ExclusiveAn off-grid community shows the power of self-reliance and fostering community
A homesteading community in Utah has enabled 50 families to practice self-sustaining agriculture. Aptly named Operation Self-Reliance, this project has only been in existence since 2019 after years of planning. It continues to grow, with plans for it to eventually house 200 families. Each homesteader purchases a 2-acre plot of land, where he can build a solar-powered house and develop some agriculture. People from all walks of life are flocking to this growing community for a chance to build a better life for their families.
On a similar theme, an article in the Home section of The Epoch Times describes how liberating growing your own garlic and other produce can be. As one gardener discovered, this garlic is not only more flavorful and easier to peel, but it yields delicious greens before the harvest, scapes, which are fresh and flavorful. Beyond the cuisine and nutritional benefits of the agricultural development in communities like Operation Self-Reliance, such endeavors are growing in popularity because of the strong community they offered, founded on traditional values like marriage and the family.
