【Classical music and nature 古典音樂小站】Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Divertimento No.7 in D major - IV. Menuetto. This beautiful piece was preserved European Archive. It has common licence (Public Domain Mark 1.0 Universal), and is provided through musopen.org.
This piece was written in 1773. The serenade played a significant role among Mozart's compositions in Salzburg. Works of this kind, synonymous with the titles divertimento and cassation, were composed for open-air performances during the summer months and were often designed to accompany a specific event, such as a wedding. This piece calls for two horns in D, a bassoon and strings.
Here you can hear an older recording of the piece. I like the way it is played, and while the technical quality of the recording is not the best, the musicians' intention is priceless. What would you prioritise? A perfect recording with a more modern interpretation, or a recording from a long time ago that allows you to hear how musicians from another era interpreted it?
The video was captured by Christian Schlegel at Lake Thun in Switzerland and edited by Wenjing Ma.
