The World Tree Calls - Part 4: Every Step, A Life

Carrying endless questions in its heart, the sacred spirit continued walking through the Burial Ground of Gods, knowing only that it had to find a way out. At this time, it appeared no different from an ordinary human. Yet this realm had a strange law of space and time: every step it took became an entire lifetime. With each footfall, it was reborn as a human, living through birth, aging, sickness, death, joy, sorrow, hardship, and loss. Only at the moment that lifetime ended did it awaken again and realize it was still walking in the same dark land. Every step brought forth a new memory — the memory of another reincarnation.

The spirit walked on through countless lives and countless ages, until it finally reached a place called the Extreme Cold Land. There stood a lonely mountain covered in endless snow, where the sun never rose and no warmth could be found. Exhausted, wounded, and nearly emptied of strength, the spirit still forced itself forward. Gradually, even the memories it had gained began to fade away. It no longer knew who it was, where it had come from, or why it had begun this journey.

Only one thought remained:

It had to keep walking.
