Updates! Finally Did "THIS" at Islands of Adventure

I'm finally going to do it. I've never done it. I've talked about doing it but I've never done it. That changes today. Hey what's going on everybody? Rick here and this is your weekly update visit into Islands of Adventure. But before we head into the park here in CityWalk, in yesterday's video I asked about this roller coaster feature right here. I thought it might be in Immelmann. It is not. According to you guys in the comment section it's an overbanked turn. So thanks for letting me know that guys. Just do not expect me to retain that information. Well this is a little different. After you scan in at the pass holder entrance they now have an A-frame sign with QR codes. You know for the wait times, the show times, the maps and everything. I've never seen it over here at this entry. I cannot do that thing I teased you about at the beginning of the video for about another 45 minutes. So we'll just wander around and hopefully find some good updates for you in the meantime. Over here at the island market and export I thought this was going to be just a quick little project but they haven't completed it yet. I didn't know the caricatures did this but you can now just leave a photo and then they'll do the artwork from the photo. The character from the photo. I've never seen that sign before. I never knew they did that. I mean it makes sense that that's an option. That way you don't have to sit there and wait while the caricature is being done. You'll have fun and come back and pick it up later. I'm paused here because I'm not sure which way to walk around the park today. I might do things in an unconventional manner today. Don't forget that brown and black eat a snack has the Bavarian pretzel and specialty item the cinnamon apple pie churro. Why isn't this moving? Why isn't this loading? We need to see if it's delayed. It is delayed. This is the first time I've ever seen a meet and greet off in this direction over there. I mean he is in the shade but he's not going to get a lot of walking by foot traffic. You gotta notice him and walk to him. There goes the Grinch and the Lorax. They get the prime location right over there. I just talked to some team members and they swear that this is going to open up again very soon and as we suspected it should be a meet and greet area for the characters to meet and greet guests while in air conditioning. But come on man it's already the second week of July. It's hot. Let's get those characters indoors in that air conditioning please. All the books you can read now located in a corner inside of the Mulberry Street store. Let's check on the Lost Continent real fast. See if anything else has been destroyed or demolished. The griffin fish still here. It looks like the strategy for re-theming the Lost Continent is to do the what is that that is the north side. Do the north side first. I'll be very interested to see if they just tear down this restaurant because to renovate it just the exterior would be a major major project. Might be easier just to knock that sucker down. Well no real progress that we can see from in front of the construction walls. Like no new buildings have been torn down or anything. Probably a lot of work going on behind the construction wall that we can't see. So let's double back and start making our way to the place where I can do the thing that I'm going to do today. Well the Triton is gone. The big giant Triton but we can zoom in there. We can see the looks like the feet those two big feet that were at the entrance are still there. Yes sir this is certainly an unconventional way to move around the park today. I'm going to get in some extra steps. There were some short wait times in Seuss Landing this morning. Cat in the Hat was a ride now as was Sky in the High Trolley and the Karasu Cell. They didn't even bother to say five minutes. They said ride now. Judging by the screams Marvel Super Hero Island making a lot of people happy this morning. Inversions. Watch for the launch. Watch it. Wait for it. There it is. Doctor Doom. A one hour wait for the Hulk by the way and as you can tell no cozy mosey through Marvel today. I still cannot get over the change at Intemplary Popcorn. The switch from green popcorn to regular popcorn. You know it was green in honor of the Hulk or if you prefer if you like the villains it was green in honor of the Green Goblin. The Fantastic Four mobile. It's closed today. Spider-Man the wait time almost as long as the Hulk at 55 minutes. Seems like the wait times at least here in Marvel a little elevated than usual but yet Seuss Landing was less than usual. Inside of the comic shop. I'm very close to having to have to buy the Iron Man shirts. At $35 to replace my Hufflepuff shirts. I have 30 of these Hufflepuff shirts but several of them are getting to the point where they're gonna have to be decommissioned so and they don't sell them anymore so this is gonna this might be my yellow t-shirt for Universal from now on. Well once I have to decommission all of the yellow Hufflepuffs that still might take till the end of the year though. The summertime with all the sweating is a little rough on these shirts. Okay we're almost to the thing. The thing I teased but we're gonna look and see if there's any new prizes here at the Midway Games. I'm not noticing anything I haven't already shown you. Yeah all looks very very familiar. All right well no update there. I spoke too soon. Over here at Whack-A-Mole these like little I guess they're meant to be drinks or maybe milkshakes like Hello Kitty milkshakes and stuff plushes, milkshake plushes, drink plushes. These these are new. Okay and they're over here by the Whack-A-Mole. Now into 2 Lagoon or more specifically the Comic Strip Cafe to do the thing I've never done before. Order the Double Wellington. This is the Wellington double stack cheeseburger. Two each 5.3 ounce grilled Angus beef patties, cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickle, onions with special sauce. $21.49 for the double. I've never had the double Wellington. Let's give it a try. See if I'm up to the task. You won't believe this. They forgot the special sauce. Guess I have to make my own special sauce. Ketchup, mayo, and mustard. Well there we go. There's my special sauce. Ketchup, mustard, mayo all mixed together using a french fry. Well now I've had it. I've just had it. The double Wellington. Um a little bit disappointing. It was good not great. Now the patties still had a lot of flavor but they were dry. Really really dry patties. Like maybe they were they were cooked and were just sitting around. So probably I would not recommend the double Wellington but if you're interested in the single Wellington I bet they're a little fresher if you get them from Wimpy's. Comic Strip Cafe Wellington I would not recommend. They just they were just too dry. The patties were dry but like I said they did have a lot of flavor and I did the whole thing so that says something right there. But there you go. I finally did it. The double Wellington. Too bad I was just a little disappointed with it. Now let's keep walking around this theme park in the heat with a full belly. Wimpy's is open today. You know what I should do? Not now. Maybe maybe several weeks from now is try the single Wellington from here just to verify that they still have the juiciest best patties in a theme park because the Comic Strip Cafe the double Wellington uh they were not juicy. To the side of Wimpy's is a restroom and they do have one of those pharma boxes outside that restroom. Well since I left the Comic Strip Cafe a little disappointed you know what will pick up my spirits watching people get soaked on Popeye's and Bluto's barges by this waterfall. She's fighting it. She's fighting it. Oh she got a little lucky. She didn't get hit directly. The one girl there she really was fighting trying not to get soaked. She just got a little bit of a splash. I spent about 20 minutes on a live stream the other day up here at the free water cannons just soaking people. I'm going to do it just for a minute or two right now. The water cannons up here are free use. Let's see. And here I go. So in yesterday's studios video I showed you where you could get some maple bourbon habanero popcorn. Well overhead islands you get it at the poop deck. Kaboomski. The what's the matter you store. I think they're doing the same thing like at all the books you can read turning it into a meet and greet area. An air-conditioned meet and greet area. I mean Popeye is a pretty tough dude but even he can't take the heat sometimes. Kaboomski. So we had low wait times in Seuss Landing. Elevated wait times in Marvel. And Kong is just a 15 minute wait. Kaboomski. I learned a new word today. Here in Jurassic Park this red liquid streaming down no doubt the result of a raptor attack. I'm not saying it's blood. It's red. It's liquid. We are in Jurassic Park. You do the math. Roof work being done on the Jurassic Park River Adventure entryway. The roof there. Look at that. They got some scaffolding. Got some guys up there working. So with the Fast and Furious roller coaster I asked about an Immelman. It's not an Immelman but this this feature right here of the Velocicoaster is an Immelman. And I was trying to time that to see it in action and I guessed wrong. Hopefully it's not delayed. Maybe I'll just cut. Maybe I'll just cut to when we do have some action on the Immelman. Never mind. The app says it's on an extended delay. But anyway there's a look at the Immelman feature. That's too bad because when I was having my lunch there was a group of school kids and they were talking about the next thing they were going to do after leaving the comic strip cafe was to go ride the Velocicoaster. And then it's delayed. So extended at that. So I feel bad for them. From a tropical island to a British Isle. As far as the castle is concerned it's all painted except this part right here which is you know part of the uh the attraction building. And I'm not so concerned with that. So I think we're done reporting on the repainting of Hogwarts Castle. Hagrid stands at a 90 minute wait. And that's including the fact that Velocicoaster is down for an extended delay. So that attraction not eating up any crowd. So hour and a half I guess. Maybe not too bad under those circumstances. After all it is the most popular ride in all of Universal Orlando Resort theme parks. Some things never change. A long line for Butterbeer on this side. A short line on this side. All right keep calm and cozy mosey on. We are done with the Wizarding World. One last look at Hogsmeade Station before we head into the Lost Continent. We were here already. I gave you updates on it. A few little updates that there were and some thoughts I suppose. But now we're just gonna mosey on through it. Of course I mean that's about all it's been good for for a few years. Nah nah I'm too harsh. You know there's been some food in here. The delicious kebabs were there. But they changed the menu at Fire Eater's Grill and uh took away some favorites of my wife Nikki and of course Mythos. So and Mythos is still open so you can still eat in the Lost Continent. Look they have a little a little food cart right there with churros and beverages. Sodas and beers and churros. Oh my. Sodas and beers and churros. Oh my. So yeah still open but you know they adjust that menu a little while back and I know a lot of people disappointed with the uh chicken stingers being gone. Treasures of Poseidon's closed but still standing for now. That might be the next structure to be torn down. Oh they're still they're still working on the old Fury attraction here. Obviously the Triton gone but the feet are still there and the the whole building remains. So actually that might be the next thing destroyed. But we'll see as we visit each week. Pokemon Land. Legend of Zelda. One Piece. So much talk about it being Pokemon. So much so that it can't be right. I just want a cool ride in here. Give me another fun ride to do. It could be a fun ride themed to Pokemon. Zelda. I don't care. As long as I'm on it having fun. I don't know. You know at Epic Universe they have the new satellite shakes right. And they have three milkshakes there. I don't know if all three of them have a story behind the milkshake or if it's just a chocolate one. But I gotta be honest I really don't care about the lore behind the milkshake. I guess I don't know. Is it nice to have a little story behind the milkshake? It doesn't affect me one way or another. I don't I don't think I care about the story behind the milkshake. But it doesn't hurt anything to have the story. I just don't care to hear the story. Just give me just give me a cold delicious shake. Oh some characters coming out to start their meet and greet time in the in the shade. They do walk around to the shady areas as we wait for the the store to get refurbed or redesigned renovated into an air-conditioned store or meet and greet area I should say. Cat in a hat. Thing one. Thing two. Now all the characters they have their their designated shady spots that they go to. Hurry up and open that. The guests will be in air conditioning too. Everyone will appreciate the air-conditioned meet and greet spot. Lorax and Grinch in their shade. A kid behind me. Don't cut down the trees guys. And there's another shady spot down here under a tree. A little crepe myrtle providing shade for the characters. Now this one like I said it's way off over here off the beaten path. Next thing you know there'll be an A-frame directing us to that meet and greet. No no no don't do that. We're gonna have we're gonna have books and things open. It's up to is that a 10 or 20? It's up to 20 minutes now. It was a ride now earlier now it's up to 20 minutes. Cat in a hat ride. Oh the special popcorn here is garlic parmesan popcorn. That little kiosk there. So you have like your basic popcorn around the park but they've got some different flavors at different spots. Which reminds me or makes me think we have a little a flavored popcorn shop near our house. Mama Bee's and maybe and Nikki's been talking about wanting some of the some popcorn from there. Maybe on the way home I'll get some. I'll surprise her tonight since she's been asking about it. Now last night I did get some Warther's popcorn from Publix but it's just not the same as some of that flavored popcorn they have at Mama Bee's. Keep calm and mosey because of that double wellington I think I'm gonna want a later dinner tonight. Nikki's gonna be starving at four and I'm like I don't know honey I had a double wellington. I don't know when I'm gonna be hungry. Did someone say the word Jumanji? No there's no Jumanji attraction or Jumanji land. Is that what they're turning the Lost Continent into? Jumanji? Swerve. They tricked us all. The voices you hear they were talking about Confisco Grill. You'll also hear their voices inside of the men's restroom here in the Port of Entry. I don't know about the ladies. I don't know if they have audio of them and the ladies. That might be a little weird but that's gonna do it for today. The adventure lives on.
