Memphis était la capitale du premier district administratif de la Basse-Égypte.
Memphis fut fondée vers -3000 et fut la Capitale de l’Égypte durant tout l’Ancien Empire, elle est restée une cité importante tout au long de l'histoire égyptienne. La ville n’existe plus mais la région a conservé son nom.

Nous explorerons avec vous la pyramide rhomboïdale. Sa forme particulière en fait une tentative avortée de pyramide à faces lisses, dernier stade de l'évolution des pyramides.

Nous visiterons également la pyramide effondrée du pharaon Pépi II, mais dans laquelle se trouve son tombeau ainsi que de la magnifique fresque étoilée de la déesse Nout.

Vous aurez également la chance de visiter l’intérieur de la tombe du grand Vizir Kagemni avec ces fresques magnifiquement conservées et colorées et finalement le site funéraire du pharaon Djéser fondateur de l’ancien empire et sa mystérieuse pyramide à degrés, monument de pierres à grande échelle le mieux conservé du monde antique.
