I SHOULD NEVER HAVE PAINTED THIS: Stripping paint from mid century teak

Look, we all start somewhere. This piece has haunted me for FOUR years. I was just starting out in the flipping for profit business when I did this piece. I bought it for $50 from Facebook marketplace from someone's rec room. I obviously knew it was mid century. But I should have done my research. Better research. I frikkin painted it white and while, sure, it was beautiful... I shouldn't have brought a brush anywhere near this piece.

I was in a financial bind when I sold it, even though I realllllly wanted to keep it. I told the new buyer if she EVER wanted to sell it, please let me know. Well, hold on to yer butts, she wrote me about 2 months ago and said they were renovating and she no longer had a place for it. I bought it immediately, for about 50 bucks less than I paid for it.

I know so much more than I did back then. This is a fairly rare sideboard by Sven Andersen. I am keeping this forever! But I need to try to get it back as close to original as I can. I need to strip off my own paint job.

I learned a few years back the importance of researching a piece prior to any modifications/refinishing. To be honest, it doesn't matter WHAT the piece is, if you want to change it badly enough, you're gonna do it. lol I'm making myself vulnerable here in the hopes that this story will make you just pause, and double check that you aren't doing something you might later regret! But at the end of the day...it IS only furniture. Don't beat yourself up (or a total stranger, over a piece of furniture you've never owned or WILL own). Just learn. I keep saying in these videos that when you know better, DO better!
