LSU’s Next NIL Move Could Shake Up College Football
Jul 14, 2026
And I've wondered why the SEC hasn't done this.
Why they haven't been as aggressive.
Again, LSU has.
But I'm wondering why we haven't been as aggressive.
I'm going to play this clip really quick.
I don't know if we should be frightened from this clip.
Or it's all smoke and mirrors.
But I have learned over the last year and a half.
LSU, they say some crazy ----.
But damn, is it usually on par?
It usually hits, unfortunately.
I hate to admit it.
But damn, it does.
This is from ESPN.
You guys will watch it.
We can kind of take a thought on it.
Top 40 donors from PATH, LSU Athletics.
I went to the Governor's Mansion either August 3rd or August 5th.
To hear a proposal from LSU President, Dr. Wade Roos.
That could, and I quote.
Quite possibly change the future of college sports.
I have heard rumblings of this for a couple of months.
No details.
But rumblings that Dr. Roos, who has a financial background.
Has some ideas to create revenues.
And we all understand.
That the bottom line in all of collegiate athletics right now.
Is revenue.
You cannot survive without money.
Lane Kiffin cannot come in and bring a recruit in.
And go, hey, see all these Jim Thorpe awards?
We've also got three national championships.
See that huge stadium?
Check out this sick locker room.
Hey, are you from Louisiana?
It's home, baby.
Come on in.
Doesn't work.
And oh, by the way.
Lane Kiffin probably wouldn't work here.
If you didn't have a ton of revenues.
Everything comes down to creating revenue.
So that you can spend enough to keep up.
If LSU can transform the game.
That's going to be something that puts LSU a leg up.
Until everybody jumps in and eventually copies it.
It's clearly something they've been working on for a long time.
If you've got the confidence to send this letter out.
And invite that brand of people into the governor's mansion.
It's probably going to work.
So this is very interesting to me.
You know, watching this.
You wonder how much of that probably had a huge influence on Lane going to LSU.
Because like he said, this has been something in the works for quite some time.
What it is, obviously we have no clue.
It's pretty been kept type secret.
We're seeing, right, with how the Big 12 got the monster contract.
We're seeing schools with XRP.
LSU already has a patch.
They're one of the few schools that have already got an investment for the patch.
Florida has not got one yet from my understanding.
Which again, like he said, these are avenues of generating revenue.
To help support buying your team.
Because like he said, nobody gives a damn about taking a picture with a trophy that you won 10 years ago.
It doesn't really have any type of correlation anymore.
Nobody cares about how nice the locker room is.
Everyone has nice locker rooms.
This is going to be the next evolution of college football.
Which is how can we generate enough revenue to buy everybody that we want to be able to buy.
And you don't want to be late to this party.
That is one thing for sure.
And I think he's spot on, the guy, whoever that was.
You don't send out this type of...
You don't invite the 40th biggest boosters to this type of meeting.
Unless you got some kahunas to be able to host that meeting.
And have, obviously, some ideas.
LSU has been known to be, I would say, surrounding some unique situations.
When it comes to funding and whatnot.
But I will say, it has been eerie to me.
Watching the Big 12 and the teams of the Big 12.
Navigate the way they've been navigating.
By signing patches, by doing the monster deal.
They are all in on trying to generate revenue on a level basis.
Because their rev share isn't as big as the SEC.
So they're almost forced to be creative sooner rather than later.
And I wonder why the SEC hasn't done this.
Why they haven't been as aggressive.
Again, LSU has.
But I'm wondering why we haven't been as aggressive.
Of course, this show is brought to you by PrizePix, ladies and gentlemen.
Right now is a fantastic time to download the app PrizePix.
Use that code HMA.
Link is down in the description below.
It's World Cup season, boys.
It's also the NBA Finals.
It's the NHL Finals.
It is a wonderful time to get in on the action.
They're offering a ton of max discounts right now.
Along with the World Cup.
It is a good time game almost every single day.
All the way until the middle of July for the World Cup.
Which will be fun.
So tune into the action.
Use that code HMA.
Give me a follow at Sheldon Hightop on PrizePix as well.
So you can fade or support my picks during this time of the World Cup.
And we'll see if the NBA Finals last any longer than they have already.
Looks like the Knicks might be closing this thing down to the wire.
Take a look at my pick right here.
See if you like it.
Again, maybe you guys can fade it, tail along with it.
Or move on and make your own pick.
Use the code HMA down in the description.
Using the link in the description down below.
PrizePix is good to be right.
So I didn't realize this until my buddy came in from the Marine Corps.
He's an OU fan.
And usually buys season tickets.
Oklahoma is now mandatory.
Before you buy your season ticket.
It depends where you sit.
Like premium seating.
It's a $2,500 contribution that you have to write to the NIL.
Before you even get your season tickets.
You have to give them an entire check to the NIL of $2,500.
And then turn around and pay your season tickets.
On top of it.
So there are teams out there doing some stuff that we've been calling for.
A mandatory donation for away tickets.
Is Florida doing that too?
So it's sort of a thing.
I was shocked.
I'll tell you what happened.
I was at Swamp the other day getting dinner.
And I click order.
It's on the thing.
Do the check.
Then the girl comes back over.
And as soon as I click no receipt.
The next thing that pops up.
It's an automatic.
Do you want to donate to Florida Victorious?
$10, $20, $30.
I love it.
I've been asking for it for so long.
I'm like wait until I tell Cody this.
This is going to make his day.
I'm like dude I just came in for a burger.
I love it.
McDonald's does this and I think it's fantastic.
Do you want to round up to the Ronald McDonald house?
Do you want to round up to Florida Victorious?
So easy.
Yes.
If my burger is $15.50.
Make it $16.00.
Let's go get a de-tackle.
Who cares?
I don't care.
Imagine getting basically a dollar on every transaction per day.
At a stadium.
At baseball games.
It's so easy bro.
So easy.
Just slide it in there.
We're not financial gurus.
They may do it and we don't know.
Because I am not spending money at those concessions.
Those are unbelievable.
It's like $16.00 for popcorn at Conjure.
It's ridiculous.
LSU plays by their own set of rules.
They always have.
Here's the thing.
We bitch and complain about these schools
playing by their own set of rules.
We should too.
You should.
I've always played by my own set of rules.
This whole thing was created by I don't follow the rules.
I do what I want.
That's why I go the way that I do things.
I'm a big believer in doing your own thing.
Especially in this world
I can't really get in trouble.
There's nobody to report to.
The argument that colleges make is we report to nobody.
No you don't.
You don't report to anybody.
They fired their athletic director
and then hired Lane
with no athletic director
just because they wanted him so bad.
The governor hired him.
There is no strategy here.
There's no reporting.
The nastiest thing I got
in the chamber though
for NIL is
every single away ticket
that you sell like visitor ticket
you bang them for 50 bucks.
Straight to Florida Victorious.
Every rival fan
buying tickets
I don't know if you can do that legally.
How do you know who the rival fan is?
The visitor side.
It's pretty
I don't know.
It's pretty easy to pick out.
Also
the thing with Oklahoma
that was kind of a shocker
was that they're dinging their season ticket holders
$2,500
that you gotta write a check before you're even allowed to
pay for your tickets to the NIL.
They do it at UF too because
we got season tickets last year
and my dad's like Matthew what is Florida Victorious
that's making me donate.
It's a thing.
It's part of the season ticket package now.
Which is good.
We have to quit.
We in Florida have to quit being
and I apologize for the morning ears pussies
in this new world of the NIL.
That's what's happening here.
We're scared because of the Rashada thing.
The Rashada thing made us scared.
I wouldn't necessarily
usually bite on a video like this
from an LSU thing but like I said
the one thing that I
learned quickly
what I've learned
by watching LSU is that
usually when they bark
a bite follows
and so
I hate it but
they're not just blowing smoke
there is some legitimacy there
I think again what it is we obviously don't have a clue
but I think the way that he looked
at it of hey they're bringing everybody
together we're seeing
I mean Texas Tech obviously has moved the needle
to a certain extent of how they've approached
some things. Again you're watching
I do believe these commissioners have
a lot of egos and that could be why
the SEC teams haven't done a lot
but this is where I think
the heat's going to get back onto
Strickland where I believe
watching this and seeing other people
is Strickland is very
good at staying within
the rules and building a college
around rules that are
implemented and what I mean by that is you've got
great CEOs that can come in and run a
business that is already
sustainable that is your
typical Fortune 500 company. Then you have
CEOs that are good at building
stuff up. Taking a company from
X and building it to a
powerhouse which then ultimately becomes
taken over by HR and then it becomes
your big Fortune 500 and that CEO
would then move on because they don't
manage well within the rules.
Does that make sense? I'm
the latter. I'm the guy that's
I don't manage well within the rules. I'm not
your HR guy. I said something
the other day I got in trouble for it. It wasn't even that bad.
Probably was.
That's why here is great because I can still do
what I want. I'm
a much better in operating
my own horn of like I'm this
guru or anything but I function better
in a building. Hey be creative
go break things world
and I think Scott which again
both of them are needed. I think
we need a little bit of both right now and
Scott either needs to hire a guy
that can help him push himself.
He's old school
right or
he's got to figure out himself.
My mic is
I hear it.
Go ahead Matt.
Okay. What I was going to say quickly
is if this video
came from an NC State
or an FSU or a
SMU we wouldn't
think anything of it but because it's
LSU like I believe
them like they're going to
they always have an idea up their sleeve
and they're always first like
they're first to everything
that they are that
I think that you know the
Gator fan base is so big
that we have we've kind of missed out
on opportunity. We probably
could be up there with Texas Tech and
LSU when
it comes to spending and Texas when it comes
to spending power because
the fan I mean we're
this is July 10th and
there's 390 people hanging out with us
and this video is probably going to see
do thousands of views like
no other fan base
has a fan base
like this that is starving for
you get some winning
get some winning on the field watch out like
the donations are going to flow
in the problem is Florida's NIL
situation has always
kind of been a little rocky they had
obviously
they started the school didn't even
ever sponsor it or
do anything with it and then they sold
it Florida Victorious had a
rebranding after that
like we've kind of been behind
the eight ball we thought we were innovative but
we really weren't
we got it we have
to the donors are
going to donate right but the
fact of the matter is is you can
you can hit another level with
Florida Victorious if done the proper way
there's
thousands and thousands I mean it's one of the biggest alumni
living
alumni's out there like
the logo means wait they're on everything
the problem is
you got to have a killer running
that NIL and that's
going to be innovative push the needle
send out emails send out
flyers do do stuff
that gets
the fan base involved
as many things as you can
get to donate money this should be
like a presidential campaign
you should be tired of if you're
in the local area you should be tired
of seeing Florida Victorious up on your
your TV screens
radio billboards
like it should be like oh my gosh
is election over yet like
Jesus everywhere everywhere that
we get it they need to get back with the
podcasters they there's some
serious things that they could really they have
the keys to to a Ferrari they just
need to put it on the track and get
the right driver they've done better
they have done better from a
student
student perspective when Tommy came back
I was almost annoyed I thought it was funny
it's like I got an email straight to my student email
Thomas Hawk is back
buy your season tickets and donate to Florida
Victorious today and there's a whole
article about it in my email and then
what I realized that NIL is it's kind of
like a job and what
makes a job so difficult is
to get a job you need experience
you can't
get experience without having a job
but you need experience to get the job
so it's like how are you gonna
you it's hard to get money when
you don't when you haven't shown the wins on the
field to earn the money but you can't get
wins without money like
that's what makes it so difficult and that's why I'm glad
Sheldon was dumb enough to give me this job because
I don't know how I not it's hard
to get a job and no experience
but I
think that it's just so important
to get the money
to win games because once you start winning
games it's just gonna flow in but
that beginning is so hard
like that
we had no money in basketball we went to Nadi
and all of a sudden we're rich
that's it like once you win
without money
the tough part is you gotta get to the winning
and sometimes you gotta be able to
you also gotta spin before you win sometimes but look
