The stone broke open with a cry

A ball of light came shining out

A monkey baby jumped about

He crawled then stood up on the ground
爬行之後站地起
He learned to jump and run around
學會跳躍四處跑
Then bowed up high toward the sky
朝天高高來拜謝
As if he knew the reason why

From both his eyes bright light shot far
雙目金光射遠方
It reached the sky it passed each star
直達天庭過星辰
It shone so strong so big so wide

That even gods could see its light
諸神皆見此神光
The Jade King said It's all okay

Just leave it be don't go that way
隨它去吧莫管它

It's just a thing from earth below
不過下方塵世物
No need to act just let it go

He lived with animals in trees
樹間野獸共生活
With deer and wolves all wild and free
鹿狼為伴真自由
But soon he learned what people do
但他很快學禮儀
To bow say hi and greet you too

The monkeys played from tree to tree
猴群穿梭在樹間
They laughed and swung so happily
嬉笑蕩漾多歡喜
They made a group a monkey band
聚集成群猴兒幫
With no one there to give command

Before a fall of rushing white
奔騰白水瀑布前
A wall of water loud and bright
水墻響亮又耀眼

They said Who dares to go inside
眾猴皆問誰敢入
And see the place where secrets hide

And comes back safe still strong and free
若能平安走出來
That one will be our king said they

The water could not push him back
奔流之水難阻擋
He landed safe upon a track
平穩落地在路上
An iron bridge was under his feet
鐵橋就在腳下立
He walked ahead with steady beat
步伐堅定向前行

Inside he saw stone beds in rows
洞內石床排成排
And pots and bowls and things to use
盆碗用具樣樣有
Words on the wall were big and clear
墻上大字清晰見
A hidden home was waiting here
隱秘家園在此間
The Water Curtain Cave it said
水簾洞府字分明
A happy home with warmth and bed
溫暖家園好安身

The Stone Monkey laughed out loud
石猴聽了大聲笑
I'll go he said so brave and proud
我去我去顯英豪
