When Your Dog Prefers the Hose Over the Actual Pool!

What a crazy night we had here in Northern Michigan. We woke up at 4:00 AM to what sounded like a freight train, only to find out a severe summer windstorm brought down some massive tree branches in our yard and completely knocked over our neighbor's tree. Thankfully, our fence is still standing, and everyone is safe! After doing a quick fence check and driving around the neighborhood to see how everyone else fared, we found out Aunt Pat lost a big birch tree in her driveway too. Even the local squirrels were left wondering what happened to their homes!
Once the storm cleared, it turned into a beautiful, humid summer day, which meant it was the perfect time to open up the pool for the Siberian Huskies! Kira and Eleanor had an absolute blast hanging out on the pool floaties, catching their favorite squishy balls, and playing with the water hose. Kira's absolute favorite game is biting the cold water coming out of the hose, even if her whole face goes completely underwater!
While the dogs cooled off, Jamie stayed busy busy busy. He checked on the cabin house and then spent the afternoon doing some incredibly satisfying pressure washing on the concrete surrounding the pool to get everything ready for our Fourth of July guests. To top off an already wild day, Jamie spotted a rare Blanding's turtle walking right down the middle of the road, so we stopped to safely help our new turtle friend get across and head toward the lake. We wrapped up the day with a nice evening neighborhood walk to look at the storm damage and got some sweet snow goose greetings before bed!

💦 Opening up the pool for a fun summer pool day with Kira and Eleanor
🌊 Kira going crazy playing with the ice-cold water hose and her favorite squishy balls
🧼 Jamie doing some incredibly satisfying pressure washing on the backyard concrete
🐢 Rescuing a rare, endangered Blanding's turtle from the middle of the road
🐕 Taking the dogs for an evening neighborhood walk to see the storm cleanup
