in professional baseball, but hitting close to 300, not striking out is
exactly what this regime likes, and that's exactly what they drafted in the entirety of last year's
draft for the most part. You know, their first round pick in 2025 was Gavin Keenan, an SEC star
who didn't strike out a lot and hit for a very high average, and that's exactly what he's doing
in the minor leagues. So, you know, Trevor Cohen getting promoted alongside Gavin Keenan, going
from Eugene to Richmond. It'll be a really fun to see what this guy could do at the next taste
of pro ball. Now, moving forward, kind of looking at what his prospect Savant profile looks like
right now, and there's a lot of red. There's a lot of things to be excited about on this page.
Now, the strikeout rate, the whiff percentage, the zone contact rate, those are all the highest at 95,
96th percentile in all of minor league baseball. There's some other really high ones up there.
Savant's score is in the 89th percentile, so that's obviously very good. Obviously not in the 90th
percentile, but still right on the outside of it. You also look at his, you know, zone swing
percentage. He swings a lot at pitches in the zone, but it's okay that he does that because basically
every time he swings, he is making contact, and as I mentioned, the strikeout rate at 95th percentile
is exactly what Buster Posey, Zach Manassian, Randy Wynn, everyone in the Giants development
camp is really looking to see in a lot of their prospects, and it is a good sign to see a guy
like Trevor Cohen, who you never know how guys at mid-majors, I know Rutgers is in the Big Ten, but
it's not a huge baseball school. You don't always know what, you know, guys from smaller baseball
programs are going to look like when they make the transition into professional baseball, but
we forget Trevor Cohen was a third round pick. It's not like this guy was drafted in the ninth
round or the 12th round later in the draft on day two. He was a third round pick, so the Giants were
very high on him to pick him that early in the draft, especially when not a lot of teams were
going to pick him, you know, that early. Of course, it was probably an underslop pick by the Giants a
year ago, but still, they had to have been high on him, they had to have liked him, and that was the
start of, you know, the Giants now drafting Peyton Bonds in the third round of this year's draft, so
it started that relationship, and this just looks like a pick that is really going to pan out nicely
for the Giants. Now, does he become an everyday regular at the big leagues? I'm not sure about
that. You can kind of get into what his profile looks like as it currently stands. Now, this was
Arm laying a nice write-up on Trevor Cohen on the Giants top 15 prospects list that came out a few
weeks ago, but Cohen was Buster Posey's third round pick a year ago and perfectly fits the
model players San Francisco tried to bring to their system since the introduction of the new
regime. The 22-year-old is a left-handed outfielder with good back-to-ball skills and a contact
oriented approach, walking as much as he struck out at the lower levels. He likes to go the other
way, which exaggerates extreme lack of in-game power, as he has some sneaky raw pop otherwise,
89 mile an hour average exit velocity, and I think that's something that's kind of forgotten
in Trevor Cohen's profile is, you know, when looking at a lot of video, looking at a lot of
his data, there is some pop in there. He has some good power, it's just his approach really,
really hinders that. You know, he doesn't pull the ball, he doesn't pull the ball in the air
whatsoever, so a lot of his approach is going the other way, you know, kind of that old school mind
of hitting and it helps him hit for average. There's no doubt about that, hitting around
300 in his minor league career, but it really does hinder his, you know, power potential.
His offensive ceiling could be raised significantly if he can find a way to pull the ball in the air
a bit more, as we just mentioned. He's a plus runner with strong instincts and projects as a
slightly above average defender, capable of manning all three spots, so great out much better
in a corner, but possesses solid arm strength and is a good enough athlete to handle center.
He profiles as a fourth outfield type who could move through the minor leagues quickly. Now,
defensively, he's fine. You don't have to worry about him in any outfield spot, most likely it'll
be in a corner, but if the Giants need him to, you know, play center in a pinch in a few years,
there's no question he would be fine out there. In terms of the speed, this is a guy who, as we
mentioned, 26 stolen bases so far in 2026, and the Giants have been bottom of the barrel in terms of
stealing bags at the big league level for the better part of a decade now. The last three years,
they're one of the worst two teams in baseball in terms of total stolen bases, so it's something the
Giants have lacked for a long time, and seeing guys put up numbers like this in the minor leagues
is extremely encouraging. We look at guys like Dakota Jordan, who've been stealing a lot of bases,
Bo Davidson even, who could be up, you know, at the end of this year, early next year, so
we're starting to see some of these prospects learn how to steal bases, learn how to use their speed
a lot more effectively than we have seen the big leaguers for the San Francisco Giants
over the past few seasons. Now, I did mention we would get into some specific picks from prize
picks in today's video. Now, of course, the World Cup is going on, the final, Argentina versus Spain,
probably the chalk final that a lot of fans were not hoping for, but we did end up getting it.
We'll see Messi versus Yamal, kind of the the go of soccer versus the young star, and you can go
more or less 0.5 goal plus assists with Messi. Obviously, there are a ton of picks you can go
on how many times a guy's off sides, excuse me, more or less on prize picks. You can check out
all of those picks on prize picks today. Now, prize picks is also running some really great
promotions as we currently sit here. They are currently doing their Flex Friday, which is back

Now, getting back into this conversation about Trevor Cohen, the Giants farm system,
I mentioned he gets forgotten a lot when we talk about the best prospects in the system, but
in terms of what Buster Posey likes, in terms of what this entire regime, the people running the
Giants like, it's guys who don't strike out, it's guys who get on base, and it's guys who hit for a
very high average. That is exactly what Trevor Cohen excels at, so it would not surprise me if
we see him up at the big leagues at some point in 2027, if there is a 2027, and that is extremely
exciting for fans of the San Francisco Giants. We're starting to see this next wave of young
Giants come up now. You look at Bo Davidson getting promoted, Gavin Keelan, Dakota Jordan
also going with Trevor Cohen to double A. We're starting to see these prospects we've been hearing
about for, you know, a year or two now get closer and closer to the big leagues, and it's finally
looking like the youth development is working for the San Francisco Giants after having such a
lackluster farm system and such a lackluster ability of developing these young prospects
over the past decade and some time, so really exciting to see Trevor Cohen get promoted,
and we will definitely be following how he hits in the Eastern League with double A Richmond
Flying Squirrels because that is a tough environment to hit in one of the toughest
leagues in all of professional baseball to hit in. Thank you so much for watching. If you enjoyed
