AI GeneratedSeth and Megan travel from Texas to Colorado in a truck camper, visiting the Capulin Volcano National Monument and Garden of the Gods. Along the way, they introduce their new dog, Buck, enjoy boondocking near Trinidad Lake, and explore the unique geological formations of the American Southwest.
Welcome back to the channel everyone! If you're new here, my name is Seth
and I currently live and travel out of an old truck camper
with my dog Stella and today we're here at Capulet Volcano National Monument. I'm
here with Megan. What's up guys? It rises about 8,000 feet
above sea level and there it is. It's an old volcano
and we're actually doing a trail. It's called the Lava Flow
Trail. Something like that. But anyways, we had to leave Stella in the truck
because there's no pets allowed on this trail because actually the rocks are
very jagged and it's bad for their paws. That's what
the guy at least told me. Oh, you okay?
You can also drive almost to the top of this volcano
but unfortunately we couldn't do that today because it's closed and they're
working on the road. So we just decided to do this quick
trail that leads to, I guess, lava flowing rock
or something. I don't know. Alright, so we're gonna go check out this
Sierra Grande viewpoint. If only we could go to the very top
but it had to close like 30 minutes after we got here or before we got here.
So couldn't go check that out. This is still a cool little trail that
we're on. As most of you know, I've made it pretty
clear in my videos. I'm not a big fan of New Mexico
but I will say New Mexico is quite beautiful.
As you can see, it's kind of barren, a little bit flat.
There's a few hills, a few little mountains but
it's quite beautiful. I like it up here and it's a beautiful day too so that
helps a lot. It's really nice out. Enjoying the view.
And this is like a bunch of old lava, right? Is that what you call it?
Yeah, I think so. Lava rock. So at one point
when the volcano erupted, a bunch of lava flowed down it
and a lot of it's right here. So this is like a bunch of rock and
stuff. We're in the Rayton Clayton volcanic field.
So okay, this is actually the Rayton Clayton
volcanic field which is an 8,000 square mile
volcanic field with about 120 volcanoes.
One of the largest volcanoes in the field is Sierra Grande
which I think is that one right over there.
So I didn't even know that was a volcano but
I guess that's a volcano and this is a volcano too.
So the more you learn. Alright guys, so this morning we left super
early about 5 45 and we've been driving all day. I think
we've done around 500 miles so far.
About nine hours of driving and we've made it all the way
to northern New Mexico. The goal is to get to Colorado.
So we're actually gonna, I'm gonna go back to Trinidad. That's
one of the places I've been to already in the last few videos.
We actually camped out there next to a lake and it was pretty beautiful.
So we're gonna stop there for the night cook up and stuff but
I'm actually headed out west and check it out. There's a few
or there's a few national parks actually I want to visit.
So that's kind of the plan for the summer.
Yeah, I just want to show you guys some cool places while we're out here
and I thought this was a pretty cool place to show you.
Let me know what you guys think of it. Yeah, so Megan,
what did you think of the eight hour drive
that we did today? Well, we started super early
so I think we're both pretty tired. Yeah, that is very true.
But we, honestly, the drive's been kind of boring so far.
We started in Dallas. It's been nothing but
just flat land. We've seen a few windmills, right?
A lot of windmills, like no trees, and we've smelled a bunch of cow poop.
We did do a short walk in Amarillo with Stella
but it's been nothing just nothing but driving.
Nothing but driving and warnings about rattlesnakes.
Yeah, there's a lot of snakes in this area
of the country and we're just walking right now.
Look at all this rock. Can't you believe that at one point this used to be lava?
Like thousands, probably hundreds of thousands, or no it said
tens of thousands of years ago. It erupted. I think it actually
mentioned that it erupted during the ice age
and there was like mammoths and just a bunch of prehistoric,
I guess, animals that roamed in this region which is pretty cool
to think that just how old this this place is.
I mean, this is like history right in front of our eyes.
And once again, I apologize if I'm a little cuckoo right now.
Cuckoo for cocoa buffs.
Look at these views. Crazy. I got one more view.
I will say it is a beautiful day out here.
It's not even that hot actually. I think it's like 75 degrees
and there's a slight breeze which makes it feel just so much cooler.
And coming from Texas where it's super hot, extremely hot, and very humid,
this is a nice change. I will say that.
Oh, Bucky. Little Buck. Guys, I want to introduce you to a new addition to the channel.
His name is Buck. We just got him yesterday
and he's going to be riding with us on all of our road trips
from this point forward. Stella's best friend, Buck.
Look how happy he is to be road tripping. So happy.
Look at that old cabin. Her house, I mean.
Just out in the middle. She's a sailor tonight. Heck no. I'm good.
I mean, I can drop you off. I'll come back and pick you up if you want.
I got a sleeping bag. You can go with Stella.
I'm just kidding.
It looks like we're finally starting to get some sort of hills, mountains, stuff like that.
I mean, it's been pretty flat this whole drive. That's why I haven't filmed much.
It's just nothing cool to see, you know? Just flat land and oil rigs.
If you've driven through Texas, you know what I'm talking about.
I kind of like Texas. It's growing on me.
I'm just glad to be back on the road, you know?
It's nice to actually be traveling again and to be just seeing our beautiful country.
I'm truly grateful that I get to do this every day.
So, huge shout out to all of you guys who support us. Thank you so much
for making these travels possible because without you, we wouldn't be here.
All righty, everyone. We are coming up on the state border of Colorado
and the landscape has changed drastically.
Look at this. Now, we're starting to get hills, little mountains. It's looking quite beautiful.
Stella.
All right. We're coming up on it right now.
Welcome to Colorado.
Me and Stella actually took a picture in front of this sign,
like on our first road trip together.
When I first got her, if I can find it, I'm going to pop it up on the screen.
We made it to Colorado. We're not far from Trinidad.
So, we're going to go to the grocery store, pick up some ingredients to cook up dinner,
and then we're going to find our spot for tonight.
So, all right. Here we are. Safeway.
Let's go get some stuff to cook up.
All right, Stella. We'll be right back. Okay, girl?
Oh, look. You can be a Starbucks barista, Megan.
You want to get a job in Trinidad and be a Starbucks barista?
Guys, she makes fun of me because I say buggy and she says cart.
Let me know what you guys say down in the comments. Do you say buggy or cart?
I call this thing a buggy.
Asparagus.
All right. So, they don't have any just plain salmon fillets.
They just have like these. So, we're just going to get one of these and
it'll just be easier for us since it's been a long day.
I mean, these are already flavored, I guess.
So, this is honey smoked salmon. I'm going to get this. What are you going to get?
They have honey, hot honey. They have chipotle lime, sweet bourbon.
This is what I got, sweet bourbon. Oh, they do have an original honey smoked.
All right. We are in the checkout line waiting to get checked out.
All right. Back secured at Safeway. Heading back to the truck.
Looks like it's kind of a cloudy day, but sun's peeking through a little bit
and it's getting kind of late. So, we're going to pack all this stuff up and then
try to find a spot.
All right. So, we're actually headed back to this lake that I stayed at not too long ago
coming back from Alaska. When I passed through Trinidad, I stayed at this lake.
I stayed at the campsite here. We're not going to be staying at the campsite though.
I think this time we're going to try to drive around it and try to find
a spot, maybe a pullout or something where we can just kind of boondock for the night.
So, we're about 12 minutes away until we get there, but this was a really beautiful lake and
yeah, I thought it would be a perfect place to camp for the night.
All right, guys. We made it to this road and it's getting pretty bad actually,
but we're going to follow it down. It should go all the way down to the lake actually.
So, we should have lake access with this road. So, we're just going to keep following it down and see
where it goes. All right. So, this is where we're staying at Trinidad Lake State Park, Raleigh Canyon.
Oh, gosh. This road is pretty gnarly. Okay. So, this is the potential spot right up here that
we're going to be staying at. I'm going to just come up here and check it out because we got a
pretty gnarly hill that we have to go up. So, just check it out and see if there's any like flat spots
up here. I think we're going to camp out here tonight. It looks pretty. It looks really pretty.
It looks like it's going to be a good spot, but got some nice views of the lake and we're kind
of out. I mean, we're far away. There's not much. I can see like a cabin up there, up there, like a
few different spots, but it looks like it's really nice out here. I don't know if you can maybe drive
onto the shoreline, go down there or something. I don't know, but look at that sunset.
It looks pretty out here. I think we're going to camp. I think we're going to do it. We're going to
camp out here and have this all to ourselves. I'm going to see if I can make it up this hill though
without any problems. I have to get better tie-downs for my camper because those straps
really aren't going to do the job, but we're going to try to make it up. Pretty nice spot
and I don't think we'll get kicked out tonight. Hopefully not. This is kind of a state park, so
the camper definitely doesn't rock as much. I will say that as the other one.
It doesn't, and I still, I still need to upgrade my suspension, but
I'm able to actually kind of go off-road without shaking the whole thing. I think we're just going
to park like right here. Let's go outside. Let me show you the full 360 degrees of this place.
Let's get her real raw reaction of this. First off, yeah, look at that sunset.
Yeah. All right. This is the spot right here. What do you think? I think we found our spot,
guys. I think we found our spot. There's a port-a-potty. Yeah,
there's a port-a-potty and a trash can down there. I think we're good for the night.
The knee is on. Get some light in here. There we go. All right, so Stella is eating her dinner
and I think now we're going to, oops, sorry. I think now we're going to start cooking up our
dinner. So we got asparagus, salmon, and then I think we're just going to have some fruit.
We got some peaches, watermelon, and kiwi, and then we got some dessert for later.
I have a bad sweet tooth every night. Every single night. Every night. Multiple times a day. Yeah,
it's bad. I got to work on it. I think we're going to cook it all in the air fryer
just to make it easy and simple for us. I have the air fryer under here.
Air fryer is under here. Got the air fryer. Oh gosh. It's a big air fryer.
These are some big fillets. Yeah, for real. Oh, it smells good though. All right, so we got
our salmon fillets, asparagus. About to pop these in the air fryer. Okay. All right. First,
well not first night, but this is like first off-grid night kind of out in the wilderness
doing some cooking, some camping. Finally got everything moved in. Nice little breeze coming
from the windows. Got Stella laying down. Good to go. We got some watermelon. She's cutting up
some kiwi. Also, we have peaches too. All right. I think this asparagus is ready. What do you
think? All right. Ready to eat it. Then we got the salmon down here. Oh, I think we might have
overcooked the salmon. Oh wow. What do you think? Looks fine. Looks good. It smells really good
All right. So here we go. We got salmon, asparagus, and then we got some fruit too.
We got watermelon and peach. So this is our dinner. All right. You want to try it? Yeah.
It's really hot. Fresh. It looks, I mean, it definitely is done pretty good. I would set up
the table, but Stella's kind of using the seat as a bed right now. And we love Stella so much.
She can have it. All right. I think we are all ready for bed. Stella's kind of already passed
out down here, making the bed up here. I do have all the windows open for the fresh air. I don't
plan on running the generator all night because it's really not that hot on us. It's pretty cool.
Good night, Stella. Good night, girl. All right, guys. We will see you in the morning. I think
tomorrow we got a lot of stuff planned, so I'm excited. Yeah. Good night, everyone. See you in
the morning. Good morning, guys. Welcome back to the channel. I mean, good morning, guys. We just
woke up here at the spot. It looks like someone is down there, but we didn't get a knock or
anything, so that's good. But it's about nine o'clock, and these are the views. I did take
some drone shots earlier this morning, but I'm going to get the generator packed up. We're going
to get everything clean, and then we're going to get out of here and start making our way to
Colorado Springs. We're going to go to Garden of the Gods. We're going to check that out. Should
be pretty fun. How do you feel? It's a long walk. We did take Stella on a walk this morning,
and then she got all muddy. All right. Let's start up the truck. There we go. Hey, Buck.
Good morning. All right. We are out of here. We got to go back down.
All right, guys. We just made it to Colorado Springs, and we are pulling up into
Garden of the Gods. We're going to go check that out. The landscape here looks beautiful.
These are like red. I think they're like 300 million old red rock formations or something.
That's why this place is so popular, because of the rock formations.
Guys, we made it to the Garden of the Gods. What do you think of these 300 million year
old rock formations? Really cool. If I was a god, I would make this my garden.
Would you? Because I was thinking the exact same thing. That's crazy.
What about you, Stella? What do you think?
I have no idea what hike we're doing, but we just parked down there. I don't know if you can
see my truck. We parked all the way down there, and we hiked up here. This is the hike right here.
Pretty cool. Pretty elegant. Yeah. I'm trying to expand my vocabulary.
I believe you can do some biking around here. You can do some hiking. Also, if you're up for it,
you can do some rock climbing. I'm not sure where you can rock climb at,
but I read into it, and you can do some rock climbing here. Actually, I came here
on my first road trip with Stella for the first time. I'm not sure if I have a video on my channel
about it, but we did do a few hikes around here. It was pretty cool. Just look. Yesterday,
it was flat, and now we got mountains. I believe Pike's Peak is around here, too.
It looks like Pike's Peak is directly in front of us somewhere. I'm guessing that might be it,
maybe. It says the park's dramatic red sandstone formations are roughly 300 million years old.
They were originally laid down as horizontal sediment layers and later tilted nearly vertical
during the uplift that formed the Rocky Mountains. It is completely free to visit.
When the land was donated to Colorado Springs in 1909, the donor's family requested that it
remain open to the public forever at no charge. Pretty cool. The park covers about 1,340 acres,
and it is a designated national natural landmark. The scenery around here is stunning.
I will say this is pretty nice to have in the city. This is really nice. There's a ton of hiking
trails all around this park. Just to think, 1,340 acres of public land to go hiking, biking,
rock climbing right next to the city. The city's right over there.
It's not far. Having all this recreational use is nice. What's a happy dog right there?
That is a happy dog, and that's a happy lady, and that's a happy buck.
All right, guys. That is going to be the end of today's video. Thank you all so much for watching,
and I hope you enjoyed it. If you did, let me know what you guys think of it down in the comments
below. Also, go ahead and drop a like and a comment on this video. It's much appreciated.
Thank you so much for all the support. I'll see you guys back on the road next week. We're headed
out west, and we're going to go explore a bunch of different places. If you have anything in mind,
please let me know. We'll see you guys back on the road next week, and don't forget to stay saucy.
Peace.
