Ukrainian journalist Denis Kazansky once again stated that narratives about the difficult situation at the front for Russia are increasingly appearing in the Russian information space. According to him, even top Kremlin propagandists have begun to talk about how Slavyansk and Kramatorsk have been transformed into powerful defensive fortifications, and that storming them will require colossal casualties from the aggressor country. Russian military observer Viktor Baranets stated in a broadcast that Slovyansk and Kramatorsk are well-fortified cities prepared for a protracted defense. He added that Ukrainian forces have created dense minefields, engineered obstacles, and an extensive system of defensive positions, which will significantly complicate the Russian Army's advance. Commenting on these statements, Denis Kazansky noted that they differ radically from the Kremlin's official claims of the supposedly successful advance of the Russian Armed Forces. He noted that Baranets also acknowledged the continuation of fighting in Konstantinovka, despite Moscow's previous claims of its capture. According to Kazansky, Russian propaganda is gradually preparing the audience for protracted and extremely difficult battles for the largest agglomeration in the northern Donetsk region, with enormous losses. The journalist also drew attention to Baranets's words that it is impossible to determine the timing of the possible capture of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.
Viktor Tregubov, head of the Joint Forces Group's communications department, said that Russians like to paint the picture that if a separate group has passed somewhere, that's it, they seem to already control everything there. “This is simply not true. The question is whether these groups manage to gain a foothold there and start accumulating. That is why the Russian reports are completely schizophrenic," the spokesman said. Military expert Sergei Grabsky explained that Russia's plans on the front have remained unchanged since 2022: the complete occupation of Donbas. This is why the most intense fighting is taking place in the Donetsk region. As for the enemy's operational and strategic goal, they plan to primarily capture the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. According to him, the Russian army continues to conduct intensive fighting in the Konstantinovka area in order to capture the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. "The enemy continues to attempt to advance north from Pokrovsk with the goal of taking complete control of the road that connects Bakhmut, Konstantinovka, Pokrovsk, and continues on to Pavlograd. This is critical for the enemy to ensure the ability to maneuver resources and assets and move forward when planning an offensive on Kramatorsk," Grabsky explained. He noted that Konstantinovka is currently the key element, since the road to Kramatorsk runs through this city. "No matter how we talk about troop actions, infiltration, and movement, in any case, if we're talking about the operational level, without a road and without communications, it will be impossible to carry out such an offensive. This is precisely why we're seeing such active combat operations in the Kostyantynivka area. This is where the enemy's main efforts are currently concentrated, and they continue to press on our positions," the military expert stated.
