Frisians, Franks, or Anglo-Saxons? Genetics of Flanders

In this video I cover the results of a paleogenetic study by Sasso et al from 2024, and compare them to other relevant paleogenetic studies.

According to the study, individuals with Anglo-Saxon-like ancestry settled at least two coastal sites and one inland site in Medieval Flanders. I investigate, whether this ancestry actually came from Anglo-Saxon England and represents Anglo-Saxons, or if perhaps it represents Frankish or Frisian settlers moving into the area, by comparing the genetic data with the history of the region and a linguistic hypothesis by the Dutch Linguist Peter Schrijver.
